Other teams will do their homework and realize what happened. I'm sure he will have absolutely NO problem at all sprinting to his new team as a disability faker sheds his crutches or wheelchair. Apparently Byrd's feet bothered him last season. Could he play with it? Maybe, maybe not. It's his call and his coaches, but at least, the benefit of the doubt seems called for. Let me state that I don't believe he is faking it. Again I think that admitting he has PF and had it last year really hurts him in terms of securing a long-term contract now or in the future, if it doesn't go away. It also should be clear to anybody that in this situation where the team isn't prepared to commit the value he believes he's worth, he might feel like he shouldn't play until he's healthy so he doesn't aggravate that injury and further jeopardize his earning power. He's within his rights to do so and if the team were telling an injured player to play no matter what, the NFLPA would and should be all over it. I don't know how these things heal or why it has taken this long to do so, but I also doubt Byrd has been sitting around eating chee-tos and watching TV a la Jason Peters. I agree that if he is faking the injury it's a bad faith move, and it would be a black mark on him and Parker. That's exactly why I don't believe he is faking it. Once again, a Voice of Reason. Plantar Fasciitis is very unpredictable. It can be dormant and then a change in conditions can cause it to flare. For example, if Byrd were working out hard, but primarily on gym equipment which has some give to it, changing to a hard surface (astroturf covered concrete) and changing footware might cause a flare. Or, maybe he had a different problem last season that caused him to compensate in some way, and now he has PF as a new problem. Who knows?
