Where am I downplaying this?

Not surrendering to fear is not the same as downplaying. Fear kills.

(especially in times of crisis)

By criticizing the methods taken into stemming the outbreak and the need for a vaccine.

Honestly I don't need any more info. Other than hiring some operatives to do recon inside hospitals. I see hospitals calm, underpopulated. Their staff happily dancing in the street. No one in my circle with even a hint of illness. Couple that with a extensive history of lying by our government supported by their propaganda arm MSM,  I have pretty much all I need to come to the conclusion it's the flu re marketed as fear porn.

Nutbar alert!! ?

Disagreeing about remedies isn't downplaying, it's debating. I've been following the guidelines longer than most on the board I'd be willing to bet (been on lock down since the 12th). I wouldn't be doing that if I were downplaying the virus's impact.

Where I draw the line is the talk of ideas which have no hope of fighting the virus and every hope of taking away our civil rights and liberties in exchange for empty promises. I won't be party to that kind of fear mongering. It serves no one's purposes but the actual enemies of this country (and humanity itself), of which there are plenty.

Hamilton isn’t a big metropolis.  I have friends who work and manage hospitals and this is their war.

Hospitals are empty where?

I'd say most are same as usual or less. Obviously in hotspots like the NYC area they are heavily populated. I've got 6 friends in nursing here in the DC area, all of them are going to NJ or NYC because the need is much greater there.

Know anyone in NY tristate area, because it's certainly not overblown here.  Unless, Cuomo and Diblasio felt like grabbing thousands of random people, throwing them into hospitals and then killing them.

This is the same thing when everyone was doubting what was happening in Lombardy, while southern Italy was calm.

Yeah, if you go by national data, most hospitals are quiet.  NYC metro, not so much.

Careful, you may have just spawned a new conspiracy theory.

Agree that the side effects are overblown because of low risk percentages. I'm in the camp that if it works, great. Do you think it should be given prevntatively or just to patients in trouble?

Back to dude's theory: do you think it's likely, holds promise, is being looked at, should be investigated?

It should be given as prophylaxis, but only in those with a high risk of contracting it.

And yes, it works.  Again not on everyone, but again if it works on even just 1 person...
