49ers tried to trade 3rd overall pick and a bunch of other stuff for Aaron Rodgers, Packers said no

I could see Rodgers just retiring and hosting Jeopardy

He's got plenty of $$ and Green Bay just refuses to actually go for it all, preferring to halfway everything.

Drafting Love was totally, completely stupid. If Love was a 3rd rounder or less, OK then MAYBE it makes sense. But for a team in the NFL, where there are only a few real contenders, to not use your high picks on playmakers to WIN something now is totally indefensible.

The plan is to have Love for the QB "in a few years" and they use prime assets to get that guy in when they can't quite seem to get over the NFC Title Game hump?

Would jeopardy even want him? He was pretty awful. Way too dry and monotone.

All (other) 3 AFC EAST teams mentioned on NFL Live as possible spots for Rodgers.

I only think Miami is in play. NE could make an offer but Miami can blow them away so I wouldn't worry about that. The Jets have the draft capital but they are going ot want to rebuild with a rookie and the rest of their draft picks as Rodgers doesn't fit their timeline esp if they have to trade away most of their assets to get him. Miami on the other hand can offer 3-4 premium picks in the 2021 draft tonight and two firsts in 2022.

Now, If I'm Jacksonville do I make a phone call?

Why do the Jets make more sense? Their roster is pretty bad and Rodgers won't make them that much better if they have to give up most of their picks to get Rodgers.

I was thinking from Green Bay's perspective. This way they would have the #2 overall pick to take a safety for that defense!

I wonder sometimes about these teams...

If you know you have a real issue with Rodgers AND you love your young QB so much, you'll never be able to cash in and get a boatload in return more than you will now.

By digging in, the Packers lose. Rodgers can just retire.

Drafting Love was guaranteed to anger Rodgers, plus they get nothing for that 1st round pick for years.

They basically punted on their entire 2020 draft. Backup QB, backup RB, and a healthy scratch TE with their first 3 picks.

It's incredible how badly they drafted in 2020.

For a team that never signs free agents they need to hit on the draft.

So for all those claiming that I was nuts to say the Packers should consider accepting the 49ers deal,  there's this...

I would rather take a better deal from Miami. Give me pick 6, 18, 36 and 81 in 2021 and their 1st and the 49ers 1st in 2022 along with swapping picks in the second round. The Packers have Jordan Love at QB, go all in with him and get 4 premium picks and two future firsts to surround him with talent on a rookie deal.

Weird timing.

Word leaks the 49ers have offered a trade for Aaron Rodgers (which was turned down), and within a couple hours Rogers is complaining about the Packers organization.  Could it be possible that he is pushing the team to reconsider?

Don't forget that Rodgers is a California-native, and played college there.  I believe his family lives in California.  Coming into the NFL, it was expected for months that San Francisco was going to draft him at #1 (they eventually went with Alex Smith instead).  There may be a part of him that always wanted to play for the Niners.

And why does anyone think he'll go to an AFCE team?  The 49'ers have the best offer out there and I doubt he'd want to play for the Jets.

What exactly is the 49ers offer? Jimmy G, pick 3, a pair of future 2nd round picks and what else? Unless Bosa is in there I wouldn't really be that fond of that offer over what Miami can offer which is 3 picks in the top 36 (including pick 6) and a pair of future firsts in 2022 among other picks.
