I mean, only if you can’t read. The levels of Strawman on this thread are astronomical.

Saying the government shouldn’t be telling us what we can read or overriding medical professionals is suddenly a radical position to take.

The role of govt since our inception. Actions and reactions, and reactions to those reactions. You just don't like what ELECTED representatives decide. Sorry, that's how it's worked for like, ever.

oh I can read and not one of your points has turned out to be correct. Not one.

the government is involved because when it comes to money people will do anything for it. Including carving up kids who can’t consent to sex let alone have their genitals cut off. Both are wrong

@ChiGoose

First it's up to school boards and administrators to monitor what's on the shelves. Petition them he/she/they says/say.

Sure...go petition the very same commies to stop this madness who:

1. Allowed it to happen in the first place.

2. Will tell you that it's not happening right after being confronted with irrefutable evidence that it is.

So yeah...***** you very much for that plan.

Then he/she/they say/says that giving porn to kids in their school libraries can't be criminalized.

This from the same person who supports..

Denying political prisoners rotting in DC jails their constitutional rights.

Cheers the comical political indictment of the leading Presidential candidate.

With all due disrespect, ***** you with your selective rule of law I'll ***** on the constitution when its politically expedient bull *****.

Finally I have a proposal for the @ChiGoose and @BillStime of the world.

1. I give you one of these books shown to be on the shelves of elementary schools. Let's pick the one that talks to kids about tossing off and ***** slime.

2. You go to a local park, ask a random 7 year old to sit on a bench next to you and you read the book to him or her.

3. I record video of you reading this book to a minor and provide it to the kids parents and law enforcement.

4. I look forward to you continuing your defense of this crap during your ensuing legal troubles.

So it’s ok for the government to have laws criminalizing books so long as they pinky swear not to enforce them?

This is modern conservatism?

you keep jumping topics to avoid the subject. the books that are being "banned" ARE the pornography. you just said cpp should get involved when children are shown pornography. THATS THE GOV! now your saying each book needs a law? asking repeatedly that gov shouldnt be involved with books. this from the guy that is perfectly ok with gov "getting involved" with social media companies about posts.

your all over the map to simply avoid the very clear simple argument that

kids should not be exposed. if we all agree then there is no gov required but we have people like you that will do backflips to justify it. entire thread is full of examples so "its not happening" "its just gay penguines" is thouroly debunked.

not alot of hope that you arent fully on board with this sick pedo culture forming when all things are added up at this point.

You're trying to use reasoned discussion with a commie.

But still,  thanks for the post.

well its not for him particularly. it would be nice for him to see which side he really stands on but its not my first try so never had expectations. its for any lurkers who see these rationalizations and push back with facts and reasoning. simply blowing them off is what i would think society as a whole would do but even somthing so simple as not wanting kids exposed to sexuality at a young age has a built in mainstream narrative for them to follow so it doesnt come off as insane. level headed debate is the answer imo if you want to have moderate people who arent paying attention see where we are. otherwise THEY come off as the calm logical one and your just a guy insulting them.

just my 2 cents. could be wrong. people dont seem to care much when they threaten and trap a young woman who is simply trying to defend womens rights and spaces. just give the aggressors a empathetic backing and anything is justifiable at this point. ( far right transphobic speaker is confronted by pro lgb mob). so im prob giving to much credit toward society being rational about anything anymore.

Beloved is pornography? The Handmaid’s Tale is pornography? Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West is pornography? Those books have been banned in compliance with Florida’s new censorship law.

There are laws against distributing pornography to minors. If that’s actually what is happening, arrest the perpetrators. We don’t need a new law for it, they can be charged under existing law.

My point is that we shouldn’t criminalize books. That’s it. If you think someone is giving porn to kids, then report them to the police. These laws aren’t about protecting kids. We already have laws in place to do that. These laws exist solely to gain political support and dupe people.

DeSantis brand is calibrated for the modern, social media based, validation driven media environment.

So obviously it's going to be based on virtue signaling.

That's why he's getting pulled down these pearl clutching, nanny state rabbit holes instead of campaigning for the nomination.

Trump hit him for being a groomer and a pedo-enabler, and he'll keep it up until DeSantis finds a response. These feel-good laws were supposed to vaccinate DeSantis against this strategy and failed.

woman reads approved books gets called out for violating tv standards for reading book lol.

There are in fact books inappropriate for certain ages.

it has been amazing watching you get owned left and right here but somehow move on to the nest topic and start claiming intellectual superiority. To live in your head must be wild

I’ve never said there aren’t books that are inappropriate for certain ages.

My argument has always been that the government shouldn’t be in the position of criminalizing books.

here’s the problem with this. The left keeps putting out books in schools that are inappropriate. The right says take them out.  The left keeps them in. The right the files suit and removed them. The left cries censorship. The left also removes books not included in the bans and posts gaslighting pictures on the internet that fool people like you. Like the picture of empty bookshelves in the Florida school that had nothing to do with the ban lol

Btw all the books are still able to buy through Amazon.

like I said. Living in your brain must be a nightmare
