Who cares about the roads?

I mean really, it is 7 days out of the year and they are usually Sundays when there hsould be little to no other traffic. Places like San Fran and Pitt have stadiums which have to over come geographic boundries like water or mountains.

The Falls is the place to build the Stadium, it just makes so much sense for so many reasons. It could be one of the main catalysts which put Buffalo back on the right path and start to really bring the pop. back.

 

Wouldn't building it in Buffalo, or at least Erie County, more likely bring Buffalo back?

Given the recent history of the Bills, the league would prefer to not have a stadium too close to Niagara Falls. We don't want to risk any extreme behavior from disappointed fans.

The roads need to be fixed up though... Some of the potholes (especially on Buffalo Ave) are terrible.

 

I'd like to see NF come back from the ashes. It's sad to see my hometown in shambles.

It takes what 10-15 mins to get to the Falls from Buffalo. In most other cities, that is how long it takes to go anywhere...if not much longer.

I live in Atlanta, average commute here has got to be like 20 mins.

I for one would love having Sabre games right after a Bills game. Tailgate, football, tailgate some more, walk to hockey, get home somehow.

I like your proposal but I have one concern.

 

I agree that IF they were to build a football stadium in a location other than the present one that it would need to go downtown somewhere.

 

I also believe that the current stadium is on a 200 acre parcel but I don't know what exactly that includes. ECC for instance is probably not included and then the numerous private lots like Hammer's are definitely not included.

 

Ideally you'd want to shoehorn the stadium somewhere where our legendary tailgating would still be viable.

But i think a stadium that could have a view of the Falls in the background would be amazing on so many levels.

The entire American side of the Falls is a disgrace. I know it will never happen, but it could help the city. A new stadium could create an entirely different area. As much as I would love Bethlehem, the smart move is is East adn North so you pull from Rochester and Candada. Think in terms of a business guys, not fans. If you want to keep the team on an economy that is horrible, and cannot compete with the rest of the country, you place here, pull from both markets, and not complain about the Toronto game. This means we keep our team for a long long time. Otherwise you can be unhappy, and root for the LA Bills.

The SMART move is to improve the transportation means to the games - get bridges to/from Canada fixed and roads on route to stadium enlarged and traffic will flow better for games and non-game days meaning proper public investment. They need to look at mass transit options like buses without trying to turn it in a money stream (cover costs yes). Find a partner who has the political muscle/knowledge to work with customs to bring large groups via bus from Canada and advertise it via Bills website, stadium and via player visits to Canada,. There used to be a west bound train from eastern parts of New York with mini season ticket packages and they need to work on getting that going again.

 

Building a new stadium before building up ticket base is equivalent to signing a 20 Million dollar FA QB w/o a line which can protect him - destined for failure.

Looking at that site in relation to the size of First Niagara Center, it looks like it would be a tight fit for a foootball stadium. And yes, I think having the projects as neighbors is a big issue.

 

I hope the "great fans" of Buffalo are prepared to have ticket prices go up. Depending on how the stadium is financed, I could see increases of 25-100%.

The reality nobody wants to admit is your not building a stadium "over looking" the American Falls unless it's in Canada. If you build it on the American side to see the horseshoe Falls you'd have to be on Goat Island or Niagara Falls State Park and good luck with wiping out park land for 7 games a year. Next to the Injun Casino is as close as your going to get and thats not "overlooking" the Falls and we all know who owns that land. At least he mows the grass every year...lol

I wasn't talking about being in the stadium and being able to see the falls from inside so much as I was thinking of blimp shots of the stadium, falls, bridge, gorge, etc. all juxtaposed in the foreground and background.

It is the number of hotel beds, restaurants, entertainment establishments, transportation etc. Rebuilding in OP gives them space but not much else. Bethlehem property has space too but no amenities. Downtown Buffalo would boost the downtown economy only if it is part of a larger complex to include a new convention center and center piece hotel. That takes alot of money. No easy option but the city, county and state leaders along with business folks will have to come to a decision soon. Each year you wait, the price goes up. I vote for a downtown stadium, open air with the ability to put on a movable roof system. Anyone got a spare billion to invest?

The city clowns couldn't get a bait store built in 10 years of talking. Just how would a downtown stadium

happen? As for NF that is just absurd. Build it next to the ralph and be done with it. Way less city, county and state

"City services, police, fire, EMS, those types of things are required. There's a lot of traffic control, transportation systems that need to be put in place that we look to the host community to provide," said Supovitz.

Specific requirements include a stadium that seats at least 70,000. The new Lucas Oil Stadium will satisfy that.

"The plans that I've seen for Lucas Oil Stadium is incredible. It does look like a tremendous facility," said Supovitz.

Indianapolis also needs at least 30,000 hotel rooms in the metro area. Convention Center officials say the city will have them by 2011. But Indianapolis only has one practice facility at the Colts complex. A Super Bowl host needs two for the teams.

"Both of them to be indoors and they can either be existing facilities which is ideal. But what some cities have done is erect bubbles over outdoor fields. What's really important is that the fields be the same surface as the fields they'll be playing on Super Bowl Sunday," said Supovitz.
