BuffaloHokie13
ESPN put out a piece on each team's weaknesses based on other NFL Executive's opinions. For the Bills:The worry: Buffalo lacks sufficient playmaking ability in the passing game after trading Sammy Watkins and losing Anquan Boldin to retirement.Exec unfiltered: "They traded away their most explosive receiver [Watkins], and even though he was often hurt, when you get rid of that guy, who is your guy? You don't have Robert Woods, you don't have Watkins. Jordan Matthewsis not an explosive guy. He is just a smart, tough possession receiver. Where do they get chunk yardage from in the passing game?" Another thing I found interesting is that Baltimore's worry sounds like where a lot of us Bills fans have been.Baltimore RavensThe worry: Baltimore is spinning its wheels as a team that is not really rebuilding but not really contending.Exec unfiltered: "I might rather be in the Browns' situation than be in Baltimore's situation. Baltimore is just stuck. They are paying Jimmy Smith like he is a top-five corner, but he is not. They are paying Joe Flacco like he is a top-five QB, but he is not. You have some old parts like Terrell Suggs getting phased out, and then they just have so many injuries. At least Cleveland has some flexibility." RoyBatty is alive
Losing Anquan Boldin, LOL. I am a lot more worried about our offensive line, if it is as bad as it was in pre-season having Sammy wouldn't have made any difference. Royale with Cheese
Anquan Boldin and explosive in the same sentence....if it was 2010 it would make sense.
LeGOATski
Charles Clay should be "that guy." He has been grossly underutilized. His RAC ability is awesome and he's a bad matchup for most LBs/DBs. His stiff arm on the safety(?) in the last game was awesome. First down! The dude can make plays and he's being paid to make plays.
billsfan60
Two Things: 1. The one or two 30+ yd completions per game is nowhere near as important as moving the chains with the short to intermediate throws this team has shown the ability to complete AS LONG AS 2. This sieve of an o line gives Tyrod or Nate more than half a second to throw the ball

Yeah, I think they more just meant we were missing some star power. Not sure how the OL doesn't even get a mention unless they know Things will straighten out when Glenn starts to play. row_33
I don't feel sorry for Baltimore fans. They've had a really good run during our 17 years (and counting) on the rack.

HT02
Hello Eight Man Fronts. The Bills do have some talent in the short passing game (Matthews, Jones and Clay) so teams can't stack the box, but the problem is our starting QB is better at the vertical game than he his short crossing routes. That said, I absolutely agree with the Sammy move. Zay Jones has speed and can fill that role. 2. The OL and QB have to both do their jobs. The OL has to give the QB time and the QB has to get the ball out.

There's a lot more than speed that's required to fill that role and you don't know whether Zay can or not since he has yet to play a down in a real NFL game. Over 29 years of fanhood
Tate is pretty explosive. Not sure why he's never made it at WR.
BuffaloHokie13
Tate is pretty explosive. Not sure why he's never made it at WR. It's an opportunity for him for sure. I also think Matthews, in a contract year, has an opportunity to make some plays (not necessarily explosive ones, but a chance to redefine his image before hitting the market). With our current WR corps I think he will get more snaps outside than he ever has before, so it will be interesting to see what he makes of them. dma0034
Flacco deserves his money, he is a top 10 QB and that is something, ask any Bills fan. Rodgers Brady Brees Ryan Carr Newton Roethlisberger Wilson Luck Rivers Cousins Stafford -I take these 12 with no questions before Flacco. Then add in Manning, Winston, Mariota, Smith. Flacco isn't much better than Tannehill or Taylor imo
row_33
Flacco was called a genius for underthrowing his target 20 yards and the WR making the catch and juking his way to a TD in a SB. He's good, he's not better than anyone on dma's list above. and way more teams have a long-term franchise QB than you might think, it's not a miracle to have one.
