They are doing it right. You know for all the Nix bashing, Whaley is the guy that runs Free agency to a majoritive extent. He scouts potential FA's then makes recomendations to Nix on who to bring in....which has been pretty much no one so far and I agree.

Peppers? Overhyped. Takes many plays off and is in it for the money only. He was going to the highest bidder which was Chicago. Funny, Washington didn't go after him....hummm....

Dansby? A 'good' ILB that doesn't rush the passer. He is so good Arizona just flat out let him walk. Nuff said.

Vanden bosch (sp). Pure 4-3 DE and he was going to play with his old DC so no one else had a shot.

Kampman? Sucked in the 3-4 in Green Bay, a pure 4-3 DE. Went straight to Jacksonville who sucks as well.

So tell me again, who was it exactly we were supposed to go out and get? I may be wrong but hasn't Buffalo signed a FA on the first day of FA every year from 04-09? What is our record over that time again?

So not only Nix doesn't feel there are any FA's that are going to make a drastic difference, Whaley who has spent a decade with one of the best teams in the NFL when it comes to finding talent, doesn't think so either.

Bottom line no matter how much Bills fans and local media B word and whine and complain, they are doing it right. They are cutting the underproducing fat, and they are not going to go out and just sign someone to appease the fanbase and I love it. I love the fact Nix and company are saying screw the whining fans and worthless media, we have a plan and are sticking to it!

If there isn't anyone out there that can really help your team in FA then dont' sign anyone. I feel when things calm down and some of these guys finally understand their true market value, we will sign a couple guys. But in the end this team is going to be built through the DRAFT first and formost.

Are you all right Darth or is this not you? Because this is extremely positive. Good work. :wallbash:

But you're 100% right. It isn't exciting but good teams are built through the draft. Nix and Whaley both come from successful teams that never do much in FAcy. In fact, they are more likely to let guys go than sign FAs to monster deals.

Our best chance for long term success is to build this team through the draft. Players drafted are cheaper and easier to re-sign. This is a huge draft and hopefully Nix and company nails it to continue building our foundation.

Most people don't get KUDOS for doing absolutely nothing! But then again just like the Rochester paper said, it isn't their money, they were hired to be office decorations apparently.

On the contrary. If it's the best move, they do indeed get kudos for avoiding making bad moves.

Agreed. My only concern is the lack of any exploration whatsoever. (Of course, who knows what actually may be going on behind the scenes.) Maybe they are waiting until the circus level atmosphere tones down, and decent but low key vets can be added for reasonable offers.

I really think that this new front office with Nix, Modrak (unburdened by Jauron and his goons), and Gailey (with his college connections and supporting staff) believes that they can work this year's draft. That's why I do not expect them to be trading away draft picks for RFAs. I hope they are right.

I think they're pretty busy exploring, we just don't hear about it. IMO there's always a ton of chatter and brainstorming around the league but most of it doesn't turn into anything.

I don't care how we rebuild, as long as the team has success (and soon). It has been 10 years since we made the playoffs, and I don't want to wait another three or four years. If signing free agents will help us become competitive and strong sooner rather than later, go ahead. If the front office can build through the draft quickly, great. Teams have been successful building through the draft, and teams have been successful building through the draft and free agency.

Just start winning, please.

Do you really believe that NFL organizations make decisions based on what the fans think? That is an absurd notion. The Bills have been bad because the owner, his installed front office and staff have repeatedly made foolish decisions. Did the fans make the decision for the owner to fire Polian? Of course not. Did the fans clamor for the ill equipped Levy to become a fraudulent GM? Of course not? Did the fans influence the owner to have a marketing specialist become more involved in the football operations? Of course not. Did the fans demand that Dick Jauron be given an extension before his contract ran out? Of course not. Did the fans have any say on the stunningly bad drafting selections of this inept front office? Of course not.

The Bills have been bad for most of their half century history. Their embarrassing performance has NOTHING to do with the pressures emanating from the media and the fans. Bad ownership and inept staff are the reason why the Bills are the Bills. Let's not get silly with how the media and fans influenced this losing organization. The local media do what they do as they do every where else. The local fanbase does what it does as it is done every place else.

