How Did Manziel Suddenly Become Relevant?

This dude was overrated before he had “problems.”  He literally ran around like a chicken and threw jump passes in traffic to Mike Evans.

Honestly, I really hope he has gotten his life together.  I just don’t think he is an nfl qb, sober or drunk.  Hell of a college player though.

Lousy track record.  He's a known addict and abuser.   He throws for a pro day.  Now he's on a dozen web sites speculating which NFL team will sign him.    I can't stand Kaepernick, but if Manziel is signed and he is not - it would confirm that there is an NFL blacklist.

I'm not a fan of Manziel, never was but I believe in 2nd chances, he would be really no risk of a signing, I'd give it a whirl, any distractions from him and cut ties. Kaepernick is 100 percent being blacklisted imo but on the other hand he isn't a great QB.

Kaepernick threw 16 tds to 4 ints on a terrible 49ers team his last year in the nfl and nearly won a super bowl.

Wow. What a sh*t storm I created.  Two hot messes get a lot of attention I guess.  Don't think Johnny Football deserves the sudden attention.  He sucks.

he did really good things at Texas A&M, I never thought it would translate to the pros much like Tim Tebow. If he can sit and study, work on mechanics anything is possible, I never thought he sucked but in the NFL the windows are so much tighter to throw in and heaving the ball after running around like a chicken with it's head cut off is never a good thing. If he got his **** together and he's willing to learn the ins and out's I don't see how it hurts.

He would have too if Jim Harbaugh had not called 4 straight passes to Crabs at the end of thee game.. During the season in those situations they would often put a FB and TR in the backfield in the shotgun and run a power sweep to Colin. Still amazed me they didn't run that once.

I'm with you. Colin is really good QB. Better than our QBs last year or this so far. Come on Beane. Stop screwin' around. Sign Colin. We're trying to win here.

Looking at this post leads me to believe you did not watch any games kapernick played in the season before last. Even in his best season he was on par with Tyrod, maybe slightly better that season he went to the Super Bowl. He always averaged under 200 passing yards and could run, we've seen that before.  During Kapernicks last two seasons Tyrod was the much better QB. His last 20 games in his last two seasons he had 22 touchdowns and 11 picks, and you think that's a good QB? 1.05 touchdowns a game and .5 interceptions, that's what we call a back up at best.

Maybe you do.  I don't.  Sure I saw some of those games.  He played pretty well I thought. Did you watch any or are you just going by stats?  As I said earlier he was also on a tire fire team with coach with one foot out the door and the other on a banana peel.  That had an impact too IMHO.

I'd still sign him up today if I could.  Battle it out with McCarron for the starting job.  Competition brings out the best.

You must have missed the part where I said I hope he gets his life back together.

Thats different than football

I don't see the difference.  I hope he gets it together, changes his life/attitude and finds success on the field. We could always use more success stories.

My comment was mostly about what he "deserves". Having gone through a much less public issue of my own, I argued that I "deserved" all these things I had lost due to my own struggles. Honestly that line of thought hindered my ability to get better and become the person I should be. I didn't deserve to just walk back to my life and have everyone ignore what happened. Because it had happened. I had to earn everything back and rightfully so.

If Johnny earns the opportunity to resume his playing career, then of course I am all for the comeback story and hope he succeeds. But "deserves" this opportunity? I  can't say that.

But fans don't get to decide what Manziel " deserves". He has talent. Maybe enough to play NFL Quarterback. If the people actually making such decisions for NFL teams decide they want to give him a chance to play in their league, then he deserves the chance. Simple as that.

Of course. He has to earn it and I said that.

Manziel had comparisons to Flutie, and I think he needs to follow his route to the NFL, via the CFL. Manziel will not prove himself carrying a clipboard. He can be a starter in the CFL, and hopefully, for his sake, can find some of that college magic. I went to A&M, and saw more of him than likely anyone else on this board. He did make his reputation by throwing jump balls to Evans, throwing bubble screens, and by scrambling. He needs experience to prove himself, and that will only come in the CFL.

Agreed, he needs game experience and he would be the backup anywhere he goes. Now if a starter got hurt ...
