Bills...would have to upgrade their stadium as well in the near future

Recommended Posts

Can you imagine trying to build a stadium at either site... that process would be slower than attempting to put up an international bridge.

Nowadays if you grease the right palm, they'll let them just push it in a corner and slap a parking lot over it "to cap it".

Buffalo needs to move beyond that 50s-70s mentality. A Bethlehem Steel site for a stadium is feasible... the location is quite good, but the ground contamination cleanup would take a long time.

Just knock down ECC South and put the stadium there. :nana:

DOMED STADIUM, DOWNTOWN NIAGARA FALLS. "NIAGARA FRONTIER BILLS"

BUILT WITH STIMULUS MONEY. GIVE OBAMA THE JOBS HE WANTS.

It's all there for the taking if we'd just freaking ask.

Let's see a stadium built with my tax dollars when I live in CA or one built with yours who live in WNY? I'll go with the second option thank you very much. It's going to be built with public funds one way or another.

I agree. That's one thing Canada does right. If a team wants a stadium, they pay for it. None of this public funding bull ****.

If we don't take the money someone else will. So we might as well grab some. Getting stimulus money for a new stadium is not a bad idea at all. It should be a dome and should be closer to Toronto. Right in Niagara Falls is not a bad place for it. In fact I could see actually getting a Super Bowl if the stadium were in the Falls right at the border. You'd have the hotels and entertainment attractions right there.

Instead of Canadian fans driving over, they could park in Canada and walk across the Rainbow Bridge. That would make border crossing that much easier. You could even build a covered heated walkway so it's more comfortable.

I can see the Grand Island bridges lined up back to the Peace Bridge on game days,if you think the traffic is bad now, that 8A.M. start in the morning wouldn't be to tailgate,it would be to get to the game on time.

i bet the transportation there is better than it is to the ralph, and dont forget the idea would be to draw in fans from canada and rochester who would take different routes.

I would love to see the Bills upgrade the stadium...to DOWNTOWN Buffalo on the waterfront.

Perhaps slightly south smack dab in all of those brown fields left behind by the steel companies. It would be right on the waterfront, clean up the area, and give downtown Buffalo another needed boost to spur some development and business in the city.

I don't know ultimately why Orchard Park was selected over Buffalo.

I guess it's the same flawed logic that had UB going to Amherst and not the waterfront.

UB should have been downtown. That was a monumental mistake.

A football stadium could be placed anywhere. It gets used 8-10 times a year. A large college campus gets use 365 days a year, allows for spin-off developments in associated fields of study, etc.

A football stadium sits and collects dust.

re: Niagara Falls... the Grand Island Bridges, Niagara Falls Blvd. and River Rd. any other approaches???

I'm not sure what you mean by the last sentence? Are you suggesting those as possible sites, or are you commenting on the roadways....?????

I read a history book about Buffalo. City On The Edge, I believe it was called. It was amazing to read how the original plans and the overwhelming majority of local folk all planned and believed the waterfront was the ideal location for the UB campus.

It was all planned up, when for some reason, the NY State Regents board (in Albany) decided to pick Amherst; despite all of the planning, evidence, and insight suggesting the waterfront would have been better. A good reason why was never provided.

I say, let Niagara Falls become Las Vegas East. You already have a wonderful back-drop and reason why people will come every year. I don't see why (unless part of some ridiculous, socialist idea to "share the wealth" with Canada) the US side of the Falls has to be so crappy. For alot of people, the Falls will be the 1st time seeing the United States. Since we are supposed to be the leading proponent of a free market, shouldn't our side destroy the Canadian? Why is WNY not maximizing its dollars and income to the greatest dollar? Build as many Casinos in Niagara Falls as possible, providing that they return a good chunk to the City and region to support Fire, Police services and help to bulldoze all of the slums and build some nice homes and restaurants, and businesses in that area.

Then, if you want to build a high speed train, let it connect the Falls to a downtown Buffalo with the Bills, Sabres, and Bisons. And could you imagine the spillover to WNY from keeping these dollars in WNY?

Move the Bills stadium to downtown Buffalo.

One of Goodell's main responsibilities is to increase league revenue. And the best way to accomplish this remains for franchises to have new stadiums which typically charge more for tickets and include more high priced luxury boxes.

Over the past 15 years, 20 teams have constructed new stadiums. Additionally, KC, CHI, and GB have made huge renovations to existing parks. That's nearly 3/4 of the NFL with new or significantly upgraded homes.

NFL Stadiums

The commissioner is responsible for the league's health, not individual franchises like Buffalo. He'll step up the pressure on teams like SD, OAK, SF, and BUF to build new homes as a result. Problem is, we all know neither the state or local government have the funding to assist Buffalo. Unless the next owner is willing to spend their own money on a field (in addition to the team purchase price) I can't see the team remaining in WNY.

Niagara Falls is not on an island. You can drive there several ways:

Route 1

Route 2

Route 3

Route 4

I don't know how you drive to RWS but if you get caught in bad traffic you only have yourself to blame. I take Transit to Southwestern and I never see a backup ever. Stay off of 1-90/219.

It will be interesting to see what takes place in the next year or two.

On the one hand, the Bills could really use a move out of Orchard Park and into the actual City they are named after. The NFL is an entity, and as an entity needs to continually feed to survive.

That being said, with the economy of the nation as it is and looks to remain for some time (if not get worse), there simply may not be any option for the NFL to expand...holding a City hostage or not.

Ah heck...maybe China will step up to the plate.

i do not want to sound like a broken record, but the ralph is a perfect venue. besides from having second to none places to tailgate, its a great place to watch a game. there are great sight lines. the people that say it is a "dump", take your elitist attitude and spend your sundays at the art gallery or darwin martin house. most people go to the ralph to tailgate and watch football. the hand wringers worrying about revenue sources , etc, your opinions will never matter, that will play itself out. we do not need psl's because the stadium is paid for. cannot see a problem

Roadways... I don't believe that could all possibly handle the volume whatsoever. Not a chance. Can you imagine Niagara Falls Blvd? With all the street lights... what a cluster**** that would be. Impossible.
