Bills 2018 Mock Draft Watch

Recommended Posts

(TRADE) 4. Buffalo Bills - QB Josh Rosen, UCLA - This is a projected trade, as the Bills send the No. 12, No. 22 and a second round selection to the Browns to move up to No. 4.

If we look at the passers the Bills recently moved on from (Tyrod Taylor) and acquired (Nathan Peterman and A.J. McCarron), it appears the Bills want a prototypical pocket passer. Rosen is easily the best quarterback that fits that label. Josh Allen might as well. The Bills seemed to be interested in last year’s quarterback class (maybe Mitchell Trubisky specifically) and likely plan to not be near the top of the draft for years. Shoot your quarterback shot now.

McShay has the Bills trading up to 2 to select Allen.  Kiper has them staying but at 12 and 22 to select Termaine Edmunds and Lamar Jackson.

At 53 Kiper has the Bills selecting Courtland Sutton.  At 56 Kiper goes with CB Carlton Davis while McShay has WR James Washington.

2. **PROPOSED TRADE** Bills (from Giants) — Sam Darnold, QB, USC: OK, let's have some fun. Buffalo didn't believe in Taylor and certainly didn't invest in AJ McCarron at a level that would suggest team brass believes he'll replicate his championship feats at Alabama. But with Darnold, widely regarded as the best overall quarterback in the draft, on the board in our scenario, GM Brandon Beane has to complete his systematic trek to the top of the board to get the long-awaited successor to Jim Kelly. But this won't come cheaply given the price the Jets already paid (three second rounders) just to move up three pegs. Giants GM Dave Gettleman could reasonably expect Beane to fork over the 12th and 22nd picks of this draft and next year's first rounder.

if we cant find a trade partner or a qb doesnt fall then i wouldnt mind these 2 picks.

Love the Edwards pick. But, please, no first round cornerback!Either defensive line, maybe a center, or possibly even Rudolf if he is there

Not a fan of the McShay mock.  The Kiper mock has two guys I like, the defenders.  I don't know what to think about Lamar Jackson.  I'm not a Courtland Sutton fan.  Not very explosive and there is no variation in his running routes.  I think he's another version of Kelvin Benjamin.  He's not going to separate from defenders so just throw jump balls all day.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals) Louisville QB Lamar Jackson

If they can’t trade up for a crack at one of these coinflip quarterbacks, here’s a crazy idea: flip flop with Green Bay two picks down. Washington isn’t taking a QB at 13 (right?) so why not fetch something from the Packers, who we think would love Ward? Well, we don’t project trades here, remember? So it’s Jackson, who once (LOL) lost a game to Nathan Peterman. But that was before he was Lamar Jackson, so it’s different now. Seriously, though, he could go up to Buffalo and be ready to push A.J. McCarron — in what surely is the most interesting QB room in America — right away.

That is, if another team that quietly has shown a lot of interest in Jackson for a few years now doesn’t find a way to sneak up and leapfrog the Bills. Keep reading

22. Bills (from Bengals) — Florida DT Taven Bryan

It’s all but assumed that this pick will be traded as the Bills seek to zoom up and take a QB. But if that doesn’t happen, we could see them use this for a high-ceiling player such as Bryan. Kyle Williams is back for one year, and they need more interior pass-rush skill. They also could go for someone such as UTEP's Will Hernandez, who can help the interior on the other side of the ball.

Again, this is all in a if-they-don't-trade up world. That world might not exist in a few weeks.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Bears take a surprise LB at No. 8; four QBs go in top five
by Pete Prisco

As we get closer to the NFL Draft, it's becoming clear that the top four quarterbacks will be off the board by the time pick No. 10 comes around. In fact, there is a good chance four could go in the top-5 picks.
That's how I have it in my latest mock draft (No. 5 for me). I have the Cleveland Browns taking Wyoming'sJosh Allen with the first-overall pick, followed by the Buffalo Bills – making a trade to the second spot with the Giants – taking Josh Rosenfrom UCLA.

