Nothing about January 6th is 'amusing'

However your ignorance about it and your willingness to proclaim it ..........is very amusing.

Please continue.

Can you please provide the justification for the actions that took place on January 6?

Dispel my ignorance

A recent study from the Chicago Project on Security and Threats provides insight into the profiles of the insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6. As the project’s director, Robert A. Pape, detailed in an op-ed for The Post:

When compared with almost 2,900 other counties in the United States, our analysis of the 250 counties where those charged or arrested live reveals that the counties that had the greatest decline in White population had an 18 percent chance of sending an insurrectionist to D.C., while the counties that saw the least decline in the White population had only a 3 percent chance. . . .

Put another way, the people alleged by authorities to have taken the law into their hands on Jan. 6 typically hail from places where non-White populations are growing fastest.

This week, another Capitol riot defendant, Ronald Sandlin, told a federal judge during a bail hearing that Samsel was one of a number of defendants in the case who'd been subjected to violence by D.C. correctional officers.

In an interview with WUSA, (attorney) Elisabeth Pasqualini said Samsel was "viciously and savagely" beaten by a corrections officer in the D.C. Correctional Treatment Facility after the guard zip-tied Samsel's hands.

She said she was only alerted to the alleged attack when two attorneys representing other defendants contacted her and said her client had gotten "a beatdown" by a guard and was in the hospital.

"He has definitely suffered serious injuries, including a shattered orbital floor, a broken orbital bone, his jaw was broken, his nose was broken," Pasqualini said, adding that Samsel is currently unable to see out of his right eye and may permanently lose vision in it.

I heard through another source that this beating took place because Samsel asked for toilet paper.

What's the "Chicago Project" verdict on the rampant black-on-black murders in their own city?

Can’t do it, the solutions to the problems of historic racism and  poverty would be unacceptable to Republicans who think the causes of said violence are very acceptable

Setting aside what you define as terrorism for a moment, I somehow doubt the DC CO's making $16/hr are obtaining valuable information in the interest of national security, which was the excuse for torturing detainees in the "War on Terror."

You mean waterboarding?  I'd take that over getting beaten.  And that's far more humane than the torture you'd have to endure in other countries.

So you are ok with waterboarding domestic terrorists?

The beating took place because Mr. Sammsel knocked a female Capitol Officer to the ground causing her to receive a concussion.

He'll probably get a year or two knocked off his sentence for his injuries.

How'd he get that close to a Capitol Police officer while in the DC jail?

It was just a little retribution for his actions during the minor skirmish that took place on 1/6/21. It's generally a bad idea to assault police officers, especially female ones.

This poor soul might as well get used to his living arrangements for the foreseeable future. Samsel is on parole in Pennsylvania from a 2016 assault charge. He also has a warrant in New Jersey for a 2019 assault as well.

Again, the GED holders of the DC Dept of Corrections are about the same distance from Capitol Police, pedigree-wise, as your average felon.

This clown claiming he was beat also said the election was stolen, do you also believe that?

Obviously, this person understands how to lie

The argument then, and the argument now, is that the threat was being deliberately inflated and exaggerated, and fears stoked and exploited, both for political gain and to justify the placement of more and more powers in the hands of the state in the name of stopping these threats.

That is the core formula of authoritarianism — to place the population in a state of such acute fear that it acquiesces to any assertion of power which security state agencies and politicians demand and which they insist are necessary to keep everyone safe.

Former president Donald Trump called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a “dumb son of a B word” as he used a Saturday night speech to Republicans to blame him for not helping overturn the 2020 election and reiterated false assertions that he won the November contest.

Trump, speaking to a Republican National Committee gathering at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla., excoriated a number of Republicans even as he publicly called for party unity — focusing on those who voted to convict him in impeachment proceedings. But he saved his sharpest vitriol for the Kentucky Republican.

“If that were Schumer instead of this dumb son of a B word Mitch McConnell they would never allow it to happen. They would have fought it,” he said of election certifying on Jan. 6, the day his supporters led an insurrection on the Capitol to block Joe Biden’s formal victor

Trump spent much of the speech, with many senators in the room, lashing into his former ally in personal terms, often to cheers from the party’s top donors. He falsely claimed that he won the Senate election for McConnell in Kentucky and attacked his wife, Elaine Chao, who served as Trump’s transportation secretary.

“I hired his wife. Did he ever say thank you?” Trump said. He then mocked Chao for resigning in response to the Jan. 6 events and Trump’s behavior that day.

“She suffered so greatly,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He later called McConnell a “stone cold loser.” A spokesman for McConnell could not immediately be reached.

The speech was light on his actual presidency, which some aides had wanted him to address, and delivered more of a familiar litany of grievances that seemed to animate the crowd. Many of his claims were false or misleading.

e did not directly address his 2024 plans — other than to express confidence about the Republican nominee winning — an attendee said, preferring instead to look back at the last election.

He reiterated many of his false claims soon after beginning his remarks and dove into particular states in detail, such as Georgia and Pennsylvania, continuing to claim he won them and attacking politicians such as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R). He spoke for about an hour, according to an attendee, and bragged that he had tossed his prepared and “boring” speech, the attendee said. “bull####,” he said about the election, before polling the room of Republican donors on whether they believed he won.

He falsely said that most Democrats also believe he won but just won’t say so out loud, an attendee said.

Trump said the crowd at his rally preceding the Capitol attack was so large — falsely claiming that “some people say it was over a million people” — because supporters were upset about fraud and said he was “disappointed” in Vice President Mike Pence for certifying the election later that day. He expressed no regret about his actions on that day, nor about those of the Capitol rioters.

It’s shameful. These national guardsmen are a prop in a practically empty city most days lately. Mainstream media MUST mention ‘deadly’ every time they speak of it, and when those two capital police were mowed down by that Muslim brotherhood man, they re-devoted a third or more of each story to ‘the deadly capital insurrection

The sixth was an international embarrassment, not a political show for democrats to continually plug. The fact the Don could con so many people into believing him just shows the discord and how deeply distrustful people are of basic government institutions.

Well, there was no “ insurrection “ by definition, so there’s that. The event was far less destructive than the liberal mass riots of last summer. Interestingly ,the only person killed was an unarmed protester that was shot by Capitol Police. Haven’t seen many folks wearing her name on a T-shirt, and I don’t believe her funeral was televised. Several remain jailed for the abhorrent crime of “trespassing” ( that’s probably more than from the aforementioned riots) ;they didn’t kill anyone or burn any businesses to the ground. However, I don’t recall any Dems starting a bail fund for them or defending their right to protest. Shocking.
