Rex Ryan...Defensive genius... Not sure where this team ends up this year...But they are clearly one of the most overrated teams in the NFL on the field right now...This Defense reminds me of Pettine's with basically the same personnel...Rex came in a blew up a scheme that worked and installed something that...to this point...does not...

I hope he returns to stud form...Because the Bills are going to have to win while Shady and Karlos are out...Otherwise there will be almost no room for error by the time they do both return... I mean...Shady is not going to come back until he is ready regardless...But I'm reading a lot about how it's a good idea to rest him until he gets back to 100%...He'll be back for the home stretch and the run for the Playoffs...Which is a fine theory and all...But if the Bills are 2-5 going in to the bye looking at road trips to NE, NY Jets, and KC in three of their next four games I honestly don't think it will matter...Fully healthy Shady or not, they are not pulling themselves out of that hole... I hate to say it this early...But I think the game vs Tennessee is SO important...It gives the Bills a little breathing room until they get healthy...

Williams single-handedly sealed Freddie and Bryce Brown's fate on this roster...The Bills obviously felt pretty secure with his young legs backing up Shady...Williams injury most definitely is the one that hurts most...Because the drop-off from Shady to Williams is FAR less than Williams to Boobie... Maybe Boobie can do something Sunday to change my mind on that...But I'm not holding my breath...

If he's on the field it changes what teams can do Defensively...So joking or not there is a point to it...

That's good advice... I've dabbled a bit and done pretty well...I've more than made my money back in 4 weeks and I enjoy the little rush... Would have cleaned up REAL nice last week had those two TD's not got called back...Had TT and Clay in one tourney that I already finished in the money... Oh well...

Of all the possible explanations over these past 15 years plus...I feel this is the most accurate...and likely...

Rex is going to be Rex...It is what it is and something we all...myself included...should have realized when he was hired...After all, he almost immediately decided to change the #4 Defense in the NFL in order to bring in his system and his DC...That should have been our first clue...I'm guessing just about any other HC would have begged Schwartz to come back...I mean literally begged...I think I know Rex well enough now to know he did not beg...

I think this is an important point...One thing TT has to establish early in games is the fact that he will take off quickly...It will keep Defenses way more honest...All of a sudden it looks to me like he's only looking to run when he's gone through his progressions...And Defenses will take that any day... I'm not saying he should run all the time...But something early in the game to establish the possibility is a big thing IMHO...

Well...I doubt they ever will... But clearly there are really bad judgement calls that cost teams TD's...So I wish there was something that could be done...The speed of the game is a big issue on these calls...Both the penalties that cost the Bills TD's yesterday looked legit live at full speed...But the replay showed differently...And that's pretty tough to swallow...Especially on a long TD play like the Clay pass when you're not exactly knocking on the door...That was a huge play...But anyway...

I don't think it's all bad on Defense...I just don't think it's nearly as good as it should be...Especially considering how much Rex talks...This Defense reminds me already of the 2013 D under Pettine...Except they're not getting to the QB as much, and they're a little better vs the run...But I think there are similarities...And when it's compared to what Schwartz did with the same bunch it's really not good enough... I'm certain there were plenty here on this board who were a bit worried about Rex coming in here and messing up what seemed to be a pretty good thing on Defense...Even if you were like me and liked the hire... One thing I noticed today...and I think they talked about it on the radio broadcast...was the fact that the Bills no longer utilize the rotation on the D-line like they did last year...Now...I know that drove some folks a bit nuts...But it worked and kept the top 4 real fresh...I think it was Murph who commented that Rex is on record saying he wants his best players on the field as much as possible...But that's just another little aspect of how things have changed under Rex... I don't know...Admittedly it may be nitpicking a bit...But this Defense certainly was not broke...And you know the saying...I have to admit I was a little worried about that...Even though I was convinced Rex would make it even better... All that being said if those 2 TD's don't get called back on more than questionable calls, and Bradham makes the tackle, the Bills still win this one...It was just a bad day...
