That's a good analysis right there. "Equally mediocre" is a perfect description.

Easiest schedule based on opponents stats from the BN
Paup 1995MVP replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
It certainly is. And our defense was ass against the Titans and the Colts. That being said, we showed up well against the Saints last week. But the 2021 Saints being led by Trevor Simien and without Alvin Kamara are not scaring anyone. We have everything in front of us over the next 6 games. All six games are winnable. And I think we need to go 5-1 to win the division. That would put us at 12-5. Lets hope we are peaking when the playoffs come around. We won't have Tre. But the rest of our secondary is all solid if not excellent at safety. We just need to show more physicality on both lines and we can compete with anyone. -
Agree about the RB's. Moss and Singletary need to be shown the door. Neither has any burst. And they miss holes quite often. Not sure what they saw in either. Lets get Hassan Haskins from Michigan. Not a burner but a pounder w great vision. Pair him up w Brieda next season and we will have Thunder and Lightning.

What is there to like about Davis Webb? I never want to see him take the field in a Bills uniform. Jake Fromm had an excellent college career. Never understood the crap many Bills fans gave him. And if I am a Giants fan I sure as hell hope Jake Fromm has more game then Daniel Jones has. Because Jones' performance last Monday nite against the Bucs was atrocious.
-
Definitely need to pressure Mack Jones. He is not elusive in the slightest. Blitz hard from the outside like we did against Tua. And do not let him escape up the middle. Even though the Pats beat the Falcons 26-0, when the Falcons blitzed, Jones was a deer in headlights. This is going to be a great game. We have not had many home games in prime time in a long time. Bills need to come out w some swagger. Did not have that against the Colts. Stuff the run and make Jones beat us. Play physical. Offense has been missing the juice we had last year. They played better in the second half against the Saints. But the O line was lousy especially Dawkins. Real good teams don't have O lines that are this bad. Need to get Breida a lot of touches. He brings the speed and energy to the offense this year. And opens things up for the rest of our weapons. There are no great teams in the NFL this year. Its a week to week league with over two thirds of the teams still in playoff contention. We need a big win Monday nite against the Pats to start our push to the playoffs. No excuses.

Potential for Spenser Brown move? (to LT?)
Paup 1995MVP replied to Toledo Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dawkins is not a franchise LT. Not sure where anyone ever thought that. The guy at his best was decent. (Maybe a poor man's John Fina or Cordy Glenn when healthy) This year he is terrible. We could not run to the left side last nite at all. And his pass protection.... we all saw what happened w that. If he isn't recovered from Covid he should have been placed on IR. Do you really think Bates would have done any worse this year there? The personnel use on this team is questionable at best. At least Moss and McKenzie were benched. Big revamp this offseason on the O line. But hey the defense at least brought the wood last nite-that was great to see.. -
A Few Thoughts about the Colts game, in no particular order
Paup 1995MVP replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
So true. We can be 8-4 or as bad as 6-6, with not much left in the tank. The Saints are a winnable game even though they usually have a strong defense. Trevor Simien and Taysom Hill shouldn't scare us. But their needs to be a scheme put in to stop Alvin Kamara. He does a lot of damage catching passes in the flat. We need to be prepared for that. I also want to see a whole lot more swag from Josh Allen and the offense. Come out swinging like we know we are the better team and lay the hammer to the Saints right from the start. Need to replicate the Chiefs game. We are a great front running team. When we fall behind we lose our confidence quickly. We beat the Saints soundly, we get a mini bye week to reflect get healthy and bring our best to MNF against a Pats team that will try and play us the same way the Colts did. We had better be ready for a physical slugfest against them. If this team has championship aspirations, the next two weeks will set the tone of make or break. -
Todays Athletic article - Reality Check on Bills
Paup 1995MVP replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
Very true about Allen. I was at the Bills-Dolphins game in Miami, and even though we dominated because we smoked Miami's QB's, Allen was missing throws and reads all over the field. He looked very discombobulated in that game. And has been up and down all season. Lets hope he can regain some of his accuracy quickly. I think he plays best, when he is fast and loose, and scrambling on broken plays. Not the planned runs up the middle because that doesn't work well because he is not super elusive like a Lamar Jackson. But to the outside where he can outrun most to the corner. -
Not sure if It’s coaching , talent , effort, Do youself a favor;
Paup 1995MVP replied to DrPJax's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have not listened to the Fina Podcast. Not much of a podcast guy. But I respect what Fina says He was a good O lineman for a long time. He would be the best O lineman on this version of the Bills by far. (Don't even think that Dawkins is in his league, because he is not even close, even before he was hit w Covid) That being said, the more I read after Sunday's loss the madder I am getting. The effort and coaching on this team is terrible. And anyone who says "its only one loss." is living in la la land. When you lose by 26 points at home, and are never in the game, whatever your record is at the time, you have big problems. Even more so when you are supposed to be a contender. After the Colts first drive, or even during the Colts first driver adjustments should have been made to stuff the run and make Wentz beat us. We did nothing. On offense we looked like ***** most of the game. Josh Allen can throw darts. But he has been off most of the season compared to last year. And his body language on the sidelines is terrible. I remember his first two seasons he was high fiving and encouraging everyone on offense and defense. This year he sits by himself and maybe talks w Davis Webb once in awhile. Maybe getting in his O lineman's faces once in a while might light a fire under them. This seems to be a rudderless ship drifting off into the abyss right now. -
I agree wholeheartedly. I have no idea why either was drafted in the 3rd round. Neither has any explosiveness. And they are not difference makers. Every skill player on your roster needs to be able to be a difference maker at some point. These two are extraordinarily average at best!! Wow its so frustrating.
-
And we have not adapted one bit. That's on coaching. We have overvalued our talent at many positions dramatically. The mojo just has not been there. Team played with no confidence once they fell behind even at 7-0. It was obvious to see. Big problem is our RB's. As a group they are lousy and noone fears them. RB's set the tone with their physicality. We don't get that, and we seem soft. I would bench both Singletary and Moss this week. Send a message. Start Antonio Williams and Breida. Let the team know mediocrity is not acceptable. I would cut or sit Butler and Phillips. We have to have someone on the practice squad who can play DT. Those guys are beyond bad. Send a message. No changes means losing is acceptable. Lets hope that is not the case.

