Polian's Advice to the Pegulas

I think you can pretty safely conclude the bolded...The dude has serious issues...And he's not even close to being as smart as he thinks he is... -

Polian's Advice to the Pegulas
KOKBILLS replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed... There's not many All Star Offenses in the league and finding a Franchise QB is not exactly an easy thing to do...The Bills as an Organization expected Marrone and Hackett to be able to develop a young QB with a ton of raw talent...And when they couldn't (in assuming) Marrone decides it's Whaley's fault for not bringing in a Franchise guy? Like they grow on trees? Now...I'm not completely taking Whaley off the hook because we all knew going into the 2014 season with 3 kids at QB was going to be a huge risk...But the Bills were not going to be able to get much better than Orton anyway...They got Orton...And he started out decent enough...Then he regressed over the season under the awesome tutelage of St Doug and the boy wonder...I'm fairly certain Marrone asked for help along the O-line...And I'm also fairly certain he had input on the players they brought in...Now...Maybe the guys brought in were not Marrone's first choices...But no one can convince me he had zero input...No way...They signed a mid-level UFA OG, Drafted OT's in the 2nd and 7th rounds along with another prospect OG in the mid rounds...Marrone could do absolutely nothing with three of those four additions...And three of the four were rookies...They have to be developed...That's coaching...And despite what some Bills fans want to think there were plenty of Football minds who felt Kujo and Richardson had more than enough raw talent to be successful in time...Whaley also put his job on the line by going out and getting Marrone the best College WR prospect to come out since Julio Jones...Not to mention the additions of Boobie, Preston Brown, Corey Graham, etc...Whaley's not perfect...No GM is...But he's not bad either... But it's all Whaley's fault because he did not give Marrone what he asked for?...Well...What the hell did he want? We all want Andrew Luck and a couple Pro-Bowl caliber OG's...Who doesn't? But it does not work that way in the NFL...And coaching makes a HUGE difference...St Doug and the boy wonder saw their side of the ball regress...Regress...And under the circumstances Marrone got a hell of a lot more talent than any of his predecessors at OBD... Marrone is a joke...Please let him go to the Jets...Please, please, please... -
Oh good grief...bullspit! The Bills return a top 4 Defense, a true #1 WR, a decent stable of RB's, solid ST's, a kicker who is all but automatic, not to mention the fact that they're getting Kiko back in 2015...Rebuild? Whatever... You are greatly, and I mean grossly overstating Marrone and Hackett's effectiveness...In many ways the Bills won despite those two and mainly due to their Defense...Had they been truly efficient at their jobs the Bills would be playing this weekend...Their Offense regressed from their first year...Regressed! The run first Offense that can't run...The ex O-lineman, and ex O-line coach, who was completely unable to get his O-line to execute much of anything...We can't do better than that? Really? I'm not saying the Bills will hire the right guy...But I do know one thing for certain...If they do...If they find a HC who can turn this Offense around...This is a Playoff team, and a darn good one...

Head Coach candidate: Hue Jackson

No thanks...If the Bills are going after an OC it's hard to imagine passing over Gase or Bevell for Jackson... -

Boobie rules!!! Coincidentally so do boobies... It's a win/win... Or is it a win/win/win?

TBD Thoughts on Coaches Yes! Eh. Or Heck NO!
KOKBILLS replied to Lord_MacDonald's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dream - Malzahn - I want to shake thing up on Offense in a BIG way...Would be better if Schwartz stayed on as DC though... Eh - Schwartz...Gase with Schwartz staying as DC No - Ryan (While I respect him...why bring in a HC who's strongest suit is the 3-4 when you have a 4-3 that is top 5 in the NFL?)...Reich (I don't think he's ready...nice story...HUGE risk)... -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
KOKBILLS replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True...And I'm not saying there is not some truth to that either...But that spin would require almost complete ignorance of the truth on the other side of the table...Because even though I may not be able to prove it here I would be willing to bet just about anything that Marrone willfully signed off on both those moves...Not to mention all the good things Whaley did to get the roster to this point... That negotiation strategy would however fall right in line with what I've been saying about Marrone all along...He sees the world as a place where he always has the answers and expects others to understand and trust he knows what he's doing, and that he's always right...He see's him self as a miracle worker...Reality though is quite different... -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
KOKBILLS replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed...No way he walks without some serious indications he'll be sought after...That's what agents do after all... The interesting thing to me will be how much they love him when they actually get a chance to meet him, really sit down and hear him speak, and consider everything he says vs. what he actually did in Buffalo...I would not be surprised at all if Marrone looks good from the outside looking in...I would be surprised if he still looks good after teams put him under the microscope...He's not going to be able to blame the Bills organization as a whole for the regression in the offense, running game, and o-line play during his tenure...That's on him...Not to mention his inability to develop a 1st round QB...And these teams would be absolute morons if they ignored those facts... -
To be honest I'm glad Polian decided not to come and I really don't care how it happened...I mean...Even if Marrone did call Polian and bash the organization it's not like I can hate Marrone more than I already did...I never really liked the guy...But as far as Polian is concerned I'll take blind luck any day...And I think if in fact the Bills were pursuing Polian it's some pretty decent blind luck that he eventually declined...With all due respect to Polian, who is certainly a HOF candidate, he's also a 72 year old man who went on record saying Marrone should be a Coach of the year candidate...Coach of the freaking year!!! That's all I needed to hear to understand I don't want Bill Polian anywhere close to this Organization in a decision making role...He'd just bring in a re-tread, Dungy type anyway...I want to move forward...Not further in to the dark ages of Lombardi wannabee's who still think you can win with 3.5 yards and a cloud of dust... Thanks for the memories Bill...And thanks for turning the job down...

