Reading Between the Lines of Sean McDermott’s Press Conference

Correct. He hasn’t shown a ton at MLB in the NFL. Which is fine because he’s never actually played MLB even in college. He’s a 4-3 OLB. This FO would be smart to take a guy they like in the 3rd if he’s there at MLB. Flank him with Edmunds and Milano.

A guy like Preston Brown comes to mind. Not great. Not expensive. Plays well enough. Will look much better with two very athletic guys on either side of him.

Just my two cents

I've been thinking the same thing. Edmonds might be a better OLB. Unless he bulks up and toughens up, he's not a Luke Kuekly. Vander Esch looks much better at this stage.

I don't know about dreadful, but I've watched him all year and he hasn't shown me that he's tough enough to play the middle.  He's always standing around the pile, helping up the guy who made the tackle.   That's not the attitude you want with your middle linebacker.

Question...Could Milano play middle LB?   Then move Edmunds outside.  Pick up another LB in the draft to groom behind Lorax.

Didn't say you did. But I was talking to someone else. Why feel the need to jump into something that didn't concern you?

Although, some may find it insulting to be called a Richard head...

I wasn't aware that it was only kosher to reply  to an insult if you was directed at you.

Edmunds doesn’t seem to be the big hitter you want in the middle , he has been inconsistent like most rookies . I think he looks awkward do to his height but he runs well and covers from sideline to sideline .he may be better on the outside.

Ive always thought OLB is where he should be

Allen and Edmunds were drafted because of their physical traits and potential.  If Edmunds figures it out, he will be a league leading freak for years with his size and speed.  Allen is in the same situation.  Not polished coming out of college, but will be a baller if he develops with his physical attributes.

Beane didn't draft Allen and Edmunds to win this year, he drafted them to win next year.  Hopefully Beane is proven right.

We all knew this was going to be a bad year for the Bills.  I don't understand the despair on this message board when the Bills look bad during what is clearly a rebuilding year.  We have no O-line, our rookie draft picks are playing like rookies,  and we have no wide receivers, but dammit! we should walk into Foxborough and win right now...

We have someone who has a real chance to be our franchise QB, we are out of salary cap hell, and we have a full contingent of draft picks.  Contrast that to where we were at the end of last season.  Take a breath people.

Solid points. Yeah he has to work on his toughness n physicality. But imo he has done a very good job in coverage , another big reason we have the #1 pass D .

Maybe we should put Josh Allen at RB while we are at it?

That was my next suggestion. I kid, but Edwards is not showing me anything in the middle. I don't think we can survive another season of him. OCs will just run right at him and he can't handle it. He bites too easily, takes bad angles and is always late. Some of it as being as young as he is but perhaps he just doesn't have the middle linebacker sensibilities. Let him use his speed and range to better use then trying to plug runs.

Sorry, but I don't follow. If you are insinuating that I insulted somebody, then by all means, show me the err of my ways

He he will be staying at MLB.

25% of his rookie contract is used up.  The Bills did not get the production you would hope for from the draft capital invested in him this year.   If had been excellent this year, people would still expect an improvement next year.  His performance this year is consistent with a third round draft pick who was a surprise starter.  Nothing suggests he is going to make a great leap forward from here.

I have. I see nothing insulting in any way.

I called his take speculation. Said "gotcha" and thanks for the insight. Am I missing something?

What are you? A SJW or something? You're crusading over nothing.Get over yourself

I did take it as an insult.  Your comment was sarcastic and meant to demean my thread.  Thank you to those who pointed this out

If he stays at MLB it shows the ineptitude of the coaching staff. 20 year olds know how to tackle and lower their pads- he doesnt.

Right, because McDermott and Frazier just don’t what they are doing on the defensive side of the ball......and you do.
