Bills open as 6.5 point favorites vs Steelers week 1
Paup 1995MVP replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Charles Davis is a great analyst. Him and Gus Johnson are my favorites, with some Kevin Harlan close behind. -
Yes, ESPN college football has been awesome for decades. I remember watching Ron Franklin and Mike Godfried doing Saturday Nite Football in the mid 80's in college. Great stuff. The anchors back in the day were tremendous. Olberman and Patrick. The late Tom Mees. Mike Ley. And remember the show w Roy Firestone years ago? Tremendous stuff. I remember an interview w Lyle Alzado about steroids before he died back in about 1991. Now its a rag promoting a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do w Sports.

The Importance Of Balance For The OL
Paup 1995MVP replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please don't mention Devin Singletary and Terrell Davis in the same breath. There is no comparison other then they both are black. Have two legs two arms and one head. Davis had an amazing run from 95-98. He also had a great run blocking O line. But there is no comparison in their abilities. As I always say about Tremaine Edmunds. Lets hope there is significant improvement this upcoming season. Go Bills!! -
The Importance Of Balance For The OL
Paup 1995MVP replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about Breida. He can run. And he is from Georgia Southern. And they know how to run the football, even in this pass happy era. Lets hope the Bills don't put him in football purgatory like they did w TJ Yeldon, who was severely misused by the Bills coaching staff. Did not understand that decision one bit! -
Quinnen Williams out 8-10 weeks

Dam straight Doc. What is there to get excited about in baseball?? I watched Moneyball the other nite. I was more excited and interested watching the story of the 2002 Oakland A's and there 20 game win streak then anything current w baseball. As for the NFL, any game on any week of any season can be super exciting. And when you gamble on it, its even better!! -
Peter King Mock- Bills take Etienne

Thanks Billspro. I really appreciate the well wishes for my son. He had a serious knee injury in the first game of the 2019 season at LSU. But he had surgery w a real good sports medicine ortho in Atlanta, and recovered well. He had a real strong second half of the 2020 season. So hopefully it continues in 2021 and beyond. -
Agree with you 100%. Edmunds has been mediocre at best despite what many on this board believe. (I know he made 2 pro bowls. Big deal. Watch the film. The guy has no instincts to play the position and he is not a thumper) Hopefully he gets a whole lot better this year. Beane has done great bringing in Josh Allen Stefan Diggs and Cole Beasley. The rest of his signings have been overall mediocre at best. (Tre White was not his draft pick, nor was Dion Dawkins Matt Milano Micah Hyde or Jordan Poyer) He did a good job cleaning up the salary cap hell we had fallen in w all the dead money. But his evaluation of talent over all has not been extraordinary by any means. Sure there have been some hits like McKenzie, Bass, Daryl Williams and Feliciano. But the guy does not walk on water as seen w the signings of Jefferson Butler Addison last year. And how much we overpaid for Mitch Morse given his performance The AFC will be tougher this year. Hopefully we see improvement from guys like Edmunds Oliver Epenesa and Knox with some strong play from Rouessau and Basham as the season progresses to give us a better team at playoff time.

Mac Jones vs Zach Wilson
Paup 1995MVP replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed Dr Dawk. Jones gets any pressure he is done. If Jarrett Stidham had the receivers at Auburn that Mac Jones had at Alabama he would have put up just as good of numbers. And Stidham can actually scramble some. Jones is in for a rude awakening. That was an arrogant pick by Belichik. The Belichik legend is Tom Brady.... That's quite a QB room that they have now w Jones Stidham and Cam. War Eagle v Roll Tide in New England. LOL -
Broncos acquire QB Teddy Bridgewater for 6th round pick
Paup 1995MVP replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is afraid to throw the ball more then 10 yards downfield is what happened. At least Lock is not afraid to let it rip. If Drew Lock can't beat out Teddy Bridgewater this year to start for the Broncos, that's on Drew Lock. I think his ceiling is much higher then Bridgewater's. But I don't coach in the NFL. So my vote doesn't count. -

