  1. He's going to get a ton of touches because he's on a team that throws a lot, with a QB who spreads the ball around and is very accurate. Hogan isn't a bad WR by any means but every single WR who goes to NE (and actually gets on the field regularly) puts up good numbers, almost without exception. Brady makes all those guys look much better than they would in any other offense.
  2. In general though, I think a HC should get a min of three years to turn things around. If a team keeps firing HCs over and over they'll just keep spinning their wheels. Granted, I really dislike what Rex has done and Im willing to waive my 3 year rule on this one.
  3. To be fair the year before Carrol got there they went 11-5 and went to the Super Bowl with Parcells. Carrols first year they lose in the divisional round, 2nd year they lose in the WC round and his final year they miss the playoffs and finish 5th in the AFC East. It was a steady downward trend, in both record and playoff performance, even if it doesnt look that bad in the rearview mirror. Of course, during Belichick's first season they won 5 games. Then the miracle happens early in his 2nd season and the rest is history.
  4. Youd think that hed eventually tire of being used to spread gossip. He might get clicks in the short term, but in the long run it ruins one's reputation.
  5. You act like you believe the coaching staff or the front office listens to Brandon's opinions on football matters. Ive been in meetings where a guy, in over his head, gives his opinion on something hes not qualified to and everybody just moves forward as if he didnt say a thing. Afterwards, you might share a private chuckle about it and thats the end of it.
  6. Imagine that, LaCanfora reports something that causes a big stir but turns out to be false. This is certainly the first time Ive ever hesrd of this haooening.
  7. Coughlin is the only guy I can think of who might come to Buffalo who is a "big name."
  8. Damn, even the Niners were smart enough to avoid playing a guy until Kaep decided he wanted to play even if it meant negotiating that clause out of his contract. Bills move forward with fingers crossed.
  9. Seattle under Carrol comes to mind. 7-9 the first two years.
  10. I'm not sure it has anything to do with his brain not working fast enough, but I think you're spot on with your second thought. He became so used to breaking the pocket and using his athleticism whenever his first read wasn't there that it's now engrained in him like muscle memory. It takes years and years of working hard to undo years and years of bad training. The Bills don't have years and years for him to try and work it out.
  11. It's funny, before the draft posters are split on pretty much all the QB prospects. After the draft, and after it's obvious another team has found a gem the board unifies into, "Why didn't we draft him!!??"
  12. Yeah, but what if it's a non football injury that happens while at the Bills' facility!?
  13. I saw several posters blaming her directly for the Rex hire in the first place. As if she sat on her throne and told everybody else what was going to happen. Somehow Terry wasn't mentioned, I guess he is blameless. I'm surprised Terry didn't make a post in the "what does your wife do that drives you crazy" thread that laid out how she makes him feel small by hiring head coaches without his input.
  14. I'm sure they would...right now. But in three weeks the board would be spewing venom about how they choked and missed the playoffs, and rightfully so.
  15. If you want him fired get Eric Dickerson to lend his support. Perhaps he can hold a training seminar for Kelly, Thurman, Bruce and co.
  16. I'm no Fisher fan but at one point in his career he guided the Titans to the playoffs 4 times in 5 years, all with 11 wins or better. He made the playoffs a few years later in back to back years. So while he's certainly been horrible the past, oh, 7 years or so to say his entire career was about one play isn't exactly fair.
  17. Carp shanking the kick wasn't by design. As for not keeping Carp because of his extra point issues, you have to have a better option before you cut somebody. These are the teams with kickers who have missed 3+ extra points this year: Minnesota Cincy Seattle Giants Buffalo Cleveland Carolina Arizona New England San Diego If all those teams cut their kickers because they've struggled with extra points who on earth are they getting to replace them? Do you think that kickers who didn't even make a roster are magically better? Does Belichick lack discipline? Is that why his team has missed so many extra points this season? Looking at that list it strikes me that half of those teams play outdoors in the northeast. Again, I'm no fan of Rex but your point makes no sense.
  18. There's no way to know exactly how much input Whaley has. It's clear he doesn't have total control of contracts but other than that it's just speculation.
  19. I'm not a fan or Rex but how does Carp's inability to hit an extra point and his inability to kick an onside kick have anything to do with coaching? If you're going to start a topic criticizing the coaching there are LOTS of really good points that could be made, yet two out of your three have little (or nothing) to do with it. That being said, I'm with you on the 2 minute offense. It's been a problem all year and I have no clue how they can't get to the LoS and snap the ball with more than 10 seconds on the clock when time is a factor.
  20. Remember in October how Rex bragged about is brother and the job he was doing with their red zone D? I haven't heard him mentioning it lately. I found an article from 2011 that had Rob lamenting that the Cowboys (where he was DC at the time) spent more time studying red zone D than anybody and he didn't understand how they were so poor.
  21. That's great and I'm sure that's how most teams would prefer to do it. However, when things don't go according to plan Eli and co. have the ability to go to plan B and start chucking the ball around the field. Teams with good QBs (and I use that term very loosely with regards to Eli) will get a few wins a season doing that and voila, an 8 win season turns into a 10-11 win season.
  22. Of course he does but I seriously doubt he has input on the minutia of a contract. If he did he'd be the one doing them. I'm guess Whaley outlines the basic parameters of what he thinks a player is worth and leaves it to Overdorf and the agent to hammer out all the specifics. Unless Whaley is given more power I won't be blaming him for every little thing that goes wrong with the organization. I'm all for consolidating power with a guy who runs the entire show but until that happens there's no "buck stops here" guy other than the Pegulas.
  23. He doesn't do the contracts.
  24. All that needs to be said about Gay is that he couldn't even beat out Carp. That's all I need to know about him. I'm all for finding a new kicker but it's not Gay.
  25. Holloway is a beast. Very much looking forward to his fight with Aldo. I'm curious if Aldo will attempt to use his takedowns/ground game in this one. It's an underrated part of his game that he doesn't utilize that often.
