Share Your Random Acts of "Go Bills!"
KOKBILLS replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very recently had to take my elderly dog for an echocardiogram...No fun...Anyway...The tech comes out with my dog, young guy. Goes into painstaking detail about my dogs heart issues. He did a great job explaining everything. Asked if I had any questions. I said no, I got it. Then he says "Go Bills!" and offers me a fist bump (obviously I had a Bills hat on)...I felt better about everything instantly... -
I think they'll take Beniers regardless...I really, really like that kids energy on the ice. And I think they should...IMHO it's almost a no-brainer. But even more so if Jack and/or Sam is traded...

Harrison Phillips- Can he become what he was drafted for?
KOKBILLS replied to TBBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well... That's going to be a problem IMHO...I have very little faith that Harrison is even an average caliber NFL 1-tech... If that's our plan B I'm not thrilled to say the least...Maybe he'll take a step seeing as though he was coming off a major injury. But Harrison does not check off enough of the basic physical boxes to stand up inside as the starting 1-tech...As little faith as I have in Butler overall, I think he's a better option behind Star...But we'll see...Would love for Phillips to prove me wrong because he's definitely a great guy... -
He's obviously working pretty hard...Good for Motor... Hopefully it will be good for the Bills because if we can get that kid, Moss, or Brieda to break out in 2021 this Offense will be a hell of a lot of fun to watch...

RD 6, Pick 28 (212): Damar Hamlin, S (Pitt)
KOKBILLS replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just went back and watched ESPN's coverage today (I DVR it and watch the NFL Network live)...Surprised to see how high they were on Hamlin, and Wildgoose for that matter. Hamlin may be the most rare of all players for ESPN because Mel and McShay both loved him...I came away really liking the value on these 2 DB's for 6th Round picks. I think they both have a very decent chance at roster spots in 2021 as ST's players...More so, in a year or two they may be able to positively contribute to this Defense on the back end. At this point of the Draft that's all you can ask for. -
Beane compensatory picks...he's clever
KOKBILLS replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The pressure point seems to be pointing squarely at Harrison Phillips, Zimmer, Efe, Butler, and Bam...Bam may be the safest of that bunch due to his contributions on ST's. He's one of their core ST's players. The Bills figure to mix Rousseau and Basham into the DT rotation on obvious passing downs, which is going to be close to 60% of the time, and that is going to effect how many DT's they keep. I think it's a little telling they did not Draft a DT, nor have they signed a UDFA DT as of yet. There is going to be a different approach on that D-Line in 2020...They can't keep them all...That much is certain. -
The Browns are certainly a good team, but they re-vamped their offensive approach last year for a reason. They know Baker has limitations. The Browns ran the ball 48.4% of snaps in 2020 for a reason...They have to stay balanced because their QB is not elite. And they have the talent at RB and O-Line to run it well... While that did allow them to be very competitive when it worked, the problem was when it didn't...Like the Jets game...They were bad on Offense because the Jets shut down the run (45 yards total, a 2.5 yards per carry average). This is the way NFL Defenses will approach the Brown Offense in 2021, they will make Baker beat them, so it will be up to Baker to raise his game... I don't care what they did on paper so far. If Mayfield cannot raise his game to the next level the Browns will have issues winning their own Division (they lost twice to Balt, went 2-1 vs Pittsburgh but got beat up in the loss early on when the Steelers were healthier, and beat Cincy by a total of 8 points in 2 games), let alone being the #2 team in the AFC... We'll see I guess...

Wait a sec... maybe Brown and Doyle are... Guards?
KOKBILLS replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nah... Beane already dismissed that when it was asked about Brown in the Friday night zoom call...He said they would mix him inside for a couple reps (they do that with everyone), but only in case an emergency happens and they need to break glass...He's an OT...I'm guessing it will be the same with Doyle. They are both OT's...Very athletic, developmental, young OT's that should solidify both Tackle positions (one the eventual starter at RT and the other swing) for years to come as long as they stay healthy and take well to NFL coaching and training... -
RD 5, pick 17 (161): Tommy Doyle, OT (Miami, OH)

That quote on the running game may be the greatest understatement ever...Their running game is light years ahead of the Bills...They have 2 horses and a really good run blocking O-line and scheme... But that's by design. They saw what Baker was going to be in his 2nd season, and they adjusted to his strengths...I totally agree the Browns are getting better...But when it comes to the playoffs I'm not afraid of facing a Baker led team, especially if the Bills D improves the way I hope it will... -

Most of my best friends are Cowboys fans...So I'm going to use that all LB D joke a lot the next few months... But in reality I get it...Too many injuries at LB and they can get out of Smith's contract after next year... -

Cowboys looking to field the NFL's 1st ever all LB Defense... -
I'm assuming Jamar Johnson and Nasirildeen will be long gone by the 5th...One of the Cincy Safeties, one of the Missouri Safeties, or Trill would be nice...Avery Williams would have a REAL good shot at making this team due to his return abilities. I also wonder how turned off teams became with Shaun Wade's 2020 tape on the outside. Could he slide into the 6th or 7th? Because if you view him as only a Nickle or a Safety he could have a nice bounce-back. Smith-Marsette, or Jaelon Darden would work for me. I also really like Dazz Newsome despite that 40 time...Seems like everyone at UNC ran slower than I thought they would. But you can't deny the production. He knows how to get open and could be a guy to develop behind Cole with a late Rd pick... I'm guessing Shelvin goes in the 4th...But if they are looking pure 1/0 tech Tedarrell Slaton could be an option late with some upside. I would not be surprised if they took TE Zach Davidson due to the upside there... Depending on how far he falls I also really like Chris Evans...He's a sleeper RB the Bills could stash that could pay off big time in a year or two...

New OT Spencer Brown joins mafia by jumping through table
KOKBILLS replied to foreboding's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've already watched this 100 times... -
A final point on this pick... I know most of us watched every down of Bills football last year...But in case you forgot the Bills Defense dropped from 9th in the league in 3rd Down Defense (36.44%)in 2019 to 19th in 2020 (41.7%)...I'm certain most of you remember the painful drop off in 3rd and long D this year...There were only 2 Playoff teams worse than the Bills D on 3rd Down (Cleveland and Seattle)... They also dropped from 6th in the league in sacks per game (3.0) in 2019 to 15th (2.3) in 2020...From 2nd in scoring D in 2019 (16.5) to 14th (23.2) in 2020. That's basically a TD per game...From 4th in passing yards per game in 2019 (196.6) to 14th in 2020 (239.5)... McD is a Defensive Coach...None of this went unnoticed... From a personal perspective, as amazing as it was to see the Bills Offense operate in 2020 and watch Josh Allen mature into an NFL star, it was almost equally as frustrating watching this Defense...It is 100% true that maintaining excellence on Defense year after year in the NFL is unlikely...But I doubt very much McD cares about the odds....The truth is, if this Bills Offense can maintain in the passing game, improve running the ball to keep Defenses honest, and the D can return to 2019 efficiency...Well...Then we'll be talking about a legit SB Championship caliber team... And that's why I love the Draft approach this year...The Bills were not good enough, especially in the trenches on Defense...They went long stretches of games not effecting the opposing QB nearly enough...Nothing is guaranteed of course, but McBeane are out to change that in a blunt-force kind of way...And I'm greatly encouraged by the effort...Yes it's going to mean some surprising roster changes are coming to the D-Line...But IMHO it's 100% warranted and needed to take that last big step... 😎
