The darts world championship is pretty epic to be fair.

To me it just seemed so funny. Like what's next? They are preempting the NFL to show tic tac toe?

In the US, darts is only done sometimes at bars. It's like playing bingo.

But I understand different countries have different likes.

i read that darts is very popular in the U.K., it is the highest rated indoor/arena sport by far, ahead of snooker, netball, ice hockey, and bowls. [But what the heck are "netball" and "bowls"? I never even heard of those. I guess I'm not too cosmopolitan, lol!]

I think I've explained before Sky Sports Main Event channel shows a live event also being shown on one of the other Sky Sports channels. This time of year one of the other channels becomes Sky Sports Darts and they also chose to put the darts on Main Event too. I suspect viewing figures in the UK for darts will be higher than a regular season NFL game.

Darts is big over here and a traditional Christmas/New Year world championship has always been looked forward to . Especially by the "working classes". As, like you say, it's a pub game but that's what makes it so relatable to regular folk. Everyone can play. Like golf but less athletic. Prize money for first place this year is £500k. The players are all professionals and are very skillful. I'd say it's akin to the American love of bowling.

Netball is like basketball. Essentially the aim is to shoot a ball through a hooped net. You can't dribble the ball though. Only pivot, pass and shoot. Mainly played by women.

Bowls is catnip for retired gentle folk. A game where you send weighted balls at a smaller target. The close your ball gets to the target the more points you get. Like curling but on grass and with balls. My grandparents were big bowlers. If you can watch this film - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337879/ your life will be all that better.

Wow...thanks for the education! Bowls sounds croquet in the US. But it is pickleball that is really catching on among older folk here.

And in the US, field hockey is mainly played by women, like netball in the UK, but only in the northeast and Ohio I think. But in the rest of the world, both sexes play field hockey.

Netball - British 7 player on court sport started in 19th century.  Dribbling is for babies and no dribbling allowed in this game.  It is a zone sport. Was asked to be scorekeeper in game once at UB.

Do we want the Raiders or chargers to win?  Raiders are closer to the Bills in record but do we want the Chargers to fall further so they are unmotivated the following week (tank).

We own the tie-breaker against Las Vegas (and soon will against the Chargers). Both teams are irrelevant. Still, better that the Raiders win so they get a worse draft pick so they won't be able to draft a better QB.

I love these maps. Anybody know why people in that little blotch of SW Florida want to see Chicago v Cleveland? What’s the connection?

Austin Watkins, WR for Cleveland, is a star high schooler from the Fort Meyers area.  Not sure if that is the connection or not.

BTW, speaking of Brazil and Mexico, as a quick aside and not that they mean anything, but Buffalo moves up five spots from 10 to 5 in the Week 15 Brazil power rankings:

And nine spots from 15 to 6 in the Week 15 Latinx power rankings:

interesting idea on Austin Jenkins, but he is not really at the level of a star a DMA would cowtown too, like a Bijan Robenson or a Josh Allen. Areas do cowtown for high school stars, but they have to be big, like Tua, who went to high school in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. That DMA shows Miami whenever they have the chance. It probably has more to do with Chicago snowbirds being in that area.

EDIT: Last week, Fort Myers got DET-CHI, so it does seem like they have a Chicago thing, catering to the snowbirds.

Didn't know Sat games on NFL network.🤬 I just have over the air and a fire stick. Was hoping to watch games all day today. At least next week rout against SD/LA will be on local TV (WGRZ)

UPDATE 4:

[for posterity]

FOX Early:

A small CBS affiliate in Hazard KY (WYMT (FOX/57)), which is owned by and usually runs the same programming as the Lexington station in the DMA, is showing TB-GB instead of HOU-TN. This change is not reflected in the maps.
