Movie Soundtracks

Got my girlfriend to watch Vision Quest with me. She's never seen it. It always amazed me how great this soundtrack is, but are there any better encapsulates its era? Every one of these songs is the perfect 80's type song, from Dio, Journey and REO to Madonna.

Also, Forrest Whitaker was in this movie.

Journey - Only The Young

Dio - Hungry for Heaven

Sammy Hagar - I'll Fall In Love Again

Foreigner - Hot Blooded

REO Speedwagon - Time For Me To Fly

Madonna - Gambler -This movie was her first cameo on film

Madonna - Crazy For You

Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe

Jon Waite - Change

Style Council - Shout To The Top

Don Henley - She's On The Zoom

I am sure there are a ton of great soundtracks, so name a few...

That's easily one of the most nostalgic films for me...really takes me back.

You're right, that's a great soundtrack!

I am a big fan if movie score soundtracks.

James newton Howard soundtracks from m night shylamans movies are awesome..eg, unbreakable and signs.

Thomas Newman's shawshank redemption soundtrack is a classic.

I also love bill conti's karate kid and rocky scores. The karate kid one is sold as a limited edition.

For musical scores, Backdraft might have the best one I can think of, Days of Thunder is second.

It's a bit dated since it came out in 1993, but nothing will ever beat the soundtrack for Judgement Night. The combination of popular rock/metal bands with rap bands was huge back then. This was before nu-metal.

No. Title Artists Length

1. "Just Another Victim" Helmet and House of Pain 4:23

2. "Fallin'" Teenage Fanclub and De La Soul 4:28

3. "Me, Myself, & My Microphone" Living Colour and Run DMC 3:10

4. "Judgment Night" Biohazard and Onyx 4:35

5. "Disorder" (Medley of 3 Exploited songs: "War", "UK '82", and "Disorder") Slayer and Ice-T 4:58

6. "Another Body Murdered" Faith No More and Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. 4:24

7. "I Love You Mary Jane" Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill 3:52

8. "Freak Momma" Mudhoney and Sir Mix-A-Lot 4:00

9. "Missing Link" Dinosaur Jr. and Del tha Funkee Homosapien 3:59

10. "Come & Die" Therapy? and Fatal 4:27

11. "Real Thing" Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill 3:33

After that, I'd say the soundtracks to both Crow movies...

  1. "Burn" - The Cure (Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Boris Williams, Perry Bamonte) – 6:39
  2. "Golgotha Tenement Blues" - Machines of Loving Grace (Scott Benzel, Mike Fisher, Stuart Kupers, Brad Kemp) – 4:01
  3. "Big Empty" - Stone Temple Pilots (Dean DeLeo, Scott Weiland) – 4:56
  4. "Dead Souls" - Nine Inch Nails (Joy Division) – 4:54
  5. "Darkness (Of Greed)" - Rage Against the Machine (Rage Against the Machine) – 3:41
  6. "Color Me Once" - Violent Femmes (Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie) – 4:09
  7. "Ghostrider" - Rollins Band (Suicide) (Martin Rev, Alan Vega) – 5:45
  8. "Milktoast" (also known as "Milquetoast") - Helmet (Page Nye Hamilton) – 3:59
  9. "The Badge" - Pantera (Poison Idea) – 3:54*
  10. "Slip Slide Melting" - For Love Not Lisa (For Love Not Lisa) – 5:47
  11. "After the Flesh" - My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult (Buzz McCoy, Groovie Mann) – 2:59
  12. "Snakedriver" - The Jesus and Mary Chain (William Reid, Jim Reid) – 3:41
  13. "Time Baby II" - Medicine (Jim Goodall, Brad Laner, Jim Putnam, Ed Ruscha, Beth Thompson) – 3:52
  14. "It Can't Rain All the Time" - Jane Siberry (Graeme Revell, Jane Siberry) – 5:34

The sequel doesnt have a pasteable listing, so here's a link: http://en.wikipedia....ls_(soundtrack)

I don't know if a single person (myself included) has ever seen the movie, but the Singles soundtrack is about as good as it gets for anyone who is a fan of the early 90s stuff out of Seattle.

yiu just sold me. Days of Thunder takes the cake. Any movie that uses Gimmie some Lovin by the Spencer Davis Group so well gets my vote.

If also like to throw in the Movie Iron Eagle for that same exact reason.

Great choices and I'm sure you'll agree that the soundtrack for Singles is right up there, too:

1. “Would” – Alice in Chains

2. “Breath” – Pearl Jam

3. “Seasons” – Chris Cornell

4. “Dyslexic Heart” – Paul Westerberg

5. “Battle of Evermore” – The Lovemongers

6. “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns” – Mother Love Bone

7. “Birth Ritual” – Soundgarden

8. “State of Love and Trust” – Pearl Jam

9. “Overblown” – Mudhoney

10. “Waiting for Somebody” Paul Westerberg

11. “May This be Love” – Jimi Hendrix

12. “Nearly Lost You” – Screaming Trees

13. “Drown” – Smashing Pumpkins

I also really like the soundtrack to Romeo and Juliet from 1996:

Also, in terms of movie scores- I'm a huge fan of John Carpenter:
