Bills...would have to upgrade their stadium as well in the near future

Recommended Posts

Niagara Falls Stadium. The Grand Island Bridge cant handle the traffic it has now at 5pm on a weekday, let alone a 70,000 football fans.

Tailgating. Really people think that a Niagara Falls stadium will have the same aura to it as the Ralph, and tailgating will be exactly the same. C'mon, it is not that way at all, it will totally change. Theres little tailgaiting at HEinz Field, the rest gets done in Bars. So expect Niagara Falls to become more overpriced than it already is.

yeah they built that useless multilane highway thru the falls. now they can finally get some use out of it

This "where else would they go?" line of reasoning is pretty divorced from reality.

Buffalo's economy is smaller than Louisville, Kentucky's and a small fraction of the size of Portland, Oregon's.

Where else would they go? Anywhere else.

really? last time i checked, i have not heard of anyone remotely interested in moving to portland or louisville. how could a better economy translate into picking up stakes to actually move there? not enough to justify a move. better economy?, does that mean psl's, a debt load from a presumed new stadium?.. i think it is "divorced from reality " to think in those terms.

Goodell is from Jamestown. If anyone will make sure that the Bills stay in Buffalo, it's him. Hate on him all you want for some of his policies, but he's one of the more important figures to look to when it comes to keeping the Bills here.

On that note, how does our Stadium compare to others around the league? Obviously, the Ralph won't hold a candle to Lucas Oil stadium, or that behemoth in Arlington, but what about compared to others like Lincoln Financial in Philadelphia, and Arrowhead stadium?

The Ralph is similar to QualComm stadium in San Diego. It is considered an antique and needs to be blown up. They are considering building a new stadium next to Petco Park.

The Linc as it is called in Philly is a nice stadium. The Ralph doesn't hold a candle to it. The closest comparison I can make to the Ralph is The Meadowlands, we all know how that stadium will end up.

have you been to hte meadowlands??? ralph is a sh^t ton better. its closest to lambeau, browns stadium, arrowhead, land shark amd qualcomm. our acommodations aren't as nice as those but the seating arrangement is significantly better then most. Sports guy wrote a great article how it is better to watch a game at teh ralph then at say gillete or the linc or one of these trendy "new" sports arenas.

upgrade wise - the exterior could use a facelift, dump the club suites as they are hard to sell out, and just make it regular seating. add luxury boxes somewhere else if they ned more revenue. i also ssay leave teh troughs in the men's bathrooms. just something old school about that i'd never want to lose when i have kids coming eventually.

I don't know if the people in Green Bay would ever want Lambeau replaced with a new stadium. Too much history.

...And the people in GB aren't going to hold themselves for ransom money... from themselves for a new stadium. No wonder the NFL closed that loophole, too fan friendly and brings sensible management.

But this won't happen in Ralph's lifetime. He's got the place in OP free and clear, which is no small feat in today's NFL.

It appears the Rams will have to upgrade their dome to keep the team viable. I guess Goodell makes a fair point here.

Updates in Buffalo are pointless. There are fewer and fewer businesses that can gobble up suites or boxes (I believe we are the only NFL city with no Fortune 500 companies. GB has two.) A shrinking population. I realize some of them have simply relocated to elsewhere in Erie County, but many have dashed off to warmer climes. And any number of community needs greater than a $600-plus million football stadium (and this is from someone who believes the loss of the team would be a death knell for an area struggling to get back on its feet).

Part of me wishes the NFL would just put a team in LA already so that we can see which legitimate NFL markets remain. Toronto? OK. San Antonio, perhaps but that's college country. My point is that East Coast/Rust Belt cities are quick to cough up cash to support private enterprise at the first mention of relocation when Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco all play in badly outdated facilities.

I don't care where they build it - I'll still be there for every opener.

However, I just hope they keep those restrooms at the top of the upper deck. I've never seen another stadium with restrooms up there and it's great not having to go all the way down the stairs if you're sitting in the high 300s.

Aside from the whole "another billion of taxpayer money going to build a stadium that will enrich a tiny handful of people while the owner gets a 30 year exemption on property taxes" aspect.

How about having the state donate a useless parcel of land and let the next owner build his own stadium on it.

I would be totally behind a idea like this. I believe this is how the SF Giants new stadium was built.

This may come as a shock to you but you don't have to take the Grand Island bridges to get to Niagara Falls. You can go through the Tonawandas.

Second, why does everything have to be the same? Why can't new traditions be created at a Niagara Falls stadium? You can raze most of downtown and no one would care, so you can still have plenty of parking lots. But then some of the area buildings could become bars and restaurants too, so you have a choice. Or you can tailgate in NF ON at the Casino or the Sundowner. There's be nothing wrong with that!

There is a model for the Bills to follow if they want to within fiscal responsible parameters dramatically remodel the stadium. Arrowhead Stadium was designed by the same design company which built the Bills' stadium. The problem is that the current owner, Ralph, has no desire to contribute a penny for such a project. The owner could sell the team and let the future buyer (if the team is retained locally) worry about that type of major project. But Ralph is not going to let go as long as the team continues to make money for him and continues to appreciate.

It's a shame that the fans in western NY have to put up with this ingrate. But they have no choice in this matter as long as he is the owner.

I am shocked at the overwhelming support for a dome. The games I have been to in the snow where the best. The fans were extra pumped, and the atmosphere was electric. It is cold, but that is part of the fun. Going inside to watch a football game would just feel wrong.

A Super Bowl in Buffalo? That would be good for the area. I thought the NFL was going to start playing the Super Bowl in colder climate stadiums, without domes. I can't remember where I heard that, but I thought there was some strong consideration for doing so. Also, even if the game is inside, there is still the possibility of some inclement weather outside...or more like a 75% chance.

A new stadium would be cool, I guess I would just prefer some massive renovations to RWS, but I am a little bit sentimental like that, but I am not down with a dome.
