Will Josh Gordon play this year, after all?

Seems like he really has a case, for failing the drug test. That's a really stupid way to test. If "A" is ok then no need to test "B" even if "B" is way over. But if "A" is over they test "B" and if it's under do nothing. Odd.

Not sure how his DWI would play into it though.

And, oddly, they only test sample B for the existence of the banned substance. The amount of the banned substance in that sample isn't suppossed to be considered - just whether or not that substance exists in it. Very odd. Had the samples been labeled the other way around the test would've been considered negative.

Report: Browns expect to lose Josh Gordon for at least eight games

There isn't any new info in this report, is there? I know it came out this morning, but they have been saying this all along. If it is all or nothing it is a year. If it isn't, could be 12 or even 8 games. But considering he is a repeat offender I am not sure how lenient they will be.

I haven't heard anything about his yet but did just dig these links up. Interesting reads both, I would feel pretty good about it if I were a Browns fan http://fieldandcourt.com/component/k2/item/245-josh-gordon-will-look-to-catch-a-break-with-strong-appeal.html

Any one heard any news on this lately?

the guy got popped a second time for weed and then right after gets a DUI. he deserves the full year, he obviously didn't learn his lesson. then i fully expect him to get caught again while he's sitting out. he might not ever play again at this rate

Ruling expected end of next week now. I highly doubt he wins the appeal.

As much as I hope he plays this year, I doubt it will happen. He's a repeat offender at every level who already had last's year's suspension reduced. The CBA is set in stone with drug tests and they would be opening pandora's box to reduce it for his appeal that it was 2nd hand smoke or the testing process was somehow flawed. Everyone would try to say that. But since it is a 1 year suspension (365 days) and not one season, the fact they continue to play him in the preseason is interesting considered the suspension will be announced end of next week and he could potentially miss most of TC next year.

@MikeGarafolo

BREAKING: Sources tell @FOXSports1 Browns WR Josh Gordon's one-year suspension has been upheld on appeal.

I suspected he would be gone for the year, but they really should make an exception and decide early if he will be allowed to come back next year. And not make the year suspension to this date. So he has a chance to spend training camp with the team. They dragged their asses. Part of it was his fault, of course (the delay) because it was an appeal and they want to give due process. But there is little reason it seems to have taken this long. It hurt the Browns more than it should have already.

I couldn't agree more. They should alter to state new league year not calendar year. He should be able to practice and prepare for next season.

Hard to see him prevailing with the policies in place via a collectively bargained agreement.

@RapSheet

#Browns argued to be able to keep Josh Gordon around the facility while he’s suspended. They’ve wanted to help him. No word if it’ll happen

@MaryKayCabot

Remember, #Browns Josh Gordon will have to test clean and comply with whatever treatment the NFL deems necessary to get back in league.

@RapSheet

No settlement talks too place for a potentially shortened suspension for Josh Gordon, I’m told. So it was always a year or nothing.

“I'd like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the Cleveland Browns organization and our fans," Gordon said in a statement through the NFLPA. "I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing office didn't exercise better discretion and judgment in my case. I would like to sincerely thank the people who have been incredibly supportive of me during this challenging time, including my family, my agent, my union, my legal team, and the Cleveland Browns staff.”

Notice this line in Gordon's statement: "I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing office didn't exercise better discretion and judgment in my case."

Dripping with irony. :lol:
