You are correct. How will his size or lack there of help us with our biggest problem which is to stop the run? I hope you aren't suggesting we use the #3 overall pick to draft a pass rush specialist who might be too small against the run and have to be pulled on 1st and 2nd down as well as 3rd and short?

Miller can stop the run. Gailey said so himself during senior bowl week. There's more to stopping the run that being a fat piece of crap, but since you didn't see it posted on a youtube video, i don't expect you to understand those nuances.

Wow more incredibly enlightening statements from a would be rocket scientist. "There's more to stopping the run that being a fat piece of crap". I am loath to pick on other people's spelling or gramatical errors but "that"? Really? If you are going to try to insult someone's intelligence don't look like a moron doing it! Thanks for that nugget of wisdom. Nobody here knew that there was more to stopping the run than sheer girth. Your comments are so helpful and insightful. You should get a job as captain obvious teaching developmentally disabled people. They might actually appreciate what you are capable of teaching.

So what is your source of information for Miller's ability to stop the run genius? Gailey? So your opinions are given to you by someone else? I guess seeing it, or not, with your own eyes no longer matters to the internet generation.

I guess you wouldn't understand the subtle nuances unless someone tweeted it to you.

You are thick headed aren't you? Please quote where I refer to myself in that manner. ....

I am not a huge fan of college football but can you elaborate on him stockpiling sacks against weaker opponents? The opponent, their record on the season, the competition they faced?

Obviously by way of my signature I would like us to take Quinn in the draft. I would like my decision to be an informed one and any information good or bad would help.

Not being a college fan are those weak opponents in a weak conference? Again I'm not a fan. Did those teams all have losing records or play inferior opponents or something? I'm really trying to get an accurate, as possible, assessment of Quinn.

Three examples of you admitting you need more information so that you can make an accurate assessment. I'm sorry, but I thought one of the definitions of ignorance is lack of knowledge or education. Again, you get points for admitting your ignorance.

... The consensus "expert" ranking on Orakpo was a bonus.

Then why isn't Miller's "expert" ranking a bonus for him as well?

My bad for expecting more.

No. Your bad for not offering more.

I see you not so cleverly left out the part where I said "and all it connotes". I am well aware of the dictionary definition of the word and you are well aware of the negative implication of the word. Please. Neither of us are that stupid to pretend not to know what you meant. Well, perhaps I should just speak for myself on that point ;)

Your tactics are lame and tired. I watch all the games blah blah blah. So while we are on the subject. How many games do you watch of each of these NFL prospects? I suppose you just happened to watch every minute of every game of Quinn's 2 years ago? You just happened to watch every minute of every game Miller played the last 2 years. Let's not even talk about the assumption that you have the first clue about what it was you saw. I doubt you are even able to have an opinion if it wasn't given to you by a commentator or talking head on College Game Day.

Try speaking to the points not the source of those points. That is a tactic of someone who can't compete on the same playing field. Can't refute the message attack the messenger. LAME!

The irony of criticizing someone else's grammar, yet incorrectly spelling the word "grammatical".

No, neither of us is stupid. I never thought you were. Rather, one of us is ignorant and I stand by my use of the word as the proper one to use in how you describe your own lack of knowledge of the players being discussed. YOU are the one with the problem of connotation. I don't have any hidden meaning in using the word. Perhaps we need to add PARANOID to the list of words used to describe you.

My tactics? Is this the high school debate team? I never said I watched all the games. You keep insisting on that and it's just not factual. Besides, this isn't about the games I watch, it's about the games you freely admit that you DON'T watch. That and your admitted reliance on highlights, stats, and Youtube.

Try speaking to the points not the source of those points. You would have been one of the jerk offs that would have run Einstein and Hawking out of town because they hadn't watched the tape of the big bang and the creation of the universe. How could they possibly know what they were talking about inferring things from numbers, science and empirical thinking?

