We have seen this before - the early offseason "consensus" top LT is a technician who probably has hit his ceiling already (Jonah) - they almost always get leapfrogged by an athletic riser who tests well at the combine and has room to grow into the position. That's Cajuste - his ceiling is higher than any other offensive lineman in the class. And it wouldn't shock me at all if the Bills are hoping he falls to 9 - he'd be the pick in a heartbeat. The medicals will be important at the combine........his reconstructed knee........and the subsequent problems with it could blow up his early draft status. Don't need another Big Mike or Cyrus situation with an early round pick. He's also a Kelvin Benjamin-esque 23 year old draft prospect in an age where that's notably over-aged. I'm with you. I actually don't really like him as a day 1 or high day 2 guy to be honest. Is it just me or does he seem slow to set in pass protection? It appears to me that often when he gives up pressures is is because the rusher is on him before he is set. We've certainly seen knee issues cause slow get-off/OL prospect-bust before. If nerve damage is part of the equation it can be hard to get that quick twitch reaction out of a set stance..........that was an issue with Cyrus K. And to me.........I also have to grade his play on a curve........he's been playing in that air-raid system for 5 years........and he started off his freshman year at 18.5 years so he wasn't like a lot of these early arrival kids. If he comes in heavier, shows well in the strength and speed events, he could go pretty high. Questions include could he play 4-3 OLB or hold up as a 4-3 DE? If he shows up at under 240, he probably can’t play 4-3 DE, but might be a good candidate as a 3-4 OLB. Plays with his hands in the dirt more than not. Polite, on the other hand, I see as a 3-4 OLB. But he is super bendy and explosive as well. Burns might be more experienced at 4-3 end, bu unless he can get to 250 lbs without losing much speed, flexibility, explosiveness he will have trouble in the NFL, in my opinion. 250 is even pretty light for an every down 4-3 end and I won’t be surprised if he is considerably lighter than that. Ed Oliver, DT, Houston - To me, Oliver is still a top 3-5 prospect in the draft and he addresses what is IMO a need for this team; pretty easy decision IMO. 40. Dalton Risner, Anywhere on the O-Line, Kansas State - I feel pretty confident that if he actually falls here, Buffalo will ***** him up. Seems like he's this year's Harrison Phillips in terms of guys that are exactly what Buffalo covets. 74. Isaac Nauta, TE, Georgia - Might be a late riser; Nauta is athletic but not really flexible in terms of quick-twitch athleticism, but he's got good hands and plays hard. 106. Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma - Might have been the #1 RB taken if he had avoided injuries. 125. Stanley Morgan, Jr., WR, Nebraska - I have him rated around #6 or #7 WR in the class; has great hands and knows how get open 137. DaMarkus Lodge, WR, Ole Miss - More of a raw developmental guy IMO. Has decent size at 6'1" and pairs it with 4.4 speed to be a legitimate deep threat. 148. I consider you to be one of the best mock drafters on this board, and I'm including those who I have a high regard for. Your picks always seem to fall where their talent level would lead them to be.
