Recommended Posts

Before the first official CFP rankings are released, my guess is the final four will be

Clemson

2 teams from the SEC: Alabama, Georgia, LSU

4th slot is the B1G to lose

Undefeated B1G Champ: Minnesota, Ohio St, Penn St

1 Loss Ohio St (if loss is to Penn St)

1 Loss PAC-12 Champ: Utah or Oregon

1 Loss Oklahoma

1 Loss Penn St (if loss is to Ohio St)

My prediction for tonight’s rankings:

1. LSU

2. bama

3. Ohio state

4. Clemson

they want to hype the LSU/bama matchup on Sat as 1 vs 2.

it needs no hype

how will LSU blink first this time ?

this season is a textbook case for an 8 team playoff

no thanks

don't need 3 or 4 total wipeouts in the first 4 games

it's bad enough with the wipeouts of the final four as it is

it's bad enough with the wipeouts of the final game all these years of the BCS and playoff

besides the NFL, the truly superior product, is into the playoffs and we've forgotten 2 of the kids teams that even made the playoff by WC weekend...

not saying its always like this, (but I feel like parity in the top 10 is increasing), but between (arbitrarily) Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Penn State, Clemson, and Oklahoma.... Im not sure if I would bet on any wipeouts.  I also think that through the pile, the winner of Utah/Oregon should have a spot, even with 1 loss.  I also think 8 teams makes it easier for a Central Florida/N Illinois/Boise State inclusion (using recent examples of mid-major teams to make a mark)

Bama and LSU decide it this weekend between them

Georgia or Florida will get their shot to win the SEC title

Penn State and Ohio State will play very soon, that will decide it between them.

there you go, that takes care of a ton of it....

i don't want to see the #1 team beat #8 Northern Frickin Illinois 85-0

and soon a handful of players will opt out of the Championship Game because it's small potatoes to risk their NFL $$$

All undefeated big conference schools will get in:

1) Clemson seems the safest bet

Also possible undefeateds are

2) LSU/

3) Ohio State or Minnesota /

4) Baylor

that would take care of it all pretty simple, there's your four...

not gonna happen.... i totally guess..... one of these teams flops on the way to the playoff (LSU can biff this!!)

outsiders needing losses from the above 4 .....

a one-loss Pac12 Champion,

a one-loss Alabama,

a one-loss Georgia beating LSU in the SEC title game (would kick out Bama on the spot)

bartering for the big $$$ bowl games outside of the playoffs has a lot better room for conjectdure.

You just KNOW, if Bama isn't in the playoff, the committee is going to put Bama and Oklahoma in a NY6 game somewhere....

Tua vs Jalen would draw lots of eyes

the Big 12 is 100% getting an undefeated champ into the Playoff....

Agree. But that champ ain’t gonna be undefeated. OU lost to K-State, Baylor would have to beat OU twice. Not happening.

at the moment the 4 are:

Baylor

Clemson

LSU

Ohio State or Minnesota

extremely pending on a lot still to come...

I’d be willing to bet both Baylor and Minny are behind Bama tonight

rankings don't matter, an undefeated big conference champion will be picked over a one-loss non-champion

hold your horses, relax, and watch some good football games in the next few weeks.

[there's no way Baylor and Minnesota are going undefeated, but let them enjoy their rare 0-loss season to date...]

and we are so overdue for a garbage dumpster winner of the lousy division in a given conference to upset an undefeated powerhouse in the conference title game

I'd enjoy Clemson going down in the ACC title game, won't bet on it...

Committee is showing they value decent wins over a bad loss by putting UGA  ahead of bama. But it will all change.

winning a big conference undefeated miraculously puts a team in the top four

Who ;)

It’s a good thing about NCAAF that teams can avoid playing the top teams in its conference for a lot of weeks and create some interest with no losses

Minnesota at Iowa is now going to attract more viewers than would have tuned in otherwise

Baylor/Oklahoma as well on Saturday

a little while back a middling conference had a slew of undefeated teams into late October and the polls handed them 3 slots in the top 10.  The media went cuckoo over the excellence of the conference, not spending one second thinking about the near future.

It was just a scheduling fluke they hadn’t played each other at the time and they all plummeted as reality hit and losses piled up

there has been chatter of a super conference

it all boils down to that at most a dozen teams are serious about winning a national championship each year, so let them leave and square off

but at the end of the day a University is about research and education and this won’t happen

dont need a super conference this would ruin college football, its fun having teams who aren't expected to win do so , like Minnesota. Also there are A LOT of down teams who used to be good who want to be good again, it wouldn't be fair to exclude them.

keep the conferences and do a playoff, like every other sport does.

I’m good with 8 teams. 5 conference champs, highest ranked non-power 5 team and 2 wildcards. It really isn’t that complicated. This is exactly what it should look like.

I’ve never wanted the super

the system is fine as it is

It’s just college football, it’s overdone as it is