No prob. Sorry, I thought it was big news around here but it definitely won't make national waves. Seems like a solid hire of a young guy from a good organization who may be getting groomed to the next GM.

You're not alone. I've only been mildly interested in Bills news since the season ended, so I didn't pay attention to the name of the guy we brought over from Pittsburgh. Until now, I thought this was a play on Chan Gailey's name - I thought he might have put on a lot of weight recently. I pictured in my mind the before & after pictures of Chuck Knox from the Rams/Bills days to the Seahawks days.

I actually have no problem not being big money free agent spenders......I dont see any extreme difference makers in this crop anyway....

BUT

Is we are going to be so draft dependent then our picks had better be SLAM DUNKS......no more Maybin type players that can play immediately but you hope eventually "fulfill their potential"

No more please Buddy

Yeah, "screw the whining fans" who havent seen a winner in over a decade. Give me a break. The Bills will never win with them running this team and Ralph Wilson owning it.

YES!

The only thing that haunts me is the perpetual 7-9/6-10 seasons that just place us out of the running for an instant keeper/starter from our early picks. Even at #9-12 pick, we've been down to 'best player available' -THEN we've drafted daft.. For all the hype from last years rookie crop, Levitre & Wood were made fools of routinely. Maybin? nevermind..

Anyway, I anticipate a more competitive team in '10 -if not yet a winner- so we'll likely be in this draft spot or lower come this time next year. (God, we HAVE to be better than what we witnessed Vs. Cleveland and NYJ.. ) We're forced to hope for better things.

I have no choice but to buy into an entirely new regime who seems to have a plan.

Bolden is oft injured and isn't worth the money he is after. Dansby is a good ILB, not great, Good and again not worth the money. BTW EVERY team has a guy that 'led the team in tackes' and more often than not its the ILB so that stat is worthless.

I'm with your general feeling here and agree with your original post....but don't tell me Bolden isn't worth the two picks they got for him. He'd look great in a buffalo uni.

So you're worried about the 4 backup players and TO that we lost?

As Darth said previously, there isn't anyone worth it on the market this year.

Yes. Fine. Then don't cut players who played big roles for us.

the only moves I see the Bills make are letting go Ingoneto, Denney, Wendley, Josh Reed, TO. That is what is pissing me off about our inactivity. We have so many holes, and now we are creating more. Go ahead and rant that those 5 suck. But they need to be replaced. Who is going to replace them? Plus the need at DE, NT, QB. OLB, LT, RT....and the upgrades at other positions. We are going to have a joke of a 53 man roster. You can only do so much through a draft. And you can only do so much in 3 drafts. How are we improved? This is a team that lost to Cleveland minus the 5 I mentioned and perhaps minus Schobel. I would not be praising the front office. Show me

How about you all answer the questions?

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick Trent Edwards Brian Brohm

FB Corey McIntyre

RB Marshawn Lynch Fred Jackson

WR1 Lee Evans Roscoe Parrish Steve Johnson

LT Jonathan Scott Kirk Chambers Andre Ramsey

LG Andy Levitre

C Geoff Hangartner Christian Gaddis

RG Christian Gaddis Eric Wood(????)

RT Kirk Chambers Jamon Meredith

TE Shawn Nelson Jonathan Stupar Joe Klopfenstein

WR2 Justin Jenkins James Hardy

LDE Chris Kelsay Aaron Maybin Chris Ellis

LDT Marcus Stroud Spencer Johnson

RDT Kyle Williams John McCargo

RDE Aaron Schobel(?)

OLB1 Bryan Scott Nic Harris Ashlee Palmer

MLB Paul Posluszny Chris Draft

OLB2 Chris Draft Jon Corto

LCB Ashton Youboty Ellis Lankster Cary Harris

RCB Drayton Florence Reggie Corner Leodis McKelvin

FS Donte Whitner Todd Johnson

SS Bryan Scott George Wilson

Does that look like a winning team to you? What a horror show! I am flattered by my stalkers. But the truth hurts. Don't shoot the messenger
