WR galore at cut deadline

Paul Costa

Recommended Posts

Sammy Watkins - 4.43

Zay Jones - 4.45

Jordan Matthews - 4.46

I feel like either all or none of them are deep threats.

it's not the speed, but winning the 1 on 1 matchup vs the CB to create the separation in the first place

I get whats youre saying but its not the same when the pads come on. Some WRs playing speed differs from their 40 time.

Exactly

Sammys 4.43 is actually slow for him

He plays like he runs a 4.3.

When you look at Jones college tape it doesn't scream 4.45 fourty. He is no where near as fast as Sammy in pads on the field. Doesn't mean he won't be productive but I don't see him as having as many big plays

Matthews can go deep as well. He's big

 There you go again posting forty times in shorts as the key to being a deep threat in pads against actual coverage in games.

I learned this in middle school when i was really fast but lost a lot of speed in pads cuz i had no leg muscles yet :( this and my height effectively left all my football dreams to Madden franchises

I eventually became a successful reefer delivery engineer but it wasnt easy

But you have to stretch the field. Speed does help, especially for Tyrod who's main outlet is a WR streaking down the sideline.

Here are the OP's WR's 40 times per combine at NFL.com:

Kearse 4.58 ,

Inmann 4.47

Dorsett 4.33

Shorts 4.59

I havent seen the others play but i know kearse plays quicker, he usually gets open down field.

Hahahahahah

I'm blessed because I never lost that much speed when I strapped up the pads.

I think i just conditioned my body because I played tackle football since I was 5. I didn't have to adjust

None of the guys who end up being cut will know the Bills' offense, and none will help the team. The best you're looking for is a 14 catch td specialist like Justin Hunter.

he is likely going to be cut from the Steelers. He is a poor mans Bryant

I'd love to see us add a speedster, whether it is Dorsett or another guy, we desperately need some speed on returns and for our play-action passing game. I know that Zay and a few others have straight line speed, but we need a guy that can has good stop-n-go speed (i.e. quickness and acceleration).

And I played in the hood... so I had incentives to run fast

Playing in the hoods easy tho. I remember in highschool it was the rich towns with 3 towns meshed in one highschool program and prepschools we had to watch out for, cuz they fielded a million oversized white people looking like they came out of a super soldier program. Sht was unreal.

Oh, ok. I thought it was because you weren't that fast to begin with. :w00t:

For sure schools like Orchard Park in WNY are always great. It's such a large district

But when a team like South Park in Buffalo all graduate and play 6 years together they are also phenomenal and rare

Are they?

I moved from buf to jersey in mid 90s so i wouldnt know. Jus a lot of hoods, small towns, and private/rich/regional prep schools a couple towns away from each other squashing us in sports put here, consistently.

i agree - why are they looking to move him though?

Just read it on NFL.com it was one of the top headlines. I guess they have a rookie corner who is over achieving. Also made mention of my boy Carson pushing Alex Collins on the block.
