Fan Opinion Poll - 2013 draft First 3 rds.
Maddog69 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My dream scenario would be QB, WR, LB. I think those 3 positions have to be addressed early. I assume the Bills will sign LBs and a WR in FA, but that remains to be seen. UFA will have a big impact on draft priorities. But the position we select in each round will also be affected by what other teams do around us and what specific players are available when we pick. I want a QB in Round 1, but if 2 or 3 are gone before we pick, then I don't necessarily want to reach just to get one. On the other hand, if there is a run on QBs in the top 7, then we might be forced to grab the one we like so we don't miss out completely again. -
Important soon to be free agents

Dareus signed a 4yr $20m contract. He has 2 yrs left. I would like the Bills to extend Woods and Chandler ASAP I would wait and see how Carrington and Moats fit with the new defense before extending them. -
"Redzone threat"? He has exactly ZERO touchdowns in his 4 years NFL career. 29 games. 29 catches. ZERO TDs

Will Beatty contract could be the frame for a LeVitre deal
Maddog69 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is my expectation as well. Someone will pay him top dollar. He might not be the best OG in the NFL but he is the best one available this year (just like Mario was at DE last year). I think this will go down like Poz. The Bills will try to sign him but in the end he will go to the highest bidder". I would love for him to stay, but I don't want the Bills to pay him LT money to play OG. -

Nice. That post made me spit out my drink. -
If Geno and Barkley are gone, I would probably pull the trigger on this trade.
-
really interesting suggestion. I would hate to drop from 8 all the way to 31 but those 3 picks would be pretty enticing. Maybe we could then use some extra picks to move back to the mid 1st.

Nice job. Mock drafts are like lottery tickets (very low odds of getting it right). But they are entertaining. I agree with previous posters about Cleveland. I would be surprised if they go QB in Rd1. I also don't think Te'o goes that early. If Barkley is gone before 8, I would love to see the Bills trade down for extra picks. Would love to somehow get Both of St Louis' #1 pick. Maybe our 1 and 3 for their top 2. I'd even throw in a mid rounder next year to make the point values match up.

With the Chiefs out, what other teams above us may go QB?
Maddog69 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see Detroit, Oakland, Jax or Philly trading with someone (like the Jets) who wants to get ahead of us and AZ for a QB. -
What I would do with the Offseason 2013
Maddog69 replied to missthe kgun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have a few options with Fitz 1.) Keep him and pay him $3m in roster bonus and around $4.125m in salary for 2013. Salary cap $10.5m 2.) Cut him. Save 500k on the cap (still have $10m in dead money) save $7.125m in actual dollars 3.) Restructure his contract. Actual saving depend on the restructure. He could simply agree to a salary reduction or they could do a completely new contract. Savings would depend on what is done. 4.) Cut him and them re-sign him at a lower salary. (still would have $10m in dead money) but the actual dollars spent would be reduced I think he gets cut and is gone -
Why does everyone think Matt Ryan is a top 6 QB?
Maddog69 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK. I guess I just don't see the point of debating a specific "rank' on Matt Ryan. Rankings are quite subjective. Stats tell me that he was definitely a top 5 QB this year. Where somebody ranks him is meaningless to me. I will exit the thread and leave you guys to it. And by the way, he is definitely better than RF. -

Maddog69 replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was top 5 in QB rating, passing yards and passing TDs this year. And he was tied with Peyton for 1st in completion percentage, for whatever that's worth. I don't know if he is 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th or 10th best in the league. I don't really care. I know that he is a fanatastic QB and I would piss my pants if the Bills were able to find one as good as him. -
get there as early as you can. It was a mob scene the year I went (2006). Anyone who goes for day one automatically gets in for day two. I don't know if they give out additional entry beyond that for the second day. When I went, it was still just Sat and Sun. It was fun, but I wouldn't it again. Have fun.

Nice write up on Barkley. Thanks for posting. He is becoming my favorite QB in this draft. Is there a chance he is a bust, sure. But that can be said for every player in every draft. I like his onfield production over 4 full seasons as a starter. I like pretty much everything I see and read about him as a person, player and leader. I'd be a proud Bills fan is he was the Bills selection at 8 (or any other pick)

Tyler Bray - QB - Tennessee

BN Nope and neither am I. I was referring to Jim Kelly. I'm saying that it is possible that Bray could mature like Jimbo did. -

I love your plan and appreciate the thought that went into it. I agree with some of your thoughts, disagree with some and think some are wishful thinking 1. Totally agree with getting rid of Fitz now. 2.Totally agree with keeping Byrd. If they cannot sign him, tag him 3. I think Levitre will walk. Would love to see him stay, but I think he will end up taking top dollar somewhere else. The sign and trade thing is a pipe dream. 4. Cutting Kelsay would be fine with me. I would also be fine with restructuring his deal. If he takes a cut, he stays. If not he goes. He's a smart, versatile player who could help in the new defense but not at his current salary 5. I would not trade our best defensive lineman 6.Agree. Would love to see Merriman back 7. NO to VY. If Fitz goes, bring in a guy like Matt Moore or Jason Campbell to compete with T Jax and our rookie QB 8. I expect the Bills to sign a UFA WR. Probably not a top guy but someone like the lesser ones you mentioned (Collie, Siimpson, or a vet that gets cut: Lloyd, Boldin, etc) 9. LOVE this idea. We need another good TE 10. YES. We need LB 11. Would love to see Landry paired with Byrd, but I don't see the Bills paying 2 safeties $6m each. If Byrd stays, we will not be in on Landry. Eric Smith from NYJ will be a Bill. 12. Would love the get Geno but I think he will be gone. I would expect Fisher to be gone as well. I would target Geno or Barkley. If they are gone I'd be happy with the best WR or LB or a trade down for extra picks. 13. Hunter would be a good pick up but I think he will be gone 14. Moot point. We will not trade Levitre 15. I think we will have a QB before Rd3 and I think Manuel will be long gone before Rd3. I'd be happy with Manuel in Rd2 if we don't get a QB in Rd1 16. Another Moot point. I would not trade Williams 17. Never heard of him 18. I love this: "find guys who love the game and would give a kidney to play in this league... " Overall, nice job. If you can pull off all of this stuff, you are hired. Lol. -
That would be fine with me

All of the descriptions of this kind remind me of Jim Kelly when he first got here. Great player, but he was a cocky a-hole. The questions for me is whether the kid is smart enough and works hard enough to be a great player on the field. Most that other stuff will clear itself up with maturity. That being said, I know nothing about this kid so I have no clue whether or not we should draft him. -
Oh, too soon!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.

I have no interest in trading for Mallett. If he were free to be signed, I'd say it is worth a shot to bring him in, but I would not be in favor of trading for him.
-
I think that NE would consider trading him because Brady expects to play atleast 3 more years and by that time Mallett will have become a Free agent and left.

excellent post. Thanks for the info. It is good to hear from people who have actually seen these guys play quite a bit. I'm curious to know if you live in WNY ? Also, if you are basing your judgement against Barkley on the weather conditions in Buffalo, why would those expectations not change in a dome where the weather conditions would be perfect like they supposedly were for every other game of the kids' life? The stereotypes and wild generalizations don't really help your arguments. (i.e: not every kid from Cali is a laid back, surfer type, just as not every black QB is a running QB like Mike Vick).
