First 5 that Doug cuts from Chan era????????????

Recommended Posts

The first few I'd guess to go via which ever way:

McGee

Barnett

and probably Spencer Johnson, though i don't know, maybe he fits in with Pettine's scheme (a one gap guy? vrs. a two gap/Ted Washington/Pat Williams type player? ...but wouldn't this new scheme of Pettine's still need both types to some degree &/or do we have enough one-gappers already??)

Scott's on the fence, but maybe a decent option at safety still?

Wilson, I like, but don't how good he's been at Strong safety.

Moats - might not make it past training camp, but cutting him now might be a bit premature.

Troup " " " "

Fitz - wait a little and see if some trade is feasible??

Shephard - I think would at least be good for depth.

Nelson - I'd like to see come back from the ACL and be a contributor again.

Cant cut any linebackers at this point. We're talking about the FIRST five cut. This new scheme (3-4 or 46 needs plenty of linebackers. And with a new special teams coordinator, he will want as many backup linebackers as possible).

Kelsay - Not worth the money.

(cap saving $4.175M)

McGee - Cannot stay healthy & past his prime.

(cap saving $2.1M)

Barnett - Not worth the money

(cap saving $3.5M)

Brad Smith - We need WR's....likely don't need a wildcat guy.

(cap saving $2.75M)

Apart from low priced backups, these are the only 4 I would definitely cut.

It would save us $12.52M of cap space.

I think the signing of Petine is the best thing that could have happened to Troup. Petine will play both 3-4 and 4-3 though since out LB's suck so bad it will be mostly 4 DL. Troup will get time at NT. Carrington will be the third DT and maybe see time at DE in the 3-4. Johnson will probbaly be cut.

I wouldn't be shocked if only Stevie, Graham, and Nelson are the only returnign WR's even for camp. I think they will sign one high profile veteran WR, and then they will need to choose between Easley, Jones, or a new lower tier FA. They will also take a WR in the top 4 rounds.

I think Chandler stays.

Agree Lindell will be battling all training camp for a spot. If they use a draft pick on a kicker then he is gone for sure. If they just sign an UDFA then it will be a training camp decision.

Fitz will be the opening day starter. Thigpen and T Jackson will be gone unless Jackson signs some stupid incentive laden contract. I think they go into camp with Fitz, a dirst round or second round draft pick, and either a

I suspect Choice will be back. No reason to waste a draft pick on a RB. He will have to battle an UDFA for the third roster spot.

A. Williams will stay especially if they have to tag Byrd instead of signing him to a long term deal.

G. Wilson will remain but is out as the starter. Searcy will start at SS.

As for the LB's, I truly would be ok with getting rid of every one of them. There is not a starter amongst them. Bradham can stay if he can play special teams. Moats, Barnett, Sheppard, and Morrison will all be gone.

I would like to see Kelsay cut as well but I think they bring him back and focus the draft and FA signings at LB.

Chandler drops at least 2 key balls a game. Not good after the catch, to many fumbles

You should be banned from this board forever.

Two balls a game? At least? Implying sometimes 3-4? So he drops well over 30 KEY balls a year? Why am I responding to you? Are you in middle school?

Has he dropped 5 passes as a Bill?

After re-reading this guy's post, he's gotta be a troll. I feel like an idiot for getting duped. I'm a big Chandler fan.

He's the OP of the thread....I really don't think he's a troll.

He's just new here and probably doesn't realize that if you spout ridiculous hyperbole or ill conceived thoughts around here you are likely to get "politely" slammed.

Why would any HC cut Chandler?

I'm assuming The Bills will do what they have to in order to keep Byrd, and try hard to re-sign Levitre...I think Levitre is 50/50 to return...

I agree completely on Scott Chandler. He was not an expensive sign, was forced to take on a larger role once David Nelson went down, makes difficult catches in traffic, and is a reliable target in the red zone. He isn't perfect, but he's a starting caliber TE, and that's more than we've been able to say of that position for quite a long time.

As for Levitre, that depends on who you ask. According to some pundits and insiders, he's looking to test the market. According to others, he'd love to stay badly enough to give the Bills a discount. Here's hoping for the latter.

If memory serves (and it might not), Moats, Sheppard and Morrison were brought in to play the 3-4. I'm not an advocate of making the switch, but if we do, perhaps they will be better suited. Personally, I'm inclined to agree with you, and think it would be much easier to just revamp our LB core than to revamp a larger swath of our defense to accommodate a switch back to the 3-4.

Your first sentence is a flat out fabrication. You're embellishing so I'll respond by saying I couldn't disagree more. I think Chandler has excellent hands.

I agree. When you constantly get drilled after catching a pass down the middle it's tough to hold on to the rock every time. He the best pass catching tight end the Bills have seen in a long time

Each season brings cuts of guys who were on the team the year prior. Depending on what scheme they decide on defense and what happens in the draft will dictate who gets a visit from the Turk. This is either an exercise in futility or people just wanting to dump on players they don't like.

Yeah that was a complete complete lie that had no basis in reality.

I just ignored the troll.

I have to say, this is probably the best thought out of the cut lists. There are definitely people who are not worth what we are paying.

That said, I'm also going to believe that Fitz will be gone as well. This is not to knock Fitz (who I think is a good man, just not our guy), but Marrone comes from an upbeat, uptempo offense and is being handed the keys to a team over which it seems he will have a great deal of control. If I had the chance to make my mark in my first NFL HC debut, I would want MY choice heading the team, even if it didn't come down to the numbers.

If we include "won't be back" with "cut", then Choice plus Thigpen are the two guys who were clearly just "Chan's guys" from prior relationships. They never did close to enough to convince a neutral observer they belonged on the team and are gone.

My prediction: Kelsay wil take a pay-cut and stay.

McGee will probably retire. If he starts camp healthy though, don't be shocked if he wins a job in camp.

None of the LB's other than Bradham are safe.

Fitz is gone if they get a veteran FA, probably stays if they don't - too risky with the 2013 QB class to count on the rookie being the answer.

Wild Fitz prediction: Fitz agrees to run the read option - putting his not-so-young body at risk to keep his NFL starting job!!

You do realize he was playing OLB (for the first time in his career) last season, not playing in the middle?

He did a good job playing the middle in a 3-4 in 2011. He was "charlie hustle" out there.

That's not out-of-position, that's called hitting the age "wall".

Go back and watch the game at New England. Brady engineered an entire TD drive by going to wherever Barnett was on the field EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He was the single weakest link out there and it showed game after game.
