Please narrowly restrict discussion in this thread to NFL issues and NFL covid-19 policy/enforcement.  It is acceptable to post links to articles about NFL policies and how they are implemented from high-factual sources.

Two Bills Drive no longer finds it appropriate to engage in COVID-19 discussion in our main discussion areas. We are a Buffalo Bills fan community and we exist to serve fans of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL. Please use other communities and venues to discuss heath-related topics including COVID-19.

Information about COVID-19 is available from many globally respected sources including:

Uptodate     |  British Medical Journal Best Practice   |      COVIPENDIUM    |    Our world in Data

The pinned topic: COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic, located on the Off the Wall subforum, is also a resource.   Should these not meet your needs, many other sources of information (of varied accuracy) exist.

Thank you!

True it doesn't seem to spread outside very well. But you see that picture of Gilmore right in the face of Mahomes and you have to be a little worried. Patriots and Chiefs and Titans are going to get shut down for a couple weeks IMO. It's starting to spin out of control.

Chiefs won’t shut down unless they have more positive tests. So far just the PS player from Saturday

Gilmore knew he was a close contact of Cam, yet inches away no mask from mahomes. Wicked smaht

So he was inches away from, and doubtless in the grill of, many Chiefs players throughout the game.

Per your link, there were 20 people on the plane of people who were ID'd as close contacts of Cam Newton.

Those who were players were doubtless also inches away from, and in the grill of, Chiefs players throughout the game.

That was required to play the game. Post game mingling not required. Nfl should get rid of that, looking at all the new rules they have

Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for COVID-19, as @TomPelissero reported.

So, for now, the Patriots have QB Cam Newton, CB Stephon Gilmore and practice squad DT Bill Murray on their Reserve/COVID-19 list.

is he sick?

Cam was not

Then do you send them all home all across the country? That would seem worse than having them under some kinda control with the team.

Even if they stay in the city where they play....as I understand it, the normal day of a football player during the season is like "in the facility from 7 am to 6 pm" or something like that.  Maybe 8 to 5 for some who aren't as dedicated.  Individual workouts, practices, meetings, treatment for injuries.  They're very busy.  They go home tired, play with the kids if they're family men, maybe watch some Netflix, and hit the sack.

Now cancel all that.  You have healthy young men with nothing to do outside working out for a couple hours (at a gym open to the public?), still needing treatment for injuries (at a PT/physician open to the public?), and when they finish all that what are they gonna do with the rest of their time?  Knit?  Or go clubbing?

They definitely would not send them “home”. They aren’t even allowed to leave team cities during bye week.

The interview with the Vikings "Infection Control officer in this article explains the belief under which the NFL is playing.

“On a football field, you’re not going to have close contact, because the average football play lasts about six seconds."

The whole sportsmanship thing requires that the players make some brief contact to say "good game" "next time" or whatever.  If that's a significant added risk after getting in each other's grills all game, the whole premise on which the NFL season is based is probably faulty.

The NFL already prohibited stuff that tends to put players in longer proximity like swapping jerseys and writing on them.
