Levitre: Hasn't heard anything from the Bills yet

Recommended Posts

I agree with Levitre, What the Heck is going on at OBD? Do they have any type of solid offseason plan or they just gonna wing it? And by the way, how does Buddy Nix have a job??? We're right back to square one again...

Why should the Bills share their off-season plan with Levitre?

Oh, boy. So we use significant FA-signing cap money as well as a high draft pick on our OL. I love a great OL, but while they're blocking their boots off, who's gonna be the passer they're protecting? Who's gonna catch his passes? And who's gonna stop the run after we score and the other team gets the ball?

I think the zero-sum nature of the cap and the draft indicates we're not too likely to both sign a top-tier FA AND use the top pick on the OL. One or the other at most.

I don't really see the problem here. In this scenario the FA acquisition is in lieu of signing Levitre, & assumes taking BPA where the only 2 QBs worthy of the pick are gone.

Can you imagine?

Fisher-Levitre-Wood-Urbik-Glenn

Edit: Wait are you pushing Glenn to RT?

It should be Left to Right

Glenn-Levitre-Wood-Urbick-Sanders/Harriston

(Levitre plays LG)

Is the best bang for the Bills buck even at 8Mil per year for Levitre.

Plus you get to use your draft picks on other areas of need instead of creating unnecessary holes,(pssst that's how team get better, you cheap jackholes)

I still think the Bills were slick in stashing Sanders on "IR." I believe he can contribute in a big way. No need to waste picks if you sign Levitre is the point in case you missed it.

OBD doesn't have to share what their plans are but if you watch and observe what they are doing you can get a sense what their plans are.

The below attached WGR link is Joe B's comments about the Bills and Levitre. According to someone who is paid to follow the Bills it doesn't look like they are going to keep him.

Levitre's a good player, but he's not going to be steamrolling defensive linemen. For the difference of apx. 1 mil I take Loadholt over Levitre all day & night.

I wouldn't. Levitre from my perspective is a much better player than Loadholt. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I am concerned/confused by the whole situation. They haven't said one way or another about what they want to do with him, yet reguarding several other players, these players were told one way or another pretty early.

My only thought is that there must be some kind of disagreement among the front office folk about it. Because if they were in agreement they wanted him, they would have at very least made an offer. And if they were in agreement to get rid of him, they would have told him they are going to let him go to another team. Or they could be just waiting for the last minute. Either way, I don't like it. I would like them to at least have some open dialogue.

I thought it might be tough to re-sign him, but I would have thought the bills would have made him an offer by now, even a lowball offer.

I think it would be fair to wait until the beginning of FA to pass complete judgement. This is a busy time of the year for NFL teams, and they may be getting to this soon. Hopefully.

its also the time with the most lies - so we really have no idea. especially with a new group in charge that we cant take guesses based off history with.

Exactly. Yesterday afternoon, on Sirius NFL Radio, a Bills fan called in asking about the Levitre situation. The host (I believe it was Pat Kirwin) said that there is time for the Bills & Levitre to get something done and that he believes the Bills will retain him. It's all speculation at this point. Nobody really knows despite what he or she may think...

So Levitre deserves to be the highest paid G in the league? Is that what "deserves?" Because there is NOTHING the Bills could have offered him short of that for him to sign BEFORE free agency. He would have been a FOOL to forego his first (and probably ONLY) chance at being an FA before seeing what the market will bear for his services. Levitre said it himself when he mentioned it was a "once in a lifetime opportunity." He fully intended to hit the FA market all along and who could blame him. But it's not up to the Bills to establish his market price. That's up to Levitre and the other teams he receives offers from. This idea that the Bills "let him go" if he decides to leave is absurd.

Just curious, where are you getting this info from? I'd like to read that link if you have it.

Perhaps the fact that my infant sons have been keeping my up all night every night has caused me to sleep through an entire week, but my calendar reads March 5, 2013...I think unrestricted free agency starts on March 12th, 2013, at 4:00 pm.

Did I miss something, or are the usual folks flipping out over something that hasn't happened yet?

Um, why couldn't they have tried to lock him up LAST year?

It's common sense. Why would Levitre forego his "once in a lifetime opportunity" as he put it, by re-signing with the Bills BEFORE he knew what he could command on the open market? What's the ONE number he would have needed from the Bills for him to decide NOT to test the waters?

Nope....but that's what we have to do this time of year. Speculate, and either get too happy or too freaked out! :flirt:

I suppose that was possible. But I don't think Levitre would have given up his "once in a lifetime opportunity" to test free agency.

Levitre's comments about intending to hit free agency were last year. None of us know what conversations have been had and not. It would be perfectly reasonable to assume at least a prleiminary conversation was held with his agent. It takes two to tango as they say. If he intends to field offers, the worst thing the Bills could do is make an offer to establish the floor for his agent. Very bad negotiating.

And Levitre wonders why the Bills haven't extended an offer yet. C'mon, Andy. Go find out how much you're worth from those teams you end up talking to and then give the Bills a chance to better it.