I believe I satisfactorily spoke to ALL of your points. I can't help it if you take umbrage with the fact that in doing so I very logically and plainly refuted them. I can't help it if you get all defensive about that. Nor is it helpful when, after being faced with that, you have to resort to the childish name-calling. I won't get into the hypocritical nature of some of your post, either. But it's not surprising given your tactics.

I believe Einstein and Hawking would have been thrilled to have a video tape of the Big Bang and the creation of the universe. It would have freed up so much of their time so they could have done other things. Like scout college football players in person, perhaps.

But please keep comparing yourself to Einstein and Hawking in the meantime.

You're welcome, that's a great 40 time. Miller fans can no longer downgrade him in the speed department.

Quinn's stock rising in 3, 2, 1 ...

Are you suggesting that if someone likes Miller then they automatically don't like Quinn?

Ask a Quinn fan if he wouldn't mind having Miller instead, or vise versa. Does a fan like that exist here?...and if they do exist, they've remained silent as far as I've read.

I just got done watching the NFL's "Path to the Draft" and WOW, did Quinn pop off the screen!

He looks like the "Bad Things" freak we've all been waiting for since Bruce Smith left the building.

When you can't defend your point, or counter someone else's, always go after typos and grammatical errors, or claim they have a "man crush"

Well, I'm a fan of both and wouldn't mind if the Bills selected either one of them. For different reasons. I just don't get how liking both is mutually exclusive.

I'm not doubting you, but I didn't see anywhere that he ran a 4.59 40...that would be 0.11 faster than his time at the combine...

.11 is not as huge as it sounds. A misstep, or different type of track accounts for that. It's also like .2 slower than he allegedly ran as a sophomore. Not using this comment as praise or a knock, just throwing out how easily it can happen.

If anyone is not convinced about Robert Quinn go to NFL.com and watch his pro day video. Mike Mayock raves about him and compares him to Demarcus Ware. What Bills fan wouldn't want Demarcus Ware on the team? Also pay close attention to video, you will see a couple of Bills scouts in attendance. Don't underestimate the Butch Davis, Dave Wannstadt connection. Once more, Quinn is the only Top 10 player to have yet to be scheduled to visit OBD and if my memory serves me correctly last year Spiller wasn't invited either.

Second link in bold.

Wow, how did I miss that? Thanks.

Quinn's stock rising in 3, 2, 1 ...

It's impressive, but as I've said (perhaps not in this thread however), I don't think 40 time is a very good indicator for a front 7 player. I mean, Miller was timed as low as 4.49 at his pro day, but what good does that do? I sincerely hope that these guys (as 3-4 OLBs) won't be asked to run 40 yards in a straight line very often.

I tend to find the short shuttle, 3-cone, and 10-yard splits a bit more indicative of a player's in-game speed and short-area quickness.

Quinn's times in those drills look ideal for a classic 9-tech (4-3 DE), but a bit slow for a 3-4 OLB. This is one reason that I'd be cautious about drafting him at #3 overall.

If we're comparing (and we always are I suppose), Miller's times in the short-shuttle and 3-cone are some of the best ever turned in by a front 7 player. Hit the link below, his short-shuttle and 3-cone times are better than that off all but the elite defensive backs! Again, it's just a drill, but it's pretty impressive to me that a guy that performed as well (and as consistently) as Miller has that kind of short-area quickness and athleticism at 246 lbs.

EDIT: oops, forgot to include the link:

I swear, it's not that I don't like Quinn. I actually think he'll be a good player, I just think Miller is a better fit for a rush LB in a 3-4, and I think he's a better pure pass rusher. For Buffalo's needs, that--in my mind--is a safer pick. I think Quinn is riskier. Now, I certainly won't be disappointed with either player, but I'll be more apprehensive about the pick if it's Quinn.

Not that it means anything at all, but Mayock also compared Miller to Ware, so take his comment with a grain of salt.

Just my 1 cent.

Interesting point. I seem to recall some other player who was a first round draft pick that said they were surprised the Bills took him because they hadn't even had him in for an interview. I wonder if this is a common theme with them?
