Help me with my New Years resolution

Recommended Posts

My New Years resolution this year was to work on being healthier and having stronger willpower. To do this, each month I eliminated one thing from from diet for 30 days.

So far I have successfully completed:

Bacon

Fast food

Cookies

Frozen Pizza nuggets

Coffee

Also this month I tried to go Trail running as many days as possible. I was actually doing really well until this week before I had an injury and lots of travel for work. Tough to find time for that unfortunately.

As June starts on Monday, I need to have a new challenge. Any suggestions?

Booze is the credited answer, assuming you drink now. Soda or fried foods could work too, depending on what you typically eat and drink.

Another classic TBD thread that ended in shameful failure for its originator:

Booze came to mind. I'm reluctant to do that because it's summer and I know that would be damn near impossible.

Fried food could be could. I've done soda for a three month period before which was more difficult than I thought.

Anything in a package could be interesting. I've thought about no red meat as well. All good ideas

You could give up all snacks after dinner for a month.

Another good one is crap TV. Don't watch anything that isn't enriching or educational in some way (you draw the line where you want). Or don't watch anything with commercials in it.

Cant help you.

No way I get rid of fast food, cookies, and specially COFFEE.

Get rid of coffee????? Of coffe??? I dont see how that's bad.

Here is what I recommend. Im getting healthier and healthier each year according to my health #s.

1. Drink a lot of water. Just pound that stuff. Add those flavored things if you really need to.

2. Dont eat very very late.

3. Dont have big ass dinners either. Big lunch if you have to.

4. Dont eat too too many snacks. Just a little.

5. Have sex. Cant leave that out.

6. I drink an energy drink almost every day. So I dont know if that's good or not. But my doctor, YES, my doctor said, "I cant tell you NOT to drink them, since you're very healthy, just drink them moderately, not more than one a day"

7. Drink coffee. What's wrong with that?

Anyway thats my advice, but if you want a challenge, try a gallon of water a day.

So you give up the item for 30 days and then go back to each of those bad things or you quit each of them permanently and are adding to the list as you go? Seems like a big difference. I can't see the first one being very hard to do (other than the coffee -- which is insane).

I'm missing the health benefit of #6.