Jets message board ; Hire him now (funny stuff)
KOKBILLS replied to Thirdborn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly don't think he's as much of a phony as he is a bit detached from reality...He sees things his way and no other way...And he assumes everyone understands that his way is the correct way despite some clear evidence to the contrary...He's a legend in his own fantasy world...And he expects everyone to buy in to that his fantasy...He's a weird dude... I swear I noticed it really early on...Something always rubbed me wrong about the guy...He's not firmly planted in reality... -
Head Coach Candidate: Frank Reich
KOKBILLS replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree 100%...Just don't think he's ready yet... This team needs someone who can come in and fix the running game first and foremost to take pressure off EJ who more than likely will be the starter in week #1...I realize SD had injuries at the RB position...but they also have Rivers, which in theory should make it easier to run the ball because he's a QB that can unquestionably burn Defenses...SD finished 30th in rushing offense and 31st in yards per attempt...I don't like those numbers, and I don't think Reich is the guy for the job...yet of course... I would not bet against him...He is super smart, bleeds Red, White, and Blue, and it would be a nice story...But I have severe reservations... -
Head Coach Candidate: Gus Malzahn
KOKBILLS replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm 100% on board with Mazahn assuming they can keep the Defense in place under Schwartz... I think a Malzahn/Schwartz combination would be perfect... -
If this is true...Good grief...Marrone is going to be the most hated man in the history of WNY...And I'm not saying that because I wanted Polian here again...I did not...But this type of activity is about as classless as it gets...Especially because he's basically bashing the guy that kept the team in Buffalo...

Marrone was upset at the Buffalo Media
KOKBILLS replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well...You have a point don't get me wrong... But I think what happened the following week at Oakland is all the explanation anyone needs for exactly why that was still a line of questioning after the big win vs GB...Marrone had almost two full seasons under his belt...And I think the folks at WGR, like a lot of fans, were concentrating more on the fact that Marrone's Offense was clearly regressing despite the bump in the win column...They were holding him accountable...albeit a little aggressively and maybe untimely...But it's not like Marrone had proven he was beyond scrutiny with that GB win...And the critical analysis was going to come hard and heavy after that Oakland loss regardless...So... -

I don't think Frank Reich is ready... Rex makes no sense to me...He's a 3-4 guy and we have a top 5 Defense that runs the 4-3...But...I do like the fact that he's had success vs Belichick... I'm not thrilled with the older retread guys even if they do have Super Bowl rings...I think you have to be in it every year to keep your edge...

Marrone was upset at the Buffalo Media
KOKBILLS replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I'm never 100% happy with WGR...I have to wonder what any NFL team in the year 2014 would expect? I know Russ Brandon got a bit testy with Howard Simon when he asked about Marrone's future recently...And Simon answered Brandon's protest with the simple statement (and this may not be the exact quote) "Your fans want to know...they ask these questions...they want to know..." That did shut Brandon down a bit...And it's the whole point...Yes the questions may be tough at times...They may even be unfair from the Bills perspective...But right or wrong fans want to know...And despite the hope that the local media will turn into some type of communist propaganda machine in the Bills favor, many of these questions are completely valid... There were HUGE holes in Marrone's coaching abilities...He did improve the teams record in 2014...Can't take that away from him...But he was nothing like he was presented to be when he was hired...He was not this forward thinking innovator...He was an old school run first HC who could not develop a running game...There was a constant flow of strange decisions off-the-field along with on-the-field mistakes...Over these two years he lost plenty of winnable games...When he had a Playoff caliber Defense this year, and some nice talent on Offense, he dropped winnable games like Houston on the road, KC at home, and at an Oakland team that ended up with 3 wins...He was an ex NFL O-lineman, and ex NFL O-line coach and by all reports a HC that spent a HUGE chunk of his time working with the O-line only to see the play of the O-line regress not only in his first year...but from his first to his second year after Drafting three O-linemen AND signing a mid tier O-line UFA!!! How is that even possible? The run first HC who saw his running game get worse in his second year...I think that's worthy of a tough question or two... Marrone is a legend in his own mind...He sees himself as a football genius, but the truth is he's not...And while Russ and the Bills organization would like the local media to put blinders on and be thrilled about a 9 win season...that's simply not reality...Buffalo is still a proud football city that is not willing to accept another year without a Playoff appearance...We as Bills fans can see faults in a coach like Marrone a mile away and yes...uncomfortable or not, we'd like to hear answers...What's so hard to understand about that? -
I was thinking the exact same thing...
