roe polling

Recommended Posts

Imagine losing 35% to 65% and thinking you have a shot.

overturning roe finished the gop on a national level.

wont be about biden, wont be about trump.

will be about controlling women's bodies.

The majority of people (55%) support banning abortion after the first trimester.  That's why Trump is proposing a 16-week ban, which is probably in the 60% range.

Border security, crime, the economy poll as the top issues for voters in 2024.  Abortion, not so much so expect no fortuitous repeat caused by 2022 summer time SCOTUS ruling for the democrats in 2024.

Trump will likely come out at a 15 week abortion ban, according to folks around him.

This is 16 weeks, in recent polling last month from YouGov

*of note, women support this by 8 points and the biggest age demo supporters of this are Gen Z

**in a subsequent poll the week after, the numbers flipped to 41% support / 44% oppose - nothing occurred to change that, so likely just showing how torn America is on this issue

***I won’t underestimate how much this issue can play, as it seems both Trump & Biden will look to make this a Federal issue, but it doesn’t seem that a 15 week ban has the energy Dems hope for, and in quite a bit of polling, it shows the advantage flip to R’s

Trump doing this will take the issue off the table so all too predictable plan democrats will reaort to is to drill home the contention he's lying and once elected will go back to the total ban assertion.  Count on it.

Trump’s biggest issue is his narcissistic obsession to crap all over vote-by-mail.

Also - In states like Georgia and Arizona, he’s struggled with the “RINO” vote.  Problem is, those are reliable voters.  The voters he’s brought in are low propensity voters who never really voted until Trump came onto the scene.  They don’t show up in special elections and midterms.

It’s a huge issue for Republicans nationally and locally - See, Long Island where R’s waited to day of to vote in their special election only to have a big snow storm.

Kari Lake running in Arizona where she has a mortal enemy in John McCain’s daughter.  It’s all so haphazard and ridiculous.

Abortion might get one more bite at the apple as a mass motivating issue this fall, but if Trump does come out at 15 weeks, it takes a lot of steam out of that issue.  The pro-choice single issue voters and ultra-liberal unmarried women will obviously be motivated to vote, but 15 weeks is aimed at the suburban voters who aren’t entirely comfortable with what’s occurred since Roe was overturned.  Trump was never winning the first group.. he can certainly win back the second group.

1) You're dreaming if you think abortion isn't on the minds of voters.

2) You're also forgetting that Griswold is on the courts radar. The question is - why? Why is it any of their fkn business if people use contraceptives?

3) And last - look at the ages of the justices - some of them will want to retire in the next 4-5 years - no way in HELL will a majority of Americans give the GQP a chance to replace these justices. Zero change.

Justice Thomas, 75

Justice Alito, 73

Justice Sotomayor, 69

Chief Justice Roberts, 69

Justice Kagan, 63

Justice Kavanaugh, 58

Justice Gorsuch, 56

Justice Jackson, 53

Justice Barrett, 52

Whatever your politics, you have to admit that Trump was exceptionally lucky to get 3 Supreme Court appointments in 4 years.

Part of that is Ginsburg hanging on too long, which is probably a consequence of overconfidence that Hillary would win. And part is McConnell running out the clock on Garland's nomination.

Biden is looking like he'll get just 1 appointment in his 4 years.

If Trump wins, you have to wonder if Justice Thomas might step down during his Presidency.

If Biden wins, he holds out until 2028 to see if someone like DeSantis, Youngkin, Haley becomes President at the very least.

The op explained exactly why a shady funded Dem company sued on behalf of Dobbs and the 15 week limit.  To get to the SC.

RBG and others knew that the fourteenth argument was very shaky and why she didn't retire.

The Dem machine  had to get it to the SC, and they knew it was toast under the 14th argument.

Now you got a wedge topic.

Very lucky. Sotomayor should retire today.

However, Americans have learned their lessons - nobody is eager to live in a society steered by this Supreme Court's direction.

Ah the thread we needed from libs to finally tell us

“Yea, we got nothing.  We broke everything.  We were wrong on everything.  But we still support pregnant ‘persons’ killing babies.  So vote for us.”

Of course she should. She's not in great health, and she's pushing 70. The Dems have the votes in the Senate to secure Biden's nominee.

But that would require Justices who are not all about themselves.

She kinda showed the world her mental capacity when she said hundreds of thousands of children were in incubators right now, due to COVID.  In the COVID mandate hearings.

Quite a few times in her dissenting papers she sources media narratives vs legal arguments.

This is the problem.  Your statement is indicative of the greater problem of all of this.

You see it as "them" vs "us."

It's all of us. The kind who see it as "them" vs "us" pound their chest as if it is some glorious virtue of knowledge to say anything. It's not. Never will be. Until people reunite to realize it is all "us" we will continue with he downward spiral that this country has had for 100 years.

Except your glossing over the fact that Donald Trump said that he was proud of what he did regarding abortion putting in those conservatives into the Supreme Court
