In Devon Singletary’s first ever game against (the Jets), he was the best player on the field. The guy was so quick and just made plays every time he touched the ball. He was the reason we came back from down 2 TDs and won that game. From that point on he was my favorite player on that 19 team. He became my aviator on here, I grabbed a jersey, and I spent literally every week complaining about Frank Gore. Frank Gore taking carries and touches away from Singletary is why we didn’t go further in 19. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise. It was maddening to watch a completely done, slower then molasses RB steal high leverage carries from the best player on our offense. It cost us the Houston game and just drove me nuts. My entire take away from the 19 season was, love 26 just needs the ball. The birth of the frustrating RB rotation. Last year was very different. We never ran the ball and when we did, it was a waste of time. I started to question Singletary and while deep down I still liked him, it was almost like he was a completely different guy. I still think the scheme and RB rotation had a lot to do with it but some of it was on him. Sophomore slump, lack of touches or confidence…whatever it was, it was rough. And there were windows where I was more comfortable with Moss. Last year was great but not for 26. Fast forward to this year. The guy put in all kinds of work in the off-season. Looks like a different guy and it’s almost like the job is there for him to take. The first 10 weeks we just refuse to stick to a guy. Constantly rotating these guys unlike any team I have seen. To the point where it’s every other drive. Just throwing 50x a game, Fans crying we need balance, people seeing Dabol just has no interest in even attempting to put effort into run play designs. Started to think every running back we have is just a lost cause as long as this is what our offense looks like. Then, halftime at Tampa happens. The Bills finally stick to Singletary. The guy makes plays to spark the comeback in that game and never looked back. He’s not looking over his shoulder every play thinking he might be coming out. He’s actually getting the ball and in high leverage situations and paying them off. The guy is making play after play and has completely transformed this offense. It’s probably been the case all along that he was capable of this. There just had never been a time where he got the ball consistently. From halftime of the Tampa game the bills have been the best team in the league. And Devon Singletary has been a major part of that turnaround. I’m so happy for him and so happy that through all the adversity he came out the other side. Balance makes this team borderline unstoppable. We have had a RB all along. T master Posted January 16, 2022 Share Posted January 16, 2022 It's about time i think they just weren't using him during the season for what ever reason & they may have thought Moss was as good a option but Motor has shown he's much better than Moss & he needs to be in while Moss rides the pine !! racketmaster Posted January 16, 2022 Share Posted January 16, 2022 He has been the best back on the roster since he was drafted but has been playing at a level I did not think he could play at, which is be the feature back. He has gotten better with more touches and has proven that he is at least a capable back in the red zone and short yardage. He was on pace for 1,000 yards after the first 4 games. Not sure why we got so far away from the running game but glad we came back to it. I remember one guy complaining that Josh couldn't find his "rythm" because we were running too much. It was just windy. If we can run the ball then run the ball, Josh obviously will be fine. After Allen, their performance this season especially down the stretch has been one of the biggest reasons for our offensive success (extending drives, winning the physical battles, etc.). Hope Beane can grab a speed back in the mid/late rounds with some receiving chops to sprinkle in/provide a change of pace and we can roll with Singletary and said draft pick going forward. 70/30 snap ratio or so. billsfan89 Posted January 16, 2022 Share Posted January 16, 2022 It feels (and I am not trying to be a prisoner of the moment) that the Bills are peaking at the right time. I was worried that the Bills have mostly been beating up on bad teams in their recent streak. But since that second half come back against an elite Tampa Bay team the Bills have been finding themselves. They got right against the Panthers and then Josh had a fantastic game away against the Pats for control of the teams destiny and then the Bills beat up on two bad teams in Atlanta and the Jets despite Josh not having his best games. Then they go out and not just beat a Pats team (as they should have the Bills simply are the better team) but they wire to wire dominate the game. And two critical components are driving the offense. The O-line finally found a solid guard and got consistency. The O-line never had consistency. Mongo got hurt and Covid, Ike got hurt, Ford got yanked, Dawkins got Covid, and Spencer Brown got hurt and Covid. Now they have consistency and they found Bates at LG which has been at the worst solid. You now have an O-line unit that is the best 5 out there along with having played together for at least a few games now and a back in Singletary playing his best football for the team.
