This team is far better then SOME think
KOKBILLS replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Preseason record means nothing...That much I'll give you for sure...And Levy had a philosophy that was extreme even for coaches that put little emphasis on preseason results... But we're not comparing the Levy teams to this one right? Because those teams were more talented, had better coaching, and way, way, way better vet leadership...There's just no comparison...In those years it was SB or bust...So the preseason games were nothing more than an unnecessary obligation...Marrone has come right out on numerous occasions and said he wants to win these preseason games...It's tough to say preseason results mean nothing when your HC is telling everyone he wants to win them... So...Anyway... -

Talk to Hackett and Marrone... I'm merely assuming what seems to be obvious...That's what they want to do on Offense...That's the identity they want...They want to be a run 1st team...So...If in fact that's what they want to be, they better damn well be good at it or this team is toast... -

This team has the talent to go 9-7 or 10-6...But as far as actual execution we'll see... I really think the key to this Bills season is how effectively they run the ball, because like it or not that is the very core of what Marrone/Hackett want to do...And I'm not talking about being a top 10 rushing team stat-wise like they were last year...I'm talking about being a team that can run the ball effectively, especially on 1st down... The Bills averaged 3.9 yards per carry on 1st down last season...In comparison they averaged 4.8 yards on 2nd down... The SB Champ Seahawks averaged 4.7 yards per carry on 1st down...The #1 rushing team in the NFL last year was Philly, and they averaged 5.1 yards on 1st down...The ability to run the ball effectively and consistently on 1st down is important enough for teams that don't rely on the running game nearly as much as the Bills do...For Buffalo it's beyond essential because of Marrone and Hackett's philosophy... If they can improve the running game on 1st down it will take a ton of pressure off EJ...I really think that's the key to the Bills success on Offense in 2014...And if the Bills have success on Offense they have a chance to be a pretty decent team... -
Preseason or not...Seattle looks like a juggernaut...They look like they are in an entirely different league than Chicago, and it was the same thing last week vs San Diego...

There's only one, and there's only ever been one offensive guru of the Saints...And everyone knows it was not Doug Marrone...

Super Bowl half time acts have to pay the NFL to play

I'd like to add that if it ends up being Rihanna or Katy Perry they should have to pay... Especially for what they are about to do to my ears... -

I don't disagree...And I'm far from thinking Pryor is a world beater...And I do feel EJ will be the better NFL QB between the two when it's all said and done... I do however feel Pryor has a ton more upside than Lewis or Tuel...I think he would have provided far more confidence in case EJ went down again...And he does have enough talent to push EJ which should, in theory, make EJ a better QB in time...

Florio says Marrone will be fired after this season
KOKBILLS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Russ is pretty safe...Albeit maybe not in his current role... I think Whaley has a better than 50% shot of sticking around for at least another year under the new regime...Probably more...He's well respected and young...The new ownership is not going to hear much negative concerning Whaley... I'd put Marrone's chances at 50/50...It all depends on this season...But the Bills will likely have to play a little better than expected for him to stay...If the Bills struggle on Offense, at the very least Marrone will be faced with the possibility of having to replace Hackett if he wants to keep his job... -
This is a pretty broad misrepresentation concerning Sal's opinion of EJ...Sal has been...mostly...an EJ defender...He compares EJ's upside to Steve McNair...Yes he thinks EJ will never be a QB that challenges a 70% completion rate, but he also does not believe that will be a bust...He's never even come close to saying that and I listen to the guy all the time...

Practice squads to ten players

Is that a bad thing? Injuries destroy season for NFL teams...There's an absolute TON of cash invested in keeping the product exciting and consistent...Extra bodies on teams with any sense will certainly not be out there just to get beat up (at least not all of them)...Some are one torn something away from lining up on Special Teams Sunday at 1 PM...It's a minor thing overall...But I think the better teams will use what they are given to have any advantage... -
Joe Buscaglia: Bills 53-man roster projection: 8/18
KOKBILLS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He should have had another vs. the Panthers this preseason...In Goodwin the Bills have something almost no other team has...A WR that will beat just about anyone deep...There are WR's that can win deep, then there is Goodwin's tier...He could be active for only half the season and he's still worth keeping... -

I know it's a minor thing...But I really like this...for whatever reason... I would not mind seeing it get to 12 eventually... -

Hackett's Red Zone playcalling ineffective
KOKBILLS replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hoping to hear more about this Legursky/OG thing tomorrow...They Draft an OG in the 5th who reportedly ran with the 1's all week at RG while Urbik filled in for the injured Williams at LG...From everything I heard on WGR it was a done deal Robinson was starting at RG...Maybe Legursky did get time with the 1's in the Pittsburgh practices, but that certainly was not mentioned by Joe B who said he watched every single snap EJ took on Thursday (at least I never heard him mention it)...Hard to imagine Joe B watched every play in practice, completely missed a rotation at the Guard position, then followed it up by going on air more than once raving about Robinson's play and his chances to dethrone Urbik at RG...Then game time comes and we get Legursky starting?...I just struck me as strange... I know some folks don't think this is a big deal...And maybe it's not...But I'm still squarely on the fence concerning Marrone and Hackett...And after watching Hogan on the field instead of Woods, now I see Legursky on the field instead of Robinson, or even Hairston...This is Legursky we are talking about here...He's literally the reason we signed Williams...He cannot hold up...What is Marrone trying to accomplish? Does anyone...I mean anyone think they will keep Legursky over Robinson if it comes down to that? Then why the heck is Legursky on the field blocking for our best players? Get that kid in there now and let him play with the big boys... Anyway... -
Tell me you're kidding... You are kidding right?...Right?

Agree 100%...

Thanks for that genius input... I can promise you...Whatever you think...I've thought it already... And if you're not looking for opinion on Bills Football on a Buffalo Bills fan message board then I really think you're in the wrong place...

Agreed...He can't pass block players who are going to be bagging groceries in a couple weeks...Personally I think it's mostly between his ears...There have been plenty of RT's who have come into the NFL that lack foot speed...Loadholt ran a 5.53 at his Combine...Cyrus ran a 5.42 and a 5.53 at his 2nd Pro Day...Both are huge men with great wingspans...For whatever reason Kouandjio is not taking well to Marrone's approach...He looks lost and confused out there...Whatever Marrone is trying with him it's not working...
-
Well...I very seriously doubt the Bills are trading Spiller... That being said The Bills Draft a road grater in Cyril Richardson...He struggles initially, but has come on of late...By all accounts I heard (and Joe B spent plenty of time on this subject starting with Day #1 of the Pittsburgh trip) he's starting with the 1's at RG all week while Urbik moved to LG...Then...Come game time...It's Legursky at LG AGAIN...Legursky...AGAIN! Now...I'm not going to sit here and say Joe B is the be-all-end-all when it comes to football evaluation...But it's his job to know and understand what the Bills are doing every day...And several times he pointed out that Richardson was not only looking very good at RG, but also that he was one of the Bills best performers during the Pittsburgh practices...One of the best performers on the entire team! And come game time...it's freaking Legursky starting? Really? Marrone and Hackett never cease to amaze me with the way they over think things...Hogan over Woods...Legursky over Richardson...This kind of thing goes back to Rogers last year for me...I don't get these coaches at all...I just don't get it...