Is McDermott a Wartime Consigliere?
Paup 1995MVP replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have a great QB. Tremendously talented and competitive. We have a great WR #14. We have a potentially good #2 receiver. He is #13. We have a very good secondary. Our TE #88 has gotten a lot better. Our young RT looks to be potentially a stud. And #58 at LB is a keeper, and plays like a stud at times. Oh and our kicker is usually really really good also. But the rest of the team especially on both lines and at RB is eminently replaceable. I think with better big guys who are difference makers, McDermott can lead us to where we want to go. Teams win with good coaching. But you need good players first. And we sorely misjudged the talent at key positions before this season. -
40 year anniversary of Big Ben win against Patriots
Paup 1995MVP replied to Walking Tall's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was at that game back in high school w my brother. We stayed the whole time. The stadium was going nuts. Euphoria!! Roland Hocks had some game. We could use someone like that now in our backfield. -
Good post. Herbert has a rifle of an arm. Wow. Defense isn't great. But they play hard. And Keenan Allen is dam good. Bills nothing special this year. We all overrated them. Smitten by Josh Allen's greatness. NFL is a long season. Weeds out the pretenders. Star and Brown are two tough dudes. We lost a lot without them playing today. D has no nastiness. Our WR's have disappeared a lot this year. Offense so discombobulated. Knox getting way too many passes thrown his way. And RB's cumulatively are at the bottom of the league. they suk. Bench Moss. Team is severely flawed. Tough run of games. Wow things have turned. McDermott has to right this quickly.
-
You hit it perfectly. Our lines are lousy. The best player is a 3rd round rookie from Northern Iowa. And what has he played 4 games maybe? Football is a game of physicality. On the lines you need toughness and fight. Team is not constructed to play physical Northern football. Losing to anyone 41-15 is unacceptable. We have beaten the dregs of the NFL for the most part this year. It will be a chore to get to 10 wins this year if it does not get fixed this week. The wheels can fall off real quick. Not a team of tough old veterans. Josh looked beaten down, confused and almost disinterested at times. Although his physical ability is ridiculous-case in point the 2 pt run in the 4th qtr. The vibe of this years team has been lousy since the week 1 against Pittsburgh. Very disappointing. Need a fairly big overhaul in the offseason. McDermott needs to certainly look at what he is doing right and wrong. Because we were not prepared today for the slugfest that Indy brought to the party. How about we start by bringing a physical RB that can hit a hole? My god Fred Jackson was much more physical then these jokers.
-
We are not a physical team on either side of the ball. Its that simple. You need toughness at every position. When was the last time we bludgeoned a team into submission?? Watch George Kittle block someone at TE. Then watch Dawson Knox. Our D line was an embarrassment today. We had nothing. No space eaters. Sure we missed Star. But Phillips Butler and Oliver sucked. And our DE's were no better. A lot of long guys. Need some bulk. Need some meanness too. Football can still be a street brawl. We are missing some serious juice. You don't come out in a dogfight for the division and get wupped by 4 TD's at home against anybody. We were not prepared to go into battle today. That should never happen. O line and D lines are soft. Only guy on either side of the ball w talent is Spencer Brown. Oliver occasionally. But not big enuf to make a consistent difference at his position. Klein the toughest guy on the team. We will be lucky to make the playoffs this year. I don't see it right now.

