Bills interested in Dannell Ellerbe?
Maddog69 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am hoping that the Bills strategy is to aggressively pursue Ellerbe and Kruger. Force B-more to pick one of the other and then we land whichever one they lose. then depending on which on we get (ILB or OLB) sign Pace or Scott from NYJ fill the other LB spot. -
High completion % does not necessarily indicate great accuracy. Fitz has completed over 60% of his passes for 2 straight years but he is horribly inaccurate. That being said, I have no idea if Manuel has accuracy issues, I have not seen him play much.
-
I read that Jax is cutting him because they were disappointed with his range. Doesn't sound like someone I would want to go after. I don't believe he is anywhere near as physical/dirty as his brother.

Buddy doesn't do the contracts. Overdorf does. So, Overdorf screwed the pooch.

I don't like the idea of taking something else at 8 and then trying to trade back up for Nassib (or any other QB) 1.) You risk missing out on the QB you want 2.) You have to give up extra picks that could be used to fill other holes in the roster I like the idea of trading down a little bit if possible and still getting the QB they want along with an extra pick or two. But it is still a risk. This draft is going to be interesting (and nerve wracking)

What qualities do you want in our next QB

Was thinking the same thing. He described 2011 and 2012 Fitzpatrick -
I would like Leodis back for his ST play but I am afraid they are going to overpay him and be forced to let him play on defense. He is not good in coverage.
-
You have it backwards. The list you posted is Mayock's pre-combine list. The new list has Manuel at #2. The headline for todays rankings says it all: "Mike Mayock elevates EJ Manuel in latest draft prospect rankings" and this "Mike Mayock unveils the third edition of his position-by-position draft prospect rankings for the 2013 NFL Draft, which features a dramatic change at quarterback."
-
Well, if they keep Fitz and add Manuel to the group (Fitz, Tjax and EJ), that would be as solid QB group to move forward with.
-
What a crazy year for QBs. The only consistent seems to be Geno. Most of the rankings have had him as the #1 QB and that has not faltered. The rest have all been flipping and flopping all over the place

is it really a given that 'you cannot teach accuracy"? It seems to me that accuracy should be able to be improved with improved mechanics, added strength and repeated practice. This should be true especially in younger players. The older a player gets, the more difficult it might be to make drastic improvements. Just my opinions. -
Are we targeting any big free agents?
Maddog69 replied to BillsFanFromCincy2012's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a ton of LBs available this year. If we could get two decent ones, along with a mid-tier WR (Gibson) and a vet OG, i'd be pretty satisified -
We have more holes than swiss cheese
Maddog69 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you to some degree. But there are 2 problems that still concern me: 1.) Buddy Nix built the current roster, why would we let him have a mulligan to do it again? 2.) By the sound of things, their plan is to fill the current holes with more soso players So, other than giving Marrone and his staff a bit of leeway, it seems like theyre doing the same thing over again. We'll see. -
Assuming I was ridiculously overpaid for my skillset and assuming I would not be able to find another job that would pay me at my current payrate, then yes I would have to strongly consider accepting a reasonable reduction in pay instead of being forced to accept being fired and having to uproot my young family to take a job in an unknown city.

I would love it. He's still got game left.

Adam Schefter just suggested this same thing on Twitter about 2 minutes before you posted.

Dorin Dickerson (update - re-signed with Bills)
Maddog69 replied to buffalobillsgrl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, they're going to need to have all their ducks in a row so they can start tampering with as many UFA's as possible. -

they must be going in reverse order of importance/cost. McKelvin will be re-signed tomorrow, Levitre on Friday and then Byrd will sign a long term, cap-friendly deal and Fitz will accept a huge pay cut on Saturday morning before the tampering window opens. -

I love his twitter handle: scorindorin LOL. -
interesting topic for discussion. I love to hate NE, NYJ and Miami. I would not want to lose that even though it would be cool to create a 'Rust Belt" division: Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.(and even Detroit).

The way I see it, here is Fitz's perspective: He is due a $3m roster bonus and $4.125m in base salary from the Bills if he stays If he is cut, he gets $0 from the Bills. He would be free to sign elsewhere but he has said himself that he realized nobody is going to sign him as a starter. So, the questions to him: 1.) How much does he expect to be offered by another team to be a backup (my guess is somewhere around $2m) 2.) How mush is it worth to not have to relocate his wife and newborn child 3.) Can his ego accept going into the season and having to compete for the starting job with TJax and a rookie. In the end, I think Fitz will accept a pay cut. Something that will reduce his salary this year, replace it with incentives and reduce the cap # for the Bills. I'm really starting to thing he stays.

[closed]I Wanna Go on Record: MATT BARKLEY

I would have no problem with Barkley at 8 -
Peter Lalich - May be worth a flier

take him at 8. None of the other QBs in the draft are any good and we need one desperately. LOL. -
Levitre: Hasn't heard anything from the Bills yet
Maddog69 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would not necesarily make anything out of the fact that the Bills haven't made an offer to Levitre yet. Most team wait until the last minute to sign them Impending UFAs. I saw a comment last week from the Dolphins GM stating that he would start negotiations with his UFA;s on March 5 (coincidentally today) and they supposedly are close to re-signing Hartline). Teams like to get their roster in order, get the contract restruxctures done or at least identified and release the cap casualties. They also like to see who is cut by other teams and determine who might be available before signing their own. Its all business as usual. I feel very confident that the Bills will talk to Andy's agent and will be in the bidding for his services. (although my gut tells me we will get outbid for him). -
on Dan Patrick this morning A. Smith talk, G. Smith talk
Maddog69 replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep. Rumors of the Bills interest in Spiller and Cordy Glenn were just draft smokescreens too.
