Touchbacks now go to 25 yard line

Why? Squib kicks?

I'm pretty sure kickoffs will still be limited to the beginning of each half and after each score.

Pretty sure?

you should stand behind your farfetched opinions Sir

I believe this is the same rule in college, touchbacks come to the 25 if I am not mistaken. It may change more than a few aspects of the game. Say you're on the other side of the field, maybe the opponent's 40, and it is 4th down. You're just out of your FG kicker's range. Teams may be more likely to attempt to go for it on 4th down than punt the ball for a measly 15 yard swing, especially if it is 5 yards or less to get a 1st. That's just a thought. It may bring a bit more strategy into punting on the opponent's side of the field.

The NFL is intent on completely ruining its product. Kickoff returns are one of the few exciting plays left in football. They have ruined the running game. They screwed up extra points to the point of absurdity. They make a rule about kicking a player out of the game that will never happen. They keep moving the kickoff forward when kicker legs get stronger instead of back.

So, they make rules to reduce and eliminate kickoffs solely to reduce the risk of concussions that lead directly to CTE.

But Jerry Jones announces today that their is no evidence that football/concussions lead to CTE.

So why change the rules?

Jerry Jones is a hypocrite trying to lessen the impact of impending lawsuits rather than admitting the truth. I hope they get taken for billions in the lawsuits.

They ruined the XP? The XP was the most boring play in football. It was granted. No one watched it. Now, you stay in your seat until its on the board. You don't get a head start on a piss and a beer.

So instead you now miss the first series on offense waiting in the piss/beer line. Great.

I have never turned on an NFL game with the thought, "I can't wait to see the kickoff returns today."

I would say that most have that same rationale however it is a very fun part of the game. There is nothing like an amazing return or a killer open field tackle i.e. Steve Tasker etc...

I see this as the leagues way of keeping the kicking team from kicking it out of the Endzone. Does this make a kickoff specialist a bad thing?

I wonder what this means for Jordan Gay. With touchbacks being less beneficial, I can't see the Bills keeping Gay.

That depends, Can he kick it just short of the end

zone?

I'd venture there's plenty of big plays on par with those things

The kickoff has become the most boring play in football. Even the extra point is more exciting no that they pushed it back. What I would do...

Eliminate the kickoff. Team going on offense just gets the ball on 20 or 25 yard line. The only exception...team is allowed to kickoff if attempting onside kick.