NFL will be better off without dirtbag Kroenke
Paup 1995MVP replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am all for anyone who wants to stick it Roger Goodell even in a second hand way. He has single handedly ruined the NFL. I long for the days of Pete Rozelle and Paul Tagliabue. -
Bills Sign Bobby Hart ...Edit: Added poll
Paup 1995MVP replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is what coaching is all about. The offensive coaches will need to scheme to protect whomever plays rt tackle. Hopefully Doyle is at least marginal. (for God sakes he was drafted in the 5th round out of a MAC school so the team had to have seen something they like.) And agree to keep Williams at RT. Overall the offensive line play in this era is absolutely abysmal. The Falcons O line last nite was pathetic. Sad to see Matt Ryan going down like that. And how about the Raiders Alex Leatherwood at RG. He suks and was drafted in the 1st round by the Raiders. And their RT #75 is just as bad. One of the problems I think is the O lineman are just too frikin tall. Why the hell would you want someone over 6'5 playing O line. They get absolutely no leverage w their blocks. Build an O line with a bunch of reasonably athletic guys between 6'3 and 6'5 across, and you will have great success. For my money the best O lineman at least at tackle to play in the modern era are Tony Bosselli Anthony Munoz and Jason Peters in his prime. None over 6'5. And John Hannah at guard was probably 6'3. From the mouth of Paup. Go Bills! -
Former Jets RB Zac Stacy is still running…
Paup 1995MVP replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is a very disturbing video. And Zak Stacy will probably get 5-10 for Aggravated Assualt. And rightfully so. A lot of women hang out w bad dudes. Thats too bad. I am glad my young adult daughter is not afraid to throw down w anyone male or female. -
Spencer Brown placed on Covid List [Edit: Thurs 11/18]
Paup 1995MVP replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Vegas loves the Bills this year. We have had a ton of double digit spreads. The key is to stop the Colts run. Carson Wentz is not going to beat us. Get some pressure on him and he will wilt quickly. The line moves based on where the money is going. Most gamblers who aren't Bills fans are going to know much about our rookie RT. -
Spencer Brown placed on Covid List [Edit: Thurs 11/18]
Paup 1995MVP replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rotate Bates and Doyle. No reason to even dress Ford. And Williams isn't much better at RT. At least he is a solid guard. -
The Falcons suck. They lost by 40 to the Cowboys last Sunday. Their best receiver is getting Mental help. Not going to happen against Atlanta. Its a long NFL season. Not much to really talk about mid season. I think all the penalties from supposed violent hits has really dumbed down the excitement of the game in general. The Patriots will be a formidable opponent for anyone this season. Not unbeatable. Just formidable. The Colts will be this week for us as well. But that's the way it should be. To be a good team, you have to beat the good teams. Its that simple. If our O line can hold up and play reasonable well. (not lights out, because that is not going to happen with this group) we will be in strong contention for the Super Bowl.
-
Interesting suggestion 03. Our O line is flaming garbage. But our RB's are really not much better. Neither has any explosive burst whatsoever. As for Gurley, his knees seem to be shot. But Kerryon Johnson definitely has game. He was good at Auburn and has been good in the pros. He is head and shoulders above Moss and Singletary. I would be happy giving him a shot. War Eagle!! Why do you call Singletary motor? Take away the one long TD run at Miami and tell me what Singletary's stats are. His game is thoroughly forgetable.

I went to two Va Tech games in 2016. Sat down near the field. Didn't know much about their players. But certainly noticed the way Teller played. And he was also the leader of their O line which was a pretty solid line back then. Was pretty psyched when we drafted him. Not sure why we let him go. He wasn't great at first. But he certainly was solid for a rookie back in I believe 2018. Him and Spencer Brown manning the rt side of the line sure would look good right about now.
