Per Carucci, Bills now leaning toward cutting Taylor

Not the case. You have to keep trying until you hit 21. We have not done that for 20 years and where are we now?

Sitting on 17 for the first time since the '90s? I actually love the analogy (regardless of what they do).

So to recap, the Bills are considering: keeping Tyrod, restructuring Tyrod, trading Tyrod or cutting Tyrod?

Cutting Tyrod Taylor because he won't ever be Aaron Rodgers is like hitting on 17 in blackjack. Sure you can do better, but likely won't.

Not a fan of the reasoning.

He might not be that level, but he also isn't the worst. So where does that type of QB leave you?

In the middle. Where Buffalo has been agonizingly for almost this whole playoff drought.

And a QB of Taylor's level will never get you great and never sink you.

So you'll never win a SuperBowl with Taylor (likely) and you'll never be bad enough to Draft a potential Aaron Rodgers.

Hate being in the middle

I think that's exactly what McD said in his press conference.

Depends on how many people are at the table.

The Bills purpose for the last 20 years has been to be mediocre to bad. Never bad enough for long enough to get stocked with elite talent. Never good enough to get to the playoffs or win a playoff game.

I want my team to play to win the whole thing. Tyrod is a bottom 5 starter. You don't pay that guy 30-40 million.

even though the source is nothing more than speculation, you have to really expect him to be gone. sure, McD can come out and say we're exploring all our options before making any decisions but if they really wanted him, he would/will be under center in 2017?

just hope they have a equal or better option come the season opener...?

It's a question of practicalities.

It's a safe assumption that Cardale, Siemian or whoever else not named Romo is going to give us less than TT.

But how much MORE does TT give you for the tens of millions in additional money guarantees and, more importantly, the valuable cap space that could be used to shore things up elsewhere (and yes, I know that cap number for QBs is friendly, relatively)? Especially with a still questionable defense? A couple more wins? Three? How many?

Like I've said since McD broke his silence on the matter earlier in the week, after two months of exhaustive film study and analysis, there was no ringing endorsement of TT like there was for KW for instance. The staff is obviously underwhelmed. While I think that's regretable, it's also the reality.

It won't be a popular decision for a huge segment of fans, but sometimes hard, practical decisions need to be made. And I think the TT decision is one of them.

Well Rodgers was drafted in the 20s of the first round - so technically being middle of the pack would certainly allow us to draft Rodgers. : )

You have to identify your guy and pull the trigger

Tyrod = Kaepernick, roughly. Bills fans have him overrated in my opinion. These types who can't go through progressions well and therefore regularly ignore open receivers in favor of running out of bounds are not worth 30M guaranteed. The worst or one of the worst passing games in the league is not worth 30M guaranteed even if it boosts the running game some. We can grab Kaep for less if that's the kind of "modern," or in other words "limited" or "one-dimensional," offense we want. Kaep actually did better in his first 2 years starting, under Roman, than Tyrod did, and with less pro experience. Neither one is worth Tyrod's contract- they are too limited. The defense beats them by "making them be a quarterback."

Don't let your eyes glaze over on the way out, #5.

Look at the 49ers defense those 2 years and look at ours.....Look at their O-Line those 2 years and look at ours....its a team sport. the 49ers from 2011-2012 were better than the bills 2015/16. BY A LOT. The fact Tryod still led a top 10 scoring offense with a handicapped WRs corp and a defense that spread em quicker then the red light district speaks to how much better than Kap he actually is. Tyrod also pantsed Kap this season if u remember.

Our OL is awesome dude.

Scoring offenses have next to nothing to do with defenses.

TT is Kaep. Put them side by side. It's uncanny.

Dude our OL compared to that 49ers team is not close at all. Kaep couldnt hang Tyrods jockstrap. and TT is just an average QB. If those two teams were close at all and their talent level was the same we would have made the playoffs. And if TT is Kaep than that means with a solid OL and Defense Tyrod can take us to the SB. and you know you dont believe that.

Tyrod had the best running game this century and open receivers all over the field. I'm just not buying the 'blame everybody else' thing with Tyrod, he had every opportunity to come through last year.

First or second year TT maybe. He's getting worse and worse as time goes on. Just like Kaep.
