  1. Agreed... No question figuring out a way to slow down Gronk should be obvious to any NFL coach...To the Bills coaches it should be a requirement... My comments were not meant to suggest that the Bills coaches had good strategies overall because clearly they did not...The comments were more based on the fact that the Bills continue to squander the opportunities they do get against the Pats...Then coupled with the poor strategies you get more of the same blow-out losses we have all come to expect when we play NE... One thing you can rest assured about is the fact that I'm not a Marrone fan...So it's easy for me to be critical of him and his staff...I did however get SO frustrated watching these missteps and mistakes by our players this Sunday...For example...I can't blame Preston Brown for that critical 3rd down catch by Gronk because that was a terrible defensive call...I can however blame Duke for the bonehead play that could have taken 7 points off the board... Plenty of blame to go around...Like there usually is when the Bills play the Pats...No one steps up...Most of them just wilt...
  2. Sorry up front for cherry-picking your post...But who is "everybody." I think most Bills understand the EJ pick was an organizational decision...Whaley had a part in it...But so did Buddy, Marrone, Hackett, even Russ...I don't think everybody is burning Whaley about the EJ pick...Maybe it's just me...But I think most Bills fans are more than willing to give Doug a pass on that one...Especially considering they netted Kiko in the trade down...
  3. Or if Duke actually makes a play on a ball he could have intercepted instead of pushing the WR and giving the Pats 7 points...Or if Robey gets a pick 6 on a play he read perfectly...Or if Graham properly plays the post he was in perfect position to defend...etc...etc... While I really like these All-22 reports, and there is no question the Bills coaches are completely failing in many areas including getting Sammy more involved, this game basically came down to the Bills predictable inability to step-up and make plays vs the Pats...Plays that were available to be made...Especially on Defense... Brady is Brady...Gronk is Gronk...they are going to make some plays...It's a given...The Bills are not immune to it...But they had their opportunities to step up and make some big plays in this game and they failed miserably...Like they usually do vs the Pats...And the beat goes on...
  4. Good analysis by the OP... I've never really been a fan of Marrone's...And I don't think any Bills fan likes Hackett at this point...I agree totally about the predictability of our Offense, and I also agree these two just don't have what it takes to come up with something different...The Offense looks like the football version of jamming a square peg into a round hole at times...It's even more frustrating concerning the running game where we obviously have talent at RB, but our ex O-lineman HC can't seem to figure out a way to block for them consistently...
  5. And Winston does seem to be a special kind of stupid... The kid makes Johnny Football look like a Rhodes Scholar... At the absolute very least he seems to be tremendously immature...
  6. Agreed... And the odds of him making that catch if Williams is looking back for the ball is close to slim and none...That ball is coming down in the middle of the end-zone...Not the back half where it needed to be...It even looks to me like Edelman was beginning to slow up ever so slightly before Duke pushes him... Anyway...I think assuming that would have been an easy catch for Edelman is incorrect...Williams is only about a half a step behind Edelman when they hit the goal-line...For it to be an easy catch the ball would have to have been placed perfectly in the back corner of the end-zone...And it wasn't...it was short...
  7. Exactly... Edelman has a step for sure...so it looked like it would have been an easy 6 at first glance...As it turned out the ball was ever-so-slightly under-thrown which put Williams in the perfect position to make a damn play had he just turned around...The Ball hits Duke in the helmet...Plus you have the length of Duke's arms...Had he turned around he would have been able to box Edelman out easily...Had he just continued to run and not push Edelman the ball still probably hits Duke in the back...
  8. And that's just the penalties called against the Bills...It does not touch on the non-calls the Pats get every game doing the exact same thing other teams get automatically called for...
  9. I'll add to this by saying that of the many poor calls and no-calls this season non was more egregious than the last play in the Texans game...Woods was basically mauled past the 5 yard limit...They could have called the DB for illegal contact or PI...You're not going find a more obvious example of illegal contact...It was blatant...And it came on one heck of a crucial play to boot... I'm not saying the fix is in necessarily...I am saying there has been some brutally bad officiating that has definitely effected the Bills negatively this season so far...Maybe it will all even out in the end...But I'd rather just see it called the way it should be called...
  10. The Robey play could have turned the game around big time...That was an easy 6...Duke's bonehead play should have been a pick as well... That's how close the Bills were to a 14 pt swing in that game...Typically though, the Bills don't make the plays they need to make vs the Pats... And the beat goes on...
  11. They must have missed that part of the game looking for a non-story...
  12. It's tough to back a HC who is an ex O-lineman, and ex O-Line coach, when he can't do better than this with a line that is far from devoid of talent...Considering this is supposed to be Marrone's area of expertise, and the fact that the whole Offense is supposed to be a run-first physical style...I just don't see how he's going to get a pass considering how the Bills continuously struggle to execute in the area of blocking... If anything this O-Line seems to be underachieving...We can blame the players all we want...But the truth is most NFL O-Lines are not made up of top-tier talent from RT to LT...We just got beat by a team that traded away their best O-Lineman right before the season started and has been patching in nobodies for 6 games now...The Bills should be better than they are in this area because of Marrone...And they're not... The Cowboys start three 1st round picks and a 4th rounder on their O-Line...They are the exception to the rule in the NFL...
  13. This ^^^ They had to go one deeper at Safety and it bit them...I have no doubt whatsoever that a healthy AW would have made a difference in this game... The Duke PI was just a terrible play...I don't know wtf that kid was thinking on that play...He literally handed the Pats a TD when he could have easily made a big play for his Defense...But sometimes it takes years for young DB to learn to turn back and look for the ball...Sometimes they never get it...The long TD pass was Graham's fault but it still took one of the best catches I've seen in a long time to convert it...On the games key 3rd down you have a Rookie LB as the only guy near Gronk...Not really a secondary thing as much as the called Defense... I do wonder why Russ Cockrell is the odd man out...I know he's not a Safety, but the kid has cover skills and seems to me to be a more instinctive player with the ball in the air than Duke is...And Cockrell is not small either at 6-0-190... I think the only things we really leaned today was that the demise of Tom Brady was greatly exaggerated...and that Aaron Williams is still the Bills best DB...
  14. AW being out today did not help...That's for sure...The Bills secondary completely fell apart without it's best player...
  15. Biggest 3rd down of the game...Maybe the season so far for the Bills D...And the closest guy to Gronkowski is a rookie LB...
  16. Far worse than anything Woods did to get flagged...
  17. Hold here and we're back in business... Which at this point completely defies all logic...
  18. What a joke of a game... The Bills...outside of a couple players...looked like uninspired sloppy garbage...And the Refs gave the Pats all the extra they needed to pull away... When are the Bills going to get a Coach in here that can properly convey how difficult it is to beat this freaking Pats team? How can they come into a game vs a team that has beat you this many times and look like this? How do you come into this game looking this unprepared and undisciplined? This is the Pats...How can we not do what the freaking Chiefs did? It's like they beat us before we even hit the field...It's insane... I mean...I should not be surprised...But still... The fact that they are only 8 down right now is a minor miracle...
  19. This is so glaringly obvious now...I'm disgusted watching this...
  20. OMG you have GOT to be kidding me... This is insane!
  21. Good answer... Despite Hackett...
  22. Hackett sucks...But Chandler keeps bailing him out...