2. Buffalo Bills (via mock trade with Giants)

Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA. They make the bold move to go up and get their quarterback of the future. This is a move they have to make considering their current roster makeup.

Analysis: The Bills will do all they can to move up and select a quarterback, but what if they can’t? They lost two starting offensive linemen this offseason and need immediate help up front.

Buffalo Bills

Lamar Jackson

QB

Louisville

Analysis: This is the contingency plan if the Bills can’t move up and draft one of the top three quarterbacks.

Very interesting.  Would much rather have an ILB than a stafety with our 4th pick.  What up with that?

Not a fan of this entire mock LOL.  I see nothing in it that says the team is better.

Buffalo Bills

Round 1 (12): Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
Round 1 (22): Rashaan Evans, ILB, Alabama
Round 2 (53): Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn
Round 2 (56): Jordan Lasley, WR, UCLA
Round 3 (65): Nathan Shepherd, DT, Fort Hays State
Round 3 (96): Jamarco Jones, OT, Ohio State

There is certainly a possibility the Bills package 12 and 22 (with some other picks) to go up and get a higher-ranked QB. If they don't, they have six picks in the top 96 to help a roster that has some areas of need. Mayfield is the most experienced QB in this class and would likely compete for the starting job with AJ McCarron. Evans is a solid linebacker with good pass-rush skills. Davis would provide insurance if the Vontae Davis signing doesn't work. Lasley has first-round abilities at wideout, but has fallen because of off-field issues. Shepherd is a good small-school player and could help fill the hole left by trading Marcell Dareus. Jones provides help on an O-line that lost Cordy Glennin a trade.

MJDs mock draft has the Bills trading up to 5th and taking Allen while Denver gets Mayfield at 12 and Payne at 22. That would just suck imo, would much rather have Mayfield and Payne(or someone) than just Allen.

Don't put any stock in all these mocks but that scenario would particularly suck I think.

Mayfield at 12 would be fabulous, but probably not realistic.

Buffalo Bills

Round 1 (12): Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech
Round 1 (22): Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
Round 2 (53): Anthony Miller, WR, Memphis
Round 2 (56): Billy Price, C/G, Ohio State
Round 3 (65): Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn
Round 3 (96): Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa

So let's assume Buffalo keeps all of these six of these, which I don't think is likely. (Remember: No trades in the "Grade: A" mock!) The Bills have the picks to move up for a quarterback if they want, but they also have the picks to plug holes on a flawed roster.

In this scenario, the Bills get two of the draft's best athletes with their first two picks. Edmunds and Jackson are both raw, but they have the upside to be Pro Bowl players. And with AJ McCarron on the roster, Jackson wouldn't have to start in Week 1. Miller and Price could step in and play immediately. Buffalo added Vontae Davis on a one-year deal but needs another corner opposite Tre'Davious White. Fountain is an under-the-radar big-play threat who had 12 touchdowns as a senior in 2017.

if we can't get darnold and mayfield, i am not opposed to this at all. i would love to have the picks, if there is no deal to be made. i'm gonna get flamed for this, but i can see rudolph having a manning esque career.

Hurst at 22? Sure.  Rudolph at 12 or anywhere in round 1 is horrid.

I'd be pissed if we didn't take Kirk at 53 in this scenario. Steal.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Bengals): Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

The Bills paying AJ McCarron backup-type money and trading into this spot while also holding the No. 22 overall pick suggests they are making a strong play for franchise quarterback early, either by trading up again or staying put. Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott from their days in Carolina should be well aware of how far a defense, a running game and a dual-threat QB can take a team. Mayfield has the "it" factor to finally give Buffalo a long-term solution.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Chiefs): Leighton Vander Esch, ILB, Boise State

The Bills can continue their Panthers copycatting with this pick after getting their Heisman-winning QB earlier in the draft. McDermott needs someone to fly to the ball in the Luke Kuechly/Thomas Davis vein, as Lorenzo Alexander, who turns 35 in May, is their best linebacker.
