I would think that one would be wise to let him play the long game rather than criticize every move as it happens. The aid to farmers is a way to temporarily strengthen his hand with China. Our farmers are the most productive farmers in this world and that fact will determine the outcome of this "trade war". All he needs to do is avoid folding and slow play the other countries.
