Taxing the GDP at 15%...we can conclude definitively that Carson is a lightweight. The GDP.

What is the difference between an across the board flat tax of 15% on all earnings, and 15% of GDP?

Carson's alright I get why he's had success early. His taxation views have been the closest thing to "simplton" that I've seen him express. But I don't know him that well.

Just out of curiosity, what's so 'simpleton' about a flat tax?

He's got to talk about his specific idea for his proposed flat tax, it's passage, and it's actual effect/workability more intelligently IMO. He's supposed to be the smartest man in the room, lets here about taxes in a way that is fleshed out.

how much more evidence do you need? http://www.haaretz.com/jewish/archaeology/1.684445. the guy's a total wing nut. he's an embarrassment to his profession.

Admittedly, said bombshell was dropped in 1998, while Carson was speaking at Andrews University, a school associated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to which he belongs. It’s low to trash people for things they did as kids. But Ben Carson is now 64, so he must have been about 47 then, which is old enough to know better.
Moreover, according to the Telegraph, he told CBS News last week thathe still holds that opinion, based on ... well, nothing
perhaps if he read the classics… trump and carson. it's what is the republican party these days. lincoln is turning in his grave.

How embarrassing for birddog, he's behind the curve again.

and check out all those weighty proclamations of his .... a total wing nut..........embarrassment to his profession.............

Someone's been reading all the right handouts.

I guess I'll quote my post from this morning

"...The calmest, smartest candidate (from either party) is ACTUALLY a wild-eyed loon...!" ---- The Media :bag:

Apparently, Ben Carson, a world renown black neuroscientist isn't black enough or sciency enough for the left.

It's amazing how racist stereotypes are OK with the liberal media, if it involves a popular black Republican.

Reminder: Same media that's very curious about Dr. Carson's Pyramid theories actively buried the John Edwards love-child story.

Just Today, cnn has done more research into Ben Carson's background than into Obama's in 8 years.

Carson's quote, ""If you're talking about an $18 trillion economy, you're talking about a 15 percent tax on your gross domestic product. You're talking about $2.7 trillion. We have a budget closer to $3.5 trillion." He went on to say you make up that difference by taxing capital games and corp profits.

In case you don't see the issue, the GDP includes corporate profits, capital gains, AND government spending. So not only is Carson proposing to double tax corporate profits and capital gains, he's proposing to generate 500 billion from taxing the government's 3T in annual spending.

What the what?

You can't take this guy seriously. He's just a different flavor of Donald Trump and a poor reflection of whatever the Republican Party currently says it is.

To your second question, which was not directed at me: I have no problem with a flat tax. Put a threshold or gradient threshold that excludes or has lower impact on low incomes and it makes sense.

Ben Carson thinks the world was created 6000 years ago...

False...

I can unequivocally state that I love science and understand and accept its basic laws. I do not know whether or not the earth is six thousand years old or not, and I'm not sure that such knowledge is important. The Bible says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth." It then goes on to describe the creation week without in any way indicating what the period of time was that elapsed between the first verse of the Bible and the start of creation week. It could have been billions of years, or it could have been less than one day. That means the earth could be billions of years old, or it could have been created in an already mature state by God six thousand years ago.

...Ben Carson's own words from his book One Nation.

Even though it isn't a big deal to him, (when the earth was created) the left has take his words and twist them around. They have to do this because Ben Carson is an icon in areas and communities where much of their base lives. They hate the fact that a poor black mother can raise her kids through hard work and not on the dole. And they hate hate hate to have those kids be as successful as Dr. Carson while applying conservative principles in his own life.

It's so cute how the progressives are desperately trying to discredit all the conservatives to protect their precious criminal heir in waiting and their whackjob fringe socialist. Times are getting desperate for them.

Desperate? Running against Carson would be great. Bring the wacko on!

except that it couldn't. science renders this impossible.

Okay, fair enough - I never think to include government spending as part of the GDP. But I can tell you this for sure - you'd better take both Carson and Trump very seriously. Whether you like them or not, they each resonate with a large segment of the republican party and the right in general who are completely fed up with the policies of the establishment republicans. Don't misunderstand me - my personal favorites among the bunch are Cruz, Christie, and Rubio. The 'experienced' republicans lag in the polls because they're being associated with the establishment, while Carson & Trump have tapped into the same frustration the gave rise to the TEA party factions.

Yes, the tap into the mindless anger of the right wing cry babies. They live in the best country in the world with the highest standard of living and so many things that so many others can only dream about and they cry, whine and stomp their feet screaming like idiots. And we should take them seriously? F them!
