set-up curveball questions on ABC — trump hitting every single one out of the park.

The blond on now stated as fact the now discredited "losers and suckers' statement. He absolutely refuted it and is doing so very well. He's honest, and it's hard to refute the truth.

That doesn't stop ABC though.

LARRY O’CONNOR: Stop Lowering Expectations for Biden’s Debate Performance.

“I know it’s fun to point out all of the stupid, meandering, and incoherent ramblings Biden exhibits on a nearly daily basis, but could we please stop playing into this narrative that President Trump is going to clean his clock at the presidential debates later this month?”

Indeed.

Ann Althouse last week: “He is reasonably nimble. He can evade. He’s very evasive. You’ve got to give him that. He’s old and often seems confused, but when cornered, he’s quick to evade.”

If Biden can manage two hours of the rote fallback answers he’s been using since the 2012 campaign, it will be spun as a win.

Trump’s job — because the moderators won’t do it — will be to force Biden off-script.

I wonder if Trump should just cede most of his time to Biden, so Biden can elaborate on his answers.

Like I said before, all Trump needs to do is ask Joe "You were VP for 8 years and had full control of Congress in the first year.  Why didn't you fix things then?  Was Obama incompetent?"  And then just sit back and listen.

Democrats on edge as Biden readies to go after Trump at debate

by Amie Parnes

Original Article

Joe Biden has one major goal when it comes to the presidential debates: Don’t let President Trump get away with a single thing. Aides and allies to Biden say the Democratic nominee needs to be ready to fact check Trump in real time and not let the president get away with exaggerating or distorting his record. And they say he needs to aggressively hold him accountable when the candidates meet on state Sept. 29 in Cleveland.

(Snip)

There is a palpable fear among some Democrats about whether Biden is up for the challenge, and whether being too aggressive could backfire.

That is the downside to Trump's strategy over the past few months. He's been honest about Joe's mental decline, but has piled on so much that all Joe needs to do now in the debates to be declared a winner is not set himself on fire during it. So long as he does that, he'll be anointed the winner by everyone in the media and everyone else who didn't watch the event.

It's a bit late to try to raise expectations on him... but they're trying.

He'll probably re-use the laughing strategy he used against Rubio.

I'm not confident in his ability to pull this off at all...

I mean, we have 8 years of Biden's healthcare ideas, and 4 years of Trump. I think most people are tired of hearing all the great plans and how they're gonna fix a irreparable system of garbage.

It's the number two issue people care about behind the economy but they're going to talk about election integrity so that will be fun.
