AfterWhat Happened Today, All Buffalo Sports Teams are Inept

Hard to believe it could get any worse for Buffalo sports teams, but today it took another step toward the surreal,

1. Buffalo Sabres trade TJ Brennan, a former second round pick to the Florida Panthers for a fifth round pick. What the hell is that? He was our leading scorer in Rochester, he is very young, he comes to the Sabres as a power play specialist on the back line with a rifle shot and we trade him for a fifth round pick while we keep Hecht on the roster who is 35 years old and can't score on an open net. Absolutely inept.

The Sabres then send Grigorenko back to Quebec and waist a year of his contract. Absolutely inept.

2. Buffalo Bills have no QB, No second WR, No starting guard, no ILB, No second starting caliber CB, and depth problems all over the place, huge amount of free agency money to spend, and the Bills do nothing. Absolutely inept.

3. Buffalo Bulls Basketball Team fires there coach which could lead to the loss of their best player ever, Mcrae, and potentially other starters on a team that could very well make an NCAA tournament run next year. I just have one thing to say. Why now? Why risk this move on the heels of a potential break out year next year? Absolutely inept.

4. Buffalo Bulls Football team signs their inept coach to a contract extension when he hasn't won more than 4 games in a season yet. Absolutely inept.

I could go on and on but it is the same old story year in and year out. No playoffs for any of our Buffalo teams since I don't know when and it appears that this is going to continue for a long long time since these teams have piss poor management.

Cursed. Bring Flutie back to reverse the curse. A one day contract that is.

1. - Brennan can be a situational scorer, but has demonstrated that he will never be an NHL level defenseman........cut your losses, get something in return.

2. - Its March 15. Your list of "open" Bills positions has little to do with reality at this point (FA's, draft, pick-ups)

3. - Coach Witherspoon had 14 seasons at UB, more than enough opportunity to be a consistent winner.

4. The UB football Bulls are lucky to even have a coach........who cares.

Getting a 5th round pick for a player you were going to waive is good value. Not sure why you think waiving him for nothing is the better option.

Nope. Last week their coach tried to fight the opposing coach after an end-of-the-game brawl.

well yeah in THAT game they werent ept at all but they are still at .500 on the season. to demonstrate a complete lack of eptness you have to be at or near the bottom, like the bills and sabres

True, but then they did this:

The Buffalo Bandits announced on Thursday that they had completed two additional trades shortly before Wednesday’s trading deadline. One was unique.

The Bandits gave up a sixth-round draft choice in 2015 to the Toronto Rock. In return, Buffalo received the rights to goaltender Steve Dietrich. The deal is unusual because Dietrich, 43, has retired and now serves as the team’s general manager. Therefore, he completed a trade to acquire himself.

Only reason the Bills haven't done this is bc Buddy can't figure out how to call himself back.

It's a tough time to be a Bills or Sabres fan.

If I may opine on Coach 'Spoon, he is a great person, mentor and recruiter, but he can't coach his way out of a paper bag. It's probably a good thing few of us follow UB basketball because if we did the suicide rate in town would triple.

His teams regularly lose games when they have double-digit leads in the 2nd half. He has had MAC players of the year on his roster (Battle, Watt, and now McRae) and he can't win with them. He is a talent waster.

The UB AD knows that the power teams in the MAC are losing their stars to graduation while UB is returning all of it's starters. 2013-14 is the year UB has the talent to get to the dance. What they need is a coach who can use that talent the right way.

It was a ballsy move, firing a popular, established coach with 3 years left on his deal. (very not like UB!) Hope it works.
