Don't forget that the NYS taxation situation probably made both the Buffalo and Atlanta's final offers pretty even enough, so in the end he and his family stayed put. Unfortunately the Bills have to way overpay on a quality guy like that because of where they're located.

Oh please quit with the tax nonsense. GA tax rate is 6%, a 2.75% difference from Erie County. A $600,000 home in Orchard Park would cost $1.5-$2M in Atlanta.

He was benched because, and only because his knee wasnt healed yet and they tried putting him back in the lineup too quickly. This guy is a stud tackle for the Bucs, and obviously we see they resigned him immediately.

lolz

Bucs re-signed RT Jeremy Trueblood to a two-year contract.

No one else must have wanted him, because James Lee is known to be the favorite to start at right tackle. The 59th pick in the 2006 draft, Trueblood began his career in promising form before collapsing over the past few seasons. He was supposed to be a Jon Runyan kind of power blocker coming out of Boston College.

I would add that it sounds like Clabo gave the Falcons the last chance to match the offer.

If we *knew* they were going to make it $25m for 5 years and we had a chance to match perhaps we would have. But that ain't what happened. Ces't la vie...

You beat me to it. NYS top tax rate is only 3% more than GA. So yes there is a small difference but hardly a $5M difference.

State tax rates for USA.

Does it ever get to the point that you are spending stupid money on a player just to make a point? The Bills supposedly offered Clabo $5M more than the Falcons. If $5M won't move a guy, will $10M? $15M? Especially if his family has a say in it?

I understand what you are saying PTR but we are a team that does have to overpay. Walker and Dockery got more money or equal to what Clabo got and that was years ago, and both of them were not Pro Bowl O-Lineman

You think the Bills want to set the new benchmark for RTs? The league just had a lockout over what players make.

No one else wanted him thats why he was resigned by his former team immediately?? Sorry that doesnt make a whole lot of sense. I love 10 minutes from the stadium, and am very familiar with what goes on here. The problem in Tampa is certainly not Jeremy Trueblood. He and Davin Joseph were the two biggest signings this team wanted to make going into this season.

Jammal Brown finally got his sports hernia, scar tissue out of the way in the second half of last year.

He was a two time pro bowler at LT before his injuries. He's certainly worth looking into.

Surprisingly, Sean Locklear led all RT's in Pass Blocking efficiency, per Pro Football Focus.

Either is going to be a two year stop gap Of course, we'd have to draft someone in the meantime, and drafting OT's isn't something the Bills like to do.

With the new rookie wage scale, that can change.

#17 Jeremy Trueblood, OT, Buccaneers. Age: 28. 1 and a half stars

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

66 games started he has given up 30.5 sack and has had 44 penalties.

Now lets look a D.Bell who many think is a below avg. LT

24 games started he has given up 10.25 sacks and has had 13 penalties.

What about Jared Gaither?

28 GS 9.50 sacks given up and 19 penalties.

Lets take a look at Langston Walker

82 GS 29 sacks and 30 penalties.

What have we learned Trueblood is a crappy RT.

I think at this point the Bills will sit back. the last thing you do is start calling all th eother tackles agents. This second tier of tackles will only try to run the price up, because the Bills woul dlook desperate.

By mid week next week we will know if indeed the Bills went after another tackle or not, but i dont expect a signing today or over the weekend.

He didn't want to leave a SB contender and uproot his family. Stop freakin' crying about it. The best part is 75% of fans had no idea who Clabo was until Tuesday.

Besides, there is the Chris Brown article that says the Bills weren't going for any top free agents anyway to hang our hats on.

So there, rest of NFL! :P

Tyson Clabo is a good example that where you are drafted doesn't necessarily equate to how you develop as a player. He was a Denver 2004 undrafted free agent player out of Wake Forest. He ended up on Atlanta's practice squad in 05. He developed into a quality lineman that a number of teams had an interest in him when he was on the market.

The Bills probably offered him more but he decided to stay with the Falcons when they increased their offer. The Falcons are a playoff team and a legitimate SB contender. No one should be surprised that he decided to stay with them.

As you stated if you can't get a player, especially in this fast and frenzied free agent market, you move on to the next option. Panicking and fretting over any one player in all of this chaos is wasteful and futile.