Hunter has been good. I think I just get a little bitter because my son plays DE at Georgia Southern and is only 6'2. He is strong and can move well, but doesn't have the great length. If he has a really good senior season he should get a shot in the NFL. But that's how it goes. I think he projects more as an 3-4 OLB at the next level. But once you show you can play at the NFL level it doesn't matter where you come from or what round if any you are drafted. -
Falcons Shopping Julio Jones
Paup 1995MVP replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That you were able to figure that out is impressive. But there were lots of other games that he was not nearly full speed. When healthy he is still an upper echelon receiver. The problem is his legs are like a porcelin China doll. -
Which defensive scheme would you prefer?
Paup 1995MVP replied to Arm of Harm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Way to find that link!! Thats a LONG time ago. And we lost Keion Carpenter and Sam Rogers that game. (said it right there in the article) And I agree about Tony Dungy. Never been a big fan. -
Ty Dunne: Motor can lift Bills to super bowl
Paup 1995MVP replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure guys can get better. Most players are not stars their first year in the league. But if you watch enuf football you can tell who is a top end player and who isn't. Its not that difficult to gauge. Singletary is not a top end RB. He doesn't have the physical characteristics to be that type of player. Even Willis McGhahee coming off his horrible knee injury (while not an all timer that many thought he would be before the injury against Ohio State) still had some of those dominating traits that the great ones have. Bottom line is we need to get better to beat the Chiefs Packers Bucs and anyone else in the AFC who has improved. We need guys who can come in and make us better and more difficult to play against. Someone on the level of AJ Epenesa is probably not that guy. If Etienne or N Harris are that guy then by all means draft him and move on from Singletary, who after watching his body of work over the past two years seems a bit over drafted as a 3rd rounder. -

If we are going DE, we need to trade up a bit if Kwity Paye starts falling and get him. The other guys aren't likely to do much for us this year. Guys like Oweh do nothing in the NFL. Heck he did nothing in the Big 10 at Penn State. Everyone wants these long lanky guys to play DE and rush the passer. As big as most Olineman are, you need some strength and bulk to get to the QB. Dwight Freeney was one of the best DE's of all time rushing the passer, and he wasn't even 6 feet. Get Paye or a good CB in the 1st round if we don't have to give up too much to move up. Otherwise all day on Etienne or Najee!! -

Until he pulls a hammy or sprains his foot for the umpteenth time in training camp. An all time great player........when healthy!! -
Former Bear Steve McMichael has ALS ( Lou Gehrig disease)
Paup 1995MVP replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is very sad news. McMichael was a tough hard nosed very good player. And quite the character on NFL films type stuff. That Bears team was something. Don't think too many of them would have been a good fit w McDermott. But that was a very different era of football and life. God bless him and his family!! -
Athletic article on JP Losman
Paup 1995MVP replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That game down in Houston in 2005 or 2006 was epic. He had his moments. But the Oline was always trash in front of him. The organization was just a mess back then. Hard to believe Kelly Holcomb was starting in front of JP at some point. I think it was 2006 Christmas Eve we played the Titans with Vince Young at QB. My lasting memory was him scrambling for like a 40+ yard TD before halftime as Chris Kelsay was left in the dust. That pretty much summed up that entire decade of futility. Our current team and organization is so much better now. I did not think we would ever be this good again. I feel truly blessed to have been a huge fan back in the Super Bowl years and to have another go round decades later with another championship caliber team. How frikin great is that!! Go Bills. -
Orlando Brown traded to the Chiefs for 1st Rd Pick
Paup 1995MVP replied to CaptnCoke11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is why we could certainly use Najee Harris or Travis Etienne in our backfield. There is your elite talent. Drafting guys like Singletary Moss and Epenesa aint cutting it when it comes down to it. -
Best player for immediate upgrade to our starting lineup.
Paup 1995MVP replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Najee Harris HAS to be in this conversation! -

Wasn't it an achilles or a knee injury for Cowart down in Tampa on a wet rainy day that pretty much ended his career in 2000? I think we lost several guys on D in that game. That was too bad. Cowart was really good and had the potential to be a great player. I think losing that game pretty much sent our team spiraling downward and led to the start of the draught. I think the next week when we went to Indy Wade said we would not make the playoffs, and then we pretty much fell off a cliff. -
Potential Hint to Draft Priorities?
Paup 1995MVP replied to glazeduck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WR is somewhat of a need. But not a huge need right now. Beasley and Sanders may have 2-3 solid to very good years left in them. Davis is young. And Hodgins maybe a beast. And there are guys coming out every year now that are very good wideouts. The college game is so different then it was even 10-15 years ago. Teams (except for the Maize and Blue, Wisconsin and Iowa) love to throw the ball all over the place. So there are many more higher end WR's to choose from every year then say in the 80's and 90's. I think that Beane will have a hard time not picking Najee Harris or Travis Etienne if they are there when we pick at 30. -
The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
Paup 1995MVP replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree Ya Digg that the game is much different today then it was 25-30 years ago. Holacek was a thumper. Old school hard nosed traditional LB. Rogers was good in what he did also. Were they super athletic? Not really. However, they were very good (not great) playing their positions in that era. I don't think that Edmunds is good at playing his position in this era. I know I am hard on him. But when you are playing in the middle of your defense, you need to be if not a special player, at least pretty dam good. London Fletcher was that guy when he roamed the middle for the Rams Bills and Redskins. Not a HOF but a dam good anchor for the defense. I want Edmunds to be approaching that level this year, in the way he plays and leads. I would not give him the 5th year option. However, if he plays lights out (a big question mark) we can potentially sign him long term after the season. I think Beaner agrees w me. (time will tell)
