Chiefs played him at safety last year and he was awful. I think that was the sign he was done, surprised it took this long for the retirement.

Always wondered what made him a stud, smartest guy on the field or best athlete.  Get this tells the story.

Chalres Woodson was both I guess, Explaining his longevity

Stevie Johnson gave him plenty of difficulty.

I thought he was over-hyped and overrated.

Undoubtedly very good, just not as good as he thought he was.

As evidenced by his retirement statement, his ego was actually larger than his talent, and he was very talented. ;)

He was never the fastest of CBs.  He was great because he was smart.   His anticipation and technique were unsurpassed, but there comes a time in a player's career when anticipation and technique cannot compensate for decline=ing physical ability.  In the end, Father Time gets us all.

Stevie really played him well and routinely got 100 yard games against him

From enthusiastic first ballot to merely unquestioned first ballot?

I’m sure he’ll be inducted, but I’m not so sure on his 1st year of eligibility. Thurman Thomas had a greater impact ‘Changing the game’ IMO and he didn’t go Year 1.
