I am probably a fool for expecting a grown up response but What reason would those against the resolution have had?

Such a half assed journalism job not reaching out and asking the dissenters and the ‘present’ voter, which is the most cowardly choice of all.

But keep spinning that this is a good thing.

Being that translator that basically told the US to piss off was probably a pretty cool experience.

you can’t worry about this B-man. It’s already happened. We just need to hope China is happy owning their half of the globe and syphoning off all of our wealth until it’s gone.

Besides having absolutely no reason to be there, getting out of Afghanistan is an ideal way to stick it the Russians, Chinese and Iranians.

20 years.  Unbelievable.

Iran, China sign landmark 25-year cooperation agreement

“Relations between the two countries have now reached the level of strategic partnership and China seeks to comprehensively improve relations with Iran,” China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi was quoted by Iran’s state media as telling his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

“Our relations with Iran will not be affected by the current situation, but will be permanent and strategic,” Wang said ahead of the televised signing ceremony.

“Iran decides independently on its relations with other countries and is not like some countries that change their position with one phone call,” he said.

Wang met President Hassan Rouhani ahead of the signing of the agreement in Tehran, which is expected to include Chinese investments in key sectors such as energy and infrastructure.

This is not good. China is showing its true intentions here. There’s little doubt. They could’ve ignored Iran like everyone else is but instead they’re getting in bed with them. The time of choosing may be upon us.

This all just didn't happen overnight.  But it did take most people a long time to figure out we're screwed here already and its too late to reverse the course.

So maybe the architects of the China "most favored nation" designation back 30+ years ago could explain to us all what they were thinking at the time?  Did they not foresee any of this?  Assisting a communist and dictatorial regime with favors.

In the process businesses and whole industries were shipped off to China from all over the country resulting in a loss of jobs and communities in thousands of small towns and cities.  But it did give us "every day low prices" for all the crap we consume that's made in China.

Or failure to enforce IP laws and restrictions per international law and trade deals along with forced joint venture arrangements.

Or sending trillions in funds to China by way of the US trade deficit.

Or a general trend in US foreign relations favoring coercion, sanctions, and consequences for non-compliance with US direction vs. cooperation and mutual benefit.

China was playing the "long game" while our leadership has been focused on diversity while sitting clueless as our country is strip mined of assets and productive capacity.  To be certain, a world led by China will care not one bit abut diversity or what pronoun somebody wishes to be address by.

Pentagon could open itself to costly litigation from contractors if US pulls out of Afghanistan this year

Despite the signing of the Doha agreement last February that called for a full drawdown of US troops and personnel from Afghanistan by May 1, the Department of Defense issued nearly a billion dollars in contracts to 17 different companies related to work in Afghanistan past the withdrawal date. There are currently some 18,000 contractors in the country, of which 6,350 are American citizens.

With the deadline rapidly approaching and no formal decision from the White House, the future of the contracts, some of which have completion dates in 2023 and beyond, remains unclear, but the Pentagon could potentially have to pay hundreds of millions in settlements or face years of litigation if the US pulls out of the country on schedule or by the end of the year as President Joe Biden suggested is likely.

Its events with Ukraine that have gotten my attention.  Since taking over the Biden administration has been transferring a large amount of weapons and equipment to the country.  And Biden and the State Dept. have not been shy on expressing their intentions to bring Ukraine into NATO as part of the effort to encircle and contain Russian plans to expand influence over Europe and the Middle East.  On March 24th President Zelensky signed a decree, which is similar to an executive order here, declaring the desire to retake Crimea.  Hostilities have also increased in the east of the country where "rebel" forces exert some control.  Internationally, this is being seen as Zelensky given the "green light" by the US administration.

This week Russia moved tanks, aircraft, and large troop contingents to the border between the two countries and into Crimea.  None of this has really shown up in the MSM but my suspicions are it will very soon.  The global concern when war breaks out is this will escalate beyond a regional conflict and result in direct confrontation between US and Russian forces? And where it might spread to?  The Middle East, Asia with Taiwan and Korea, war in Europe, potential to escalate into a nuclear exchange.  Bad things like these.

Most likely all of this would have happened in 2017 if Clinton had won the election.  But she didn't.  Trump never warmed up relations with Russia but he didn't escalate them much either.  The Russian collusion narrative was really all about trying to associate Trump's administration with Russia and Putin to make it impossible to improve relations and de-escalate tensions between the two countries.  Tensions and plans which were established by neo-con and neo-liberal war advocates earlier under Bush/Obama.  The Mueller investigation provided cover here.   And when Trump dared to mess with Biden and the Ukraine connection, looking to engage the government their to investigate the connection, the deep state war machine had to act as their most vital interest and plan was being threatened.  They had much more to hide than just some payoffs and bribes involving the former VP.

AMERICA IS BACK?

Democratic politicians and their press adjunct are promoting the absurd idea that “America is back!” As though we had gone away during the Trump years, when American interests were pursued aggressively, successfully and peacefully–a pretty good combination. What is actually happening now is that we have a senile president surrounded by leftists who have no interest in defending American interests or American allies. Hostile powers are moving to fill the vacuum.

The London Times has a sobering account of China’s designs on Taiwan: “With Hong Kong subdued, Xi’s gaze turns to defiant Taiwan.”

China is ratcheting up military pressure on Taiwan, probing the air defences of the self-governed island on a near-daily basis amid fears of impending conflict.

According to Taiwan’s ministry of national defence, Chinese planes, sometimes in large numbers, entered the zone at least 18 times last month, 17 times in February and 27 times in January.
***

China’s constant flexing of its military muscle around the island is part of an intensifying five-year campaign under President Xi, who has vowed to annex Taiwan, if necessary by force, by 2050.

…Under Xi, the campaign to return [Taiwan] to the fold has moved beyond rhetoric and is a tenet of his leadership.

The role of the U.S. is crucial:

As well as trying to sap Taiwan’s appetite for a fight, the incursions are a message to the United States. Washington is obliged to equip Taiwan militarily under a defence pact but whether an American president would send US forces to defend the island has always been uncertain. It is an ambiguity that in the past has helped to serve as a deterrent to Chinese aggression. Xi appears willing to test this.

Joe Biden is widely suspected of being in China’s pocket as a result of his own corrupt dealings. But more charitably we can say that, apart from any such corrupt influence, we have a feeble president surrounded by leftists with little interest in national security issues. So China’s aggressiveness is perhaps over-determined.
