With two or three exceptions, the liberals/lefties/democrats that find their way down here aren't prog-fascists. They carry the water for some of that messaging unknowingly, but they aren't violent fascists looking to spread terror. The majority are well intentioned, and reasonable in terms of discussion (if they aren't triggered, or caught in the crossfire of trolling usually caused by the gators/birds/garys of the board). 

 

I would like to think most of the liberals on the board would treat Antifa the same way as most of the conservatives on the board would should they ever meet them in the street. They don't represent liberals anymore than the Klan represents conservatives (imo).

I would echo this sentiment.

 

I've only ever seen one poster down here parrot Antifa rhetoric directly.

 

Most lefties here, just as in every day American society, are good people who simply believe differently, and are currently being gaslighted by entrenched elements of the Deep State who are lashing out in a last ditch effort to protect themselves as they go through their death throes.

I would also add the obvious - if your cause requires you to wear a mask, a hood, or otherwise conceal your identity, then you're probably engaging in contemptible behavior.

I thought most liberals would disavow this awful behavior but from what I've seen most double down on it. I see a lot of rationalization and excuses, but no calls for civility. 

 

The excuses fit into a few categories:

 

1. Some random people on the right did something uncivilized so I'm going to impute those actions to the right as a whole and behave just as badly as the worst among them.

 

2. They called us snowflakes so we're calling for violence and harassment. 

 

3. I attribute Trump supporter's motives to racism, racists are subhuman scum (unless they're racist against whites, then they're wonderful) and deserve to be treated this way. In fact, to show a modicum of civility would be to enable Hitler. Trump is building concentration camps and planning a holocaust, Socialism works, and capitalism destroyed Venezuela. 

 

Ultimately, most of the rank and file are proving to be the hateful, closed-minded, violent, sadistic facists they think they oppose. But it's ok because they have the right intentions.
