You can just Google and read things from weeks to months ago about the dysfunction on his staff. I don't claim to know the inner workings but it seems to me that Flores passed over a number of qualified coaches to hire who he wanted. Apparently his intentions were pure, making him unique I suppose. It could also be that he's a bit of a head case. I can think of Reich and Vrabel, not like I have an extensive knowledge of all the coaches playing careers. Most coaches, Belicheck, Reid, Carroll, Arians, McDermott, Tomlin...even up and coming coordinators and coaches like Dorsey, Kellen Moore had short careers that did basically nothing after college. Look at the new young coaches, Shannahan, McVay, Bengals Zack whatever, Stefanski. They are young coaches because they pretty much went straight into coaching rather than pursue playing. Maybe Byron Leftwhich gets his shot soon? But the argument I see "well players are this, so coaches should be equal ratio or close" is kind of flat imo. Should a woman never get a head coach or coordinator job? No females currently are in the NFL. The part maybe we should ask is why collegiate black players who arent expected to make it at NFL level dont seem to turn to coaching early as much? While typing this I started looking up recent black head coaches, I know Leslie Frazier played. David Culley went into coaching right out of college. Marvin Lewis same thing... BRIAN FLORES (injury prevented him from NFL so he went to coaching). Robert Saleh, Jim Caldwell, Hugh Jackson. David Culley looks more white then black to me. How many black offensive coordinators do you think there are. It's not an NFL problem. I would have liked to see Leftwich get the Jax job and Caldwell get another chance as well. Maybe they still will. But my point is that they all sucked as head coaches. And black head coaches who suck should get fired also. They just need to be given a chance first. I can not believe that Joe Judge was highly qualified to do anything on a football field that would make him head coaching material. Just very weird how a sport whose players are predominantly black has so few coaches that are black. And good for Flores tearing the Dolphins, Broncos and Giants a new one. Elway has been a drunken fool since leaving the game. Ross is a coockoo. And the Giants have become a joke of a franchise. Good luck Daboll. I think Leftwich is still in consideration for New Orleans; what's being circulated out there is that Leftwich not being hired in Jax is on his own doing, because he didn't want to work with Trent Baalke as his GM and requested that they release Baalke and hire a GM of his choosing. So Flores was willing to circumvent the Rooney Rule when it suited him, because he knew a guy from NE.
