Another 3 points.  He was benched and with Nate under center the Bills scored a TD in the 4th.

? So that game masked TTs 4th 3 point game.

4 three point games.  Over 50% of games with TT under center they scored under 16 points.

I agree that it doesn't.  Identify and draft the right prospect in 2018. You then have a cost controlled QB that allows OBD to build up the rest of the team that has many needs.

Wouldn’t paying Cousins mean we have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds to fill those needs

Use those excuses now explain why Cousins had 27 tds and Taylor had 14 ?

4093 yards for Cousins 2799 for Taylor,  excuse it up

This is not about Taylor vs Cousins .  Promo did raise a legitimate question about why the Redskins have been unwilling to give Cousins a long term deal.  No doubt Cousins puts up good numbers but is he the type of QB a team wants to invest big money in long term?

It’s (almost) clear that Jay doesn’t really like Kirk because he’s not his guy.

Redskins gambled and lost with the franchise tag. Cousins continues to be a top tier QB. They are left with franchising him again at $34.5 million or he hits FA. The fact that this guy could hit FA is insane.

The two insane things that happened this year, Garoppolo gets traded for a second round pick and Cousins hits FA. Both NE and Washington completely pooped the bed with these moves.

Lets do the following exercise:

Name me 5 other QB’s in the NFL over the last 3 seasons who have better numbers than Cousins in the majority of these categories over that time (3 would be a majority)

1. TD’s

2. Yards

3. Comp %

4. TD/INT ratio

5. QBR

Good luck finding those other 5 QB’s

YET. We have people that dont want to “overpay” for that. No they would rather have 1029939393939 OUR QB SUCKS threads for the next 5yrs. And in those 1039829393939 threads how many posts would there be stating “you cant win without a QB”.

Paired with a running back like McCoy?   Most definetly.

So so are you saying that Cousins is a to 5 qb?  That he certainly is not.  QB is not a be all end all position. It’s important for sure but can’t mortgage the future when so many other holes exist.

Not really, you can’t... that’s about it.

Yup. Top 5 QB for me. I expect disagreement but the numbers bear it out.

The surrounding cast in Washington is about as bare as any team in the NFC. They have very little tallent. He also puts up incredible numbers regardless. The guy is good. He is very good. He would be worth the money.

This year that might be fair comment. In 2015 and 2016 it was not. He had a good line and lots of weapons.

Brees is amazing and played on some bad teams. They’re letting him walk because of the RG3 fiasco and the bad blood/FO incompetence in Washington.

The point is me ither of us can because outside a LT and TE, both of whom were injured this tear, that team has zilch offensive talent.

If he's a franchise QB, then why hasn't he lifted Washington into a perennial power in the NFC?  They have won the exact same number of games as the Bills in the last three seasons with the same number of playoff appearances.

Is Drew Brees a franchise QB?

He is and the SB ring he won says that.  Next you'll tell me about how the team struggled in the last few seasons before 2017.  While true, he's on another level above Cousins and has perfomed well in the clutch for many seasons.

Um, in the NFL they do.  They did it with Kap, Luck, Stafford, Carr, Tannehill, etc.  QB's get grossly over paid all the time for being young or in prime with upside.  I dont agree with it, but its the way the NFL works right now.

Expand

When was Tannehill ever made the highest paid QB in the league? or Kap?  The other three QBs have all failed for various reasons since signing their huge deals.

I agree Brees is better, but the fact that we're using him as a comparable is a plus for Cousins IMO.
