  1. - Doing manual labor of any kind then taking a few minutes after you're done to admire your hard work. - Getting home after a long trip - Having my year old son parrot my opinion no matter what I say then having my wife roll her eyes at me after it happens. Actually, I'm not sure this a small pleasure, it's pretty significant. - Having my wife run her nails through my hair.
  2. I don't think either, though I do think the back has to be special, not just good, to justify it. My mouth dropped open when they picked Spiller for the exact reason I stated above. I felt that the ONLY position the Bills didn't need to address early was RB - and that's what they did. Jackson was fantastic the year before the Spiller pick and while they certainly needed a #2 back Jackson had clearly done enough to justify being the starter and there was no need to draft a RB at 10. Jackson, while splitting time, put up over 1k yards and averaged 4.5ypc behind a subpar OL. He also snatched 46 receptions for almost another 400 yards. That's all in 11 starts. All the talk of BPA is a bit much, you pick BPA at a position that the player can get on the field. I'm not a football genius and even I knew that Spiller wasn't going to get on the field the moment the pick was made and - at least in this one thing - I've been proven correct. All that being said, I'm not ragging on Nix. I like the job he's done very much, but that pick was nonsensical at least from my perspective.
  3. Spiller was a horrible pick. Fred Jackson was the best player on the roster the year before Spiller was drafted. There was absolutely no need to use a top 10 pick on a running back when the best player on your team is a running back. Sure the Bills needed another back but you don't spend a top 10 pick to shore up depth. Nix has done a good job since then but that was not a shining moment for him.
  4. Yes, the number of picks at RB and DB have been excessive but to say there are no success stories simply isn't true. Winfield and Clements both performed at a 1st round level (and Burris and a few others on your list were solid.) The failure with both had nothing to do with the drafting and everything to do with the re-signing. Letting guys play out their rookie deals and walking has been a bigger problem than drafting from these positions and has contributed to the need to continuously re-draft from them. When you hit on a 1st round pick you can't simply let them play their contracts out and let them sign elsewhere only to have to draft that position again. That is a recipe for walking on a treadmill and never improving - which is exactly what the Bills have done.
  5. It's tough to have a rival after a decade of futility. To have a rivalry it has to be a two way street where both teams dislike the other and look forward to an important matchup. Nobody even thinks twice about the Bills so it's tough to have an actual rivalry. I'll agree with the poster above that the Bills current obstacle is the Pats. Personally, if I were you I wouldn't buy any memorabilia from an opposing team - F them!
  6. I love how the article makes it sound like Bell is a comparable player to Peters - with the potential to be better. On what planet do these people live?
  7. If Moulds had played with a quality QB he would have put up monster numbers and been considered one of the best in the league. It's amazing what he was able to do with the pathetic QBing on those Bills teams.
  8. I don't know what's more disturbing: that a grown man punched an obnoxious 10 year old or that there are people out there- like you- who admire him for it.
  9. Hell, I like Deer Tick and agree - that sucked. Not a good job selling the band with that particular vid.
  10. I'm impressed you actually read the article.
  11. They gave her name in the article, a simple search will provide you with the PG-13 version. I think she looked better in the G rated version though.
  12. The guy has put up over 60 catches and 700 yards in every year that he didn't miss time due to injury. He's a high quality passing catching TE. Hes not a hard nosed guy who is willing to do the dirty work blocking though and I do wonder about the reasons the Bucs are getting rid of him though, particularly for a guy who can't stay on the field that past two years. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Bills as he is a legit weapon who causes mismatches and the only guy like that on the Bills current roster is Stevie. That being said, I seriously doubt the Bills make any more significant additions before the season starts.
  13. You act like this is a new thing - it's not. This type of parent has been around for a long time, it just gets reported as "news" on the internet these days. The good ol' days weren't better, they just weren't under the microscope.
  14. It might be this way but it shouldn't be. This isn't a bar or a stip club it's a sporting event (hell, in a bar or strip club they don't tolerate this type of behavior!) It should be a safe environment to take your family without having to worry about a bunch of drunken tools ruining the experience for everybody else. There is such a thing and drinking and enjoying yourself, being loud and cheering for your team without overindulging, losing control and starting trouble. Personally I think they need to drop the hammer on the individuals who cause trouble and can't handle their alcohol. No more slap on the wrist fines, make it worth their while so these types of people stay home. You think losing these types of people will "water down the game day experience?" I think it will bring the people to the games who currently avoid them because of the environment. I go to Phillies games 7-8 times a year, including the playoffs. Not once have I seen drunken idiots starting trouble. They're loud, passionate and totally into the game. I've never thought to myself, "this is a watered down experience, what this really needs are some brawls, puke, foul language and beer spilled on me."
  15. The guy is a top tier player at the premier position in the league and yet he's selfish if he wants to be paid as such? I'm guessing you're a "team player" at your job and when you go in to negotiate your salary you lowball yourself because you want to be considered a nice guy? And they have no "time of need." It's not like after Katrina when a natural disaster hit the area - these woes are self induced. If anything he should demand more money to stay with this organization which has a stigma over it and will for years.
  16. I've had fewer instances of people trying to pick fights with me in the Medowlands than I have at RWS and I've seen the Bills in the Medowlands about as many times as I have at RWS ( and both places I'm wearing a Bills jersey.) I've been to stadiums all over the country and never seen as many drunks trying to cause trouble as I have at the Ralph. As for the original question, this is one I've been considering lately as well. My 7 (soon to be 8) year old son is approaching the age where I'd like to take him but I'm leery of taking him given the atmosphere at the Ralph. I'll probably hold off for a few more years before I subject him to being dowsed in beer, stepping over vomit in the isle, fans yelling curse words non-stop and being knocked over by a brawl between two drunken idiots in the row behind him.
  17. I'm sure there are more but Takeo Spikes comes to mind. He was never the same guy who dominated but he's been a very productive player even after an achilles injury followed by a rotator cuff.
  18. Not sure I'd have trading for Bennett so high up - certainly not more important than drafting Bruce, Thurman or Ballard (in the 11th round!) or signing Hull. I loved Cornelius but he wasn't as important to the team as those players.
  19. People keep thinking that the QB position is a "pure talent" position - it's not. Sure you have to have the arm to make all the throws but understanding defenses, throwing accuracy, making quick decisions and having a sense of where the pass rush is are far more important than athletic ability. Young has to make dramatic improvements in all those areas to surplant Fitz as the starting QB (though Fitz isn't the most accurate of QBs.) I've never been a fan of the "athletic" QB. The best QBs in the league, year in and year out, are guys who can do the things I listed above. There's also a little thing called "leadership" which Young has struggled with mightily since coming to the NFL. He lacks the mental toughness and work ethic which are required to get these guys to want to follow him. So yeah, if you're running pure skills tests Young would beat out Fitz but given everything that is required out of an NFL QB Young won't come near the starting spot.
  20. You might be right. I've been a big football fan my entire life but my son won't be allowed to play football either. There are just so many other sports he can play that are a lot safer for his long term health. From talking to other parents this seems to be a pretty common thought process nowadays at least in my area.

  22. If Tanney doesn't work out maybe would could sign one of these kids.
  23. I don't know how many QBs I've seen go high in the draft and everybody says, "they've got their franchise QB for the next 10 years" and they end up sucking. About half of them. There are only two guys I've ever seen come out where I said, "THAT guy is can't miss." Peyton and Luck. RG3 appears to have all the tools but let's see how it translates to the pro game. He played in an incredibly simple offense in college and I can easily see him failing at the next level.
  24. Larry Clark wrote and directed Kids.
  25. I hadn't even considered that angle of the lightning strike story.
