Pure speculation at this point

"Report: Mutual interest between Jets, Marrone"

http://profootballta...n-jets-marrone/

The Jets are reported to be interested in Mike Maccagnan for their GM position, and Jason LaCanfora reports that its his if he wants it.

Then Maccagnan have a long history together, and he signed Marrone to play O line for the London Monarchs back in 1991.

Would be a certain irony in Marrone drafting another FSU QB as Jets head coach, I suppose. Marrone was not a Geno Smith guy at all in 2013

More on this GM.

We can only hope this is true! Oh, please, please, please, please... :worthy:

Please please please. Oh that would be so awesome. Hackett coaching Geno. Marrone having to deal with the NY Press? This would be so much fun.

Now, granted, Marrone is not a terrible coach. The Jets would be a threat each time we played them. They would beat us sometimes. He's not a total idiot. But I think they would always be a 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 team and I would love if they hired him.

Mike Florio of PFT said that Marrone and Rex share the same agent and it's possible that the Jets could have contacted his agent after learning of his 3-day opt out clause to gauge his interest. Maybe Marrone thought he'd try and use that leverage for an extension. Hope he winds up in NY anyway. Edited by Wesdawg

Good stuff here, and Marrone to Jets might be a real deal http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/48126/doug-marrone-has-ally-in-jets-organization

"Former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone, suddenly a coaching free agent, has an ally in theNew York Jets' organization -- newly hired consultant Charley Casserly. "

"Someone who knows Casserly, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Casserly has been raving about Marrone since he was the Syracuse coach (2009-12). Even then, Casserly was describing Marrone as a future NFL head coach, a rising star in the business.

"He was totally infatuated with him," the person said. "You have to know Charley: When he gets on something, he's a pit bull. I know he's got Woody [Johnson] all lathered up."

Marrone grew up in the Bronx and was the Jets O line coach for five seasons. http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/doug-marrone-steps-down-as-buffalo-bills-head-coach-1.9764212

" Former center Kevin Mawae, one of Marrone's best players during his days as the Jets' offensive line coach, endorsed Marrone's candidacy.

"I'd play for Marrone anytime!" Mawae wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday night. "5 years as my OL coach with @nyjets ranks w/ the best of them!"

I don't like the idea of him going to the Jets at all. Wow.

Just don't know why he'd go there, or why they'd want him. True, he did decent against them in his 2 years in Buffalo, but that had a lot to do with the fact that their offense and QB situations are much worse than ours.

It would be shocking to me if there was not some sort of contact, even if indirectly.
