Allow me to beat this dead horse, like I do whenever their name is mentioned...

F Schwabl's.  The way the owners treated that senior citizen after she had an accident into the side of the building was embarrassing.  They will never see a penny from me.

Would be interesting to read but I'm not paying for a subscription lol.

I went to Schwabl’s a couple years ago before a Sabres game and it was great. Very good German potato salad. I’m looking at a place called Black and Blue Steak and Crab in Amherst. Anybody been there?

Be prepared to read by your phone flashlight at Black and Blue. Last time I was there, I put the menu so close to the table candle for reading light, I was shocked I didn’t set it on fire.

Hutch’s is very good but you can usually get a reservation at Remington Tavern (same owner). Hutch’s is small, Remington Tavern is large. You may also like Tempo.

The Dapper Goose is eclectic, menu at the link.

The Yelling Goat has a wonderful, diverse menu in a bar!

Buffalo Chophouse or Russells....but it will co$t you.

Chefs/La Bella Sicilia be next.

I haven't been to any of them since March.

Schwabl's is so not what it use to be. Go to Barbill's.

I love Russell’s I’ve been there a few times. I definitely want to try Buffalo Chophouse at some point

Kuni's - The best sushi I've had anywhere in the country

Cantina Loco - Mexican (New-American flair) with the best from scratch margaritas. The spicy one is the best I've had
Desi's (On Clinton) - Get the Godfather sub or the bonanza and die happy. They also have my all-time favorite calzones
Dollar Pho - Top tier vietnamese - the bahn mi and pho are excellent

Nick's Place - The best greasy spoon breakfast you'll ever find.
Mulberry - Great Italian

Just went to La Bella last night. Calzone with side of sauce. Split spaghetti and two meatballs with wife. Simple and delicious.

In order:

Hutch's

Oliver's

Sear

Great other choices for casual fare:

Gabe's Gate

Mother's

I'm a sucker for:

Schwabl's

Connor's

Anything in the Ballyhoo group (Tim Stevens)

Sear is closed,  and the ownership group (including Freddie Jackson, Moorman and Terrence McGee (I believe that McGee was involved) are suing their landlord, Uniland.

Love a number of the places that were already mentioned: Hutch's, Roost, Mother's, Gabriel's Gate, Bar Bill, Elmo's & Mulberry's.

Honestly, not a fan of Chef's, and while I do like the "new" Colter Bay, I liked the "old" Colter Bay much better.

Few others: Grover's in East Amherst/Clarence (great burgers, wings and cheeseburger soup) & anything in the Gorino group of restaurants (Siena, 800 Maple, Rocco's & JT's)

Gabriel's Gate is solid for sure with the wings but their fish fry isn't to be missed,  it is excellent. The portion was so big it hung 2-3" off of either side of the plate, the size of a forearm. Sides are good too.

grovers is amazing.

Sear is closed!?!?

That gigantic glass wine cellar in the middle of the place was done by yours truly. Only $80k!

Yep.  Just saw the article earlier in the week:

https://buffalonews.com/entertainment/dining/restaurants/sear-restaurant-owners-sue-uniland-after-feeling-burned/article_8a7996dc-d729-11ea-b118-47e7df98218c.html

edit:  in reading the article, it appears that they're NOT permanently closed.  My bad.

Forgot a couple, in the Southtowns:  Grange and Elm Street Bakery

It was. I'm one to pepper the ***** out of it though, no matter where. In reality we should have just shared a plate with sides.

Trattoria Aroma on Main Street in Williamsville is the bomb!!! Six of us went there last month and all of us were beyond pleased. If this place was in NYC they could charge a ton of money.

This has turned into a yearly trip with old friends and I guarantee I will be back to eat there next year. It was just great, and I am a very tough food critic.

This was what I had.....

PAPPARDELLE DEL PIEMONTE

sautéed wild mushrooms, spinach, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, parmigiano-reggiano, white truffle oil
